The Marpin Saga could come to an end this month

United States based company WRB Enterprises and the Dominica Social Security have agreed to purchase the assets of Marpin Telecoms and Broadcasting.

That declaration was made by the Union representing the workers of Marpin Telecoms and Broadcasting-the Waterfront and Allied Workers Union(WAWU).

According to WAWU's President Kertiste Augustus the matter could be finalized by this month. MORE]

Everyone including mother Catherine John expected twins. Well, she said the tests proved that, but on the day of delivery, three babies arrived - minutes apart. The third one, a big surprise.

"Doctor another one again?" was her remark after she was told that one more baby was discovered. The third baby was apparently hidden by the other two, the mother said.

Catherine gave birth to triplets: Nyila John (243 grams) at 7:20 p.m.; Nalla Catherine John (480 grams) at 7:45 p.m.; and Nailah John (270 grams) at 7:51 p.m. on Boxing Day, Friday, Dec. 26, 2008 at the Princess Margarte Hospital. MORE]

The Roosevelt Skerrit Government has made a decision and will soon announce a new tourism director and CEO of Discover Dominica Authority.

Leader of the Opposition Ronald Green said the United Workers Party (UWP) enters the New Year a more fortified unit.

Dominica's former Prime Minister Edison James is calling on the Roosevelt Skerrit Government to address the banana crisis currently affecting the agriculture industry.

Dominica's Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said the United States President-elect Barack Obama should put the concerns of the people of Cuba on his agenda.

LIAT warns of further delays and cancellations due to air traffic control restriction

It is expected that a combination of events at Antigua's V.C. Bird International Airport will further impact LIAT's flights from Monday night.

Air Traffic Controllers at the airport are continuing the 'flow control' which they implemented more than two weeks ago, allowing no more than one plane to land every 20 minutes. MORE]
Dominican charged for drug trafficking, possession in the BVI

TORTOLA - A Dominican along with the captain of a sailing vessel was detained and charged by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force after a large quality of what is suspected to be cocaine was discovered on the boat.

The captain, Ronald Weisel, a 58-year-old U.S. citizen residing in the USVI, was charged jointly with his crew member, Hillary Toussaint, 41, of Grand Bay, Dominica with importation of drugs, possession with intent to supply, and possession of cocaine.
