To those abroad who claim to love Dominica, its a pity you are all so disloyal to your homeland.
Why are so many Dominicans living abroad. Is it because they still see Dominica as they left it?
Or is it because they have made no provisions for their latter years?. Or is it because they have seen how things have changed and they cannot lord it over those who have never travelled?
There are lots of Dominicans in the UK and if you speak to some of them, they say that England gave them what they have, so the occassional holiday is the only time they intend to visit Dominica.
Born but not bred in Dominica, I to come on the occassional holiday, but on my last visit I decided to return for good with my family. I love it and wonder why I took so long to return.
Yes there are MANY MANY more changes to be made.
So to those abroad, stop talking the talk and start walking the walk.

Dominica will always be “mama Dominique” to me. She reared me into who I am today. I have always been a proud daughter of this gem. I will NOT put or let her down in anyway. I am not presently there, but she is and will always be in my heart. She gives essence to the words, elegance, fostering and incomparable. A priceless gem. She will always be motherland.
She produced these beautiful people above who continue to proudly showcase her culture and reflects her beauty. Everyone in his/her own way above looks fabulous. We may all differ in many ways but we are one people – simply DOMINICANS.
Let us take our country to the next level TOGETHER. If we truly love her we will set our differences aside and work as one people giving essence to the line of her anthem – “all for each and each for all”. After all, without us there is no DOMINICA.

Hats off to you. I wish the same! I do believe that every Dominican abroad would love to be home at those times, Christmas, Carnival, Easter, Independence Day and also for the Creole Festival.

There are some people who make statements without first “putting on their thinking cap.” Everything needs to be explained to them. There is a saying, “Think before you talk” and what you state. Do not be negative.
Dominicans abroad cannot always take vacation when it suits them, pleases them and as they wish. Even those who own businesses are fully aware of that.
Some are not their own bosses and have to wait and take their turn for vacation. Vacation preference is also given to those who have seniority.
In this day and age of downsizing, lay-offs, restructuring, there is a situation in specifically those big countries where some are employed on a contract basis and also on a temporary basis. This means some are paid hourly. If they miss time at work, even though they are sick be it for a few hours or a day they will obviously not get paid. Few jobs offer permanent employment as it was in previous years. If they need to visit the doctor be it for an annual checkup, the optometrist — eye doctor or have other medical or non-medical appointments, they may very well have to use up their vacation allotment.
Furthermore, there are many places in the world to visit including religious ones, for those who are godly practicing Christians and their vacation days could be taken up for that purpose. Some may use their vacation weeks to go on a religious retreat as well. Also to visit other areas in the country in which they reside.
In addition, there are other pressing matters to see about and family to take care of. The school year commenced in September after summer holidays. Children are at school at this time. Parents are not able to visit then as much as they wished they could.
When people prepare for a vacation, there is much to consider that they may have an enjoyable time, free of worry and anxiety while they are away.
First things first and important ones first. People have their personal obligations to meet. As people do things in their own stride, when Dominicans abroad are able to travel to Dominica they will do so. This makes good sense to me. I never ask or question why some people are able to visit frequently and others not.
It is none of my business and it should be no other’s business. Whatever their personal reasons, it is their prerogative to visit or not to visit and to do so when they can. There are concrete reasons why they are not able to visit at a specific time even though they wished they could. When they are able to visit they surely will.
Therefore, it is not always a matter of not being able to afford it. Know that there are financial institutions that will be ever too pleased to lend money and also most people have credit cards or at least one. Those who reside abroad know this too well. It is obviously understandable that whenever they hear of celebrations back home, as Carnival especially having access to Internet as DON, their love for Dominica, their patriotic instinct and their past memories of good times in Dominica, they will wish that they were present. Do not deny them their rightful feeling.
Dominica is really lovely. The kids looks lovely and innocent .Our national wear is something to be proud of. Well am not gonna say i miss home now cus am home as often as can be,but from next year God willing all roads lead to dominica..Dam i love that country so!!!!!!
