Reverend calls for church unity in Dominica

Superintendent Minister of the Dominica Methodist Church Reverend Calvin Greenaway has called on churches on the island to work together.

There has been widespread debate about fragmentation in the churches in Dominica. But Reverend Greenaway told a press conference here recently that there is only one church.

“People need to understand that under Christ there is but one church. We need to work more together as opposed to working against each other. We need to have that re-sensitization or when people begin to understand that as part of that one church, people will go to one denomination for various reasons. We need to be doing much more,” he said.

He said churches need to discuss things that could be done together rather than the opposite.

“There is far more which unites us than what divides us and if we understand that then things might very well begin to change,” he added.

Gary, just a point of correction. The Seventh Day Adventist church does not teach that God’s name is Yahweh or that He should be called Yahweh. The church which teaches this doctrine is the Assemblies of Yahweh.

What Reverend Calvin Greenaway is talking about is not new, it is an age old delima that has
plague humanity since the beginning of time, responsible for wars. The problem is not churches coming together,. that is just a fallacy, the religious leaders know that . All Churches have a doctrine and a creed which they profess to and believe, Christians have their Doctrines based on Christ, The Muslims have theirs based on Mohamed and so forth..some of them are even willing to die for their beliefs As humans we were not born Christians, we were not born Muslims, we were indoctrinated into these religions, where do we get these indoctrination from, the Churches, look at the old Testament where people fight and go to war proclaiming that their God is stronger, and
and it is the God everyone should believe in. Just listening to the Sevenday Adventist saying that God name is Yahweh and that is the name we should call God, Ask our selves where these beliefs come from,? and who are the People enforcing these beliefs,? the Churches with their agents such as Priest, Pastors, who are trained and taught the doctrine of their Institution to give their followers.

Now, who is in the middle of all this , the People, who are being fed with crap and Pap, fighting, arguing, over which one has truth. People must wake up, take, control of their minds and get out from that deep sleep they have been put under by religion and churches. It is we as Humans who need to come together and not churches. Churches are Intuitions, it is a power thing, based on control, wealth information and knowledge, Reverend Calvin Greenaway should know that it is the people who make the Church and not the ones who create the doctrines, they are not the Church, it is time they realize this, it is people who make their Churches , since without people to indoctrinate there would be no Church. Have you ever seen a Church without any people? Churches, and Religious Institutions would never come together and compromise what they have, and what they stand for.individually as institutions and if they do, it is just a deception.

So if Reverend Calvin Greenaway is truthful, he should say the people need to come together for the good of the Nation not the churches, and stop the fallacy more crap and pap. Yes, people, we do need to wake up an come together for the good of our Nation, do not rely on Churches to tell us they have always device us and still deceiving us to this day.Religion, real lies going on.

I agree that their is one GOD and it doesn’t matter which denomination we belong too he is above all other he’s our Supreme GOD. Unity among the different religions are necessary because some parishioners take their clue from their clergyman.
I suggest that the churches come together and organized a multi Faith Service one of the largest ever seen on the Island a servic where everyone who believe that their is someone in charge of us all would come from near and far to celebration the our God reign what a day that would be..
That would help to dispell the negative attitude that is out there about the Chruchs and their Clergyman.

Revend Calvin Greenaway religion has had a long, long, history of division, dating back from the death of Jesus Christ to the Renaissance.
I learned that power, politics, culture, tradition, and knowledge, among many other things have had great influence on churches. There have also been an unsurmounting struggle to interpret the scriptures, making this unity even more tasking ; each having their interpretation and this is evident to present
One thing that seemed certain though to the majority of people, is that a supreme power existed and this supreme power has had its root in the word of GOD. But you will well understand that it is because of the pursuit of understanding and believing in the same God, various religous sects all over the world evolved. They all were preaching oneness..
This is not to discourage your plea for churches to come together but to remind you it is not an easy task and like in the old days, power, politics, and knowledge may continue to have the same effect.
Having said this, at least people, more so heads of churches understand the fierce urgency to come together.
Am I a pessimist? The answer is absolutely not. I am just speaking about the issue the way I se it.
