Dominican participates in first ever European Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series

Dominican Ron Stevens has participated in the first ever European Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series held in Madrid, Spain.

Stevens hails from the village of Giraudel.

The event which took place last Sunday is the first of its kind outside the US, where the marathon has its roots.

The series began in 1998 with the idea of making running fun but it has transformed the US running landscape entirely by infusing music with running.

With music and party-like atmosphere along every mile of the course long distance running became approachable and more and more people participated in something they had never dreamed they could do – run a marathon.

According to organizers the charity aspect of the event has raised more than $235 million dollars raised for participating charities.

Over 500,000 people take part in the event in 26 North American cities each year.

Organizers say taking the marathon to Madrid is the first step in making it a global event.

Good! Good! Good! And again i say very, very, very, good!

Not only is this young making me feel proud to be a Dominican, he is also from my home village of Giraudel.

Thanks to You dear God when You exalt us. May we still continue in humility–no matter how high You raise us; for the glory always belongs to You–none of it is ours. Amen!

We are happy and elated over the past few days positive people and positive persons are making Dominica proud both at home and over seas I say congratulations to all concern for that positive image of our lovely island. Recently we thought the world was about to end by the many bad news of what was considered a crime wave and negative news. Lets hope this trend continues and our law abiding citizens enjoy their lives as it supposed to be.
