‘Dangerous’ escaped murderer still at large

The most recent photo of Stephen Alphonse

More than two years after he escaped from the Stockfarm State Prison for the third time, 36-year-old murder convict Steven Alphonse of Belles is still at large as efforts by prison officials and the police to find him have so far proved futile.

Alphonse is among four prisoners who escaped from the facility in recent times and who have not yet been apprehended, Acting Prison Superintendent, Raphael Catin, revealed on Friday at the closing of the May Criminal Assizes.

Alphonse was serving a 40-year sentence for the vicious murder of a young woman.

He escaped on January 27, 2010 when prisoners were engaged in extracting coal from a coal pit between the hours of 8:30 a.m. to 5:40 p.m., with time off for lunch.

Prison officials noticed that Alphonse was missing when there was a change of shift and a head count was conducted.

He was initially sentenced to death in 1993, but appealed the case and in 2007 the sentence was commuted to 40 years.

In a previous escape, Alphonse made his way to Guadeloupe where he stayed for some time before he was deported to Dominica.

He has been described as ‘dangerous’ by law enforcement in Dominica.

The other prisoners on the loose are Bert Williams who escaped in December 2010; Danny Auguiste who escaped in October 2011 and Dexter Baptiste who escaped in November 2011.

What? They should have been in chains and shackles, on their waist and ankles while working. They may be conducting criminal offences in DA.
I hope that they are not overseas. If not, some people in Dominica are hiding them. If caught, may they never escape.
    Reinstate the death penalty!
You men, God knows where you are. You may escape from the DA Law but you did not escape from God’s Law.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said, on that day, when you die, He will find you (everyone) and mete out His just recompense to you (them). You will not escape from God, His wrath and judgment. You better turn yourself in, otherwise…Those who may be hiding you will be equally responsible.

I think this is ridiculous and embarrassing.

My only thought on this is to implement a law whereby if an inmate escapes from jail he / she should get life imprisonment. If they then escape again they should be terminated.

They seem to be making a mockery of the judicial system.

    • Really?

The prison governor has to do more to make sure that the inmates has no chance of escaping. In 2010 one escape and for another two to escape in 2011 a month apart that’s not good. If the governor is not up to the job he should step down and let someone who is more into keeping prisoners behind bars do the job, his officer must be unpaid and show no interest in what the convicts are upto. The Prime Minister need to have a hard look at what’s happening in the prison system with security.

I wonder if they also gave him a laptop so he can read the news. All things will come to an end someday. He will not live forever. He will die. Will they bury him there too? As I have stated, he will not escape God’s eternal punishment and banishment.
I certainly would not want to be in his position, always looking over the shoulder and wondering if law enforcement will catch up with him. This is not a happy and peaceful way to live. His end will come. Let us pray for him to be caught.

@ Langsal .. you really sound like your lang is sal for true
Before you say anything dat not right , get your fact straight ok
In these days now is not only Haitian and Spanish dat Taking back door
So to tell you the truth Dominican are all over the corner taking backdoor
and for the past two years there was a boat dat over turned in the caribbean sea in Tortola there were many Dominicans and so on ,.,.,. Can you imagine who dat has helped help her out although all you bad talking the Haitian people
A Haitian man left the Island to go to the funeral of one of them , he gave her money to buy stuffs and also he was the one to pay the ticket for her to get herself back in Dominica.
So please even if Haitian taking back they go and work but dominican go backdoor to go steel people things and then full up the boat and cmoe back dominica,.,.., so once again get your fact straight before you want to have yourself in Problem

    • July 31, 2012

The boat which over turned in Tortola, them people were Haitians with Dominica’s passport, last year when they caught the Haitian former Astaphan worker residing in Trafalgar together with his wife and them other Haitians in Guadeloupe, they were carrying both their Haitian passport and DA’s

His wife was deported back to DA and he was caught with over fifty thousand dollars he is in jail in Guadeloupe, after serving his time he will be deported back to DA

I know that there are many Haitians in DA and outside DA carrying Dominican people name, I meet a few in Guadeloupe and them have the nerve to tell me that they came backdoor from Dominica with Dominica’s passport

So you pure natural also need to get your facts straight, the Haitian residing in Trafalgar also had his own boat, smuggling people to Guadeloupe

Why do you not report it to the Guadeloupe and Dominica authorities? You should not keep this quiet. Could be also your name and that of your family and friends.

    • July 31, 2012

Sound like you are a Haitian, I would like to know according to you, ‘quote and quote” (so once again get your fact straight before you want to have yourself in Problem}.

I would like to know what problem, why threatening people, is it voodoo, etc, If you are a Haitian go back to your country, Dominica and Dominicans are the only ones tolerating you people

        July 31, 2012

Of course, he or she is a Haitian. Now that he can speak the Crown language,he is sending bad words to the dominican people. Some black sheep go to steal people things but u haitians steal people’s lives by kidnapping them right at your backdoor for a few gourdes. I don’t understand why is Dominica accepting those people. They only speak creole and can’t read or write, only dirtying the little country’s name. They must go back to their country, give them some breadfruits plants and other trees to help their country.

I will tell you why. When they take these guys out to work they give them free ups. I was working on my farm and bumped into one of them under my Grapefruit tree. Deep inside my private property far from the view of the rest of them picking Jelly Coconut. I asked him who he was and why was he under the bush at my farm? He said the Boss Man let him go to smoke a little Weed. Lucky for me he wasn’t dangerous and he was actually polite. But when I looked down at the location of the rest of them I hope to tell you, I was glad it wasn’t the Partner climbing the tree that they gave a free up! Only in Dominica! Awa Oui!
