Financial advisor to PM Skerrit appointed UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador

Ktorides

A Cypriot businessman and philanthropist, whom reports had suggested was a financial advisor to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, has been appointed Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The Cyprus Mail has reported that Nasos Ktorides’ appointment will be announced officially on February 29 in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus.

The Mail reported that in June 2011, four international personalities:  the President of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik,  Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit, former President of Cyprus Glafcos Clerides, and the Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, Hieronymos II, sent a written proposal to the United Nations encouraging them to use the offices of Ktorides.

According to the Cyprus Mail Ktorides, 44, has served as financial adviser to PM Skerrit and has received a medal of honour and a diplomatic passport from Dominica for his contribution to the island.

The Cypriot newspaper also said in 2009, President of that country, Demetris Christofias ratified his appointment as Consul of the Commonwealth of Dominica in Cyprus.

The paper reported that Ktoride recently donated clothing to 100 needy children in Dominica.

Ktorides is the founder and chairman of Quantum Corporation Group and the Athanasios Ktorides Foundation. He served as executive vice-chairman of the Commercial Bank of Greece-Cyprus, and is the founder and chairman of Euroinvestment.

Ktorides also heads DEI-Quantum Energy which last month announced plans to set up a submarine power cable linking Israel, Cyprus and Greece, at an estimated cost of around €1.5 billion.

Cyprus is a Eurasian island country located in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, east of Greece, south of Turkey, west of Syria and Lebanon and north of Egypt. Cyprus is the third largest island in the Mediterranean Sea and is a member of the European Union.

Never in the history of Dominica, have there been so many controversies surrounding the sales of our passports. Secrecy regarding diplomatic appointments, issuance of diplomatic passports to non-Dominicans. What next? Transparency is sadly lacking. Yet amidst all the cries and advocay by the Dominican public to STOP those sales, authorities are adamant to continue. As the popular saying goes, “Ten people in a room, one man farts, the whole room smells.”

The entire country and its citizens will face the negative consequencies and the wrath of Papa God. Too much !! Too much !!!and it would not STOP. There is too much money to be made from those sales. But who really benefits? Dominica or a FEW? Make your eyes boil your peas. Dominica is sliding down a slippery slope. But who cares? The situation with those Passport sales have reached uncontrollable proportions. Who will BELL the CAT?

A financial advisor to Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit in not necessarily an advisor to the Commonwealth of Dominica. Mr. Skerrit is fast becoming a man of wealth and maybe is in need of financial advice. Mr Skerrit has the right to chose any one he desires as his financial advisor. Mr Skerrit is Dominica and as such one should not be surprised in his choice of white foreign man as his advisor.

Quite right, except when the adviser is rewarded for his services with a diplomatic passport and an official Dominican award. In that case it becomes an issue of public concern. Cyprus is a well established financial off-shore centre.

For those naive Dominicans who seem lost in the world of ignorance and IN THE HEMISPHERE of DIPLOMACY let it be spelt out loud and clear that the way this works has nothing to do with Dominicans and thier ability to serve !
IT IS THE MOST LUCRATIVE PART OF TODAYS POLITICS –IT IS THE REASON FOR THE DESPERATION TO SERVE– IT IS THE MONEY TREEE for the NEWLY emerging DEMOCRACIES and small country states ..IT IS THE REASON WHY MINI STATES IN THE CARIBBEAN WISHES TO REMAIN SO –NO POLITICAL INTEGRATION so as to personally CASH IN AT THE ALTAR OF THE APPOINTMENT OF INTERNATIONAL PERSONALIITES WHO NEED DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY .
THESE PEOPLE HAVE PAID AND WILL PAY MIILIONS OF US dollars TO LEADERS to remain above the law WITH DIPLOMATIC IMMUNNITY as DIPLOMATS where they can earn in nefarious and sometimes well earned dollars which makes their investment worth the while .
IT MUST BE NOTED THAT THESE FOLKS DO NOT INVEST GIVE SCHOLARSHIPS OR OTHERWISE ASSIST THE STATE,IT IS A DIRECT CORRELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THEM AND THE SOMETIMES SUPREME LEADER WHO DOES NOT REPORT THIS PERSONAL AFFAIR TO ANYONE .
Is is interesting that the word ECONOMIC ADVISER IS USED IN THIS CASE WHICH IS AS CLOSE TO THE TRUTH– TONGUE IN CHEEK REVELATION IF EVER THERE WAS ONE !!!
It willl suroprise -shock Domincans to visit he counties wher we have OFFICES set up flag and all as is the case of the UNESCO OFFICE IN PARIS unknown to 99% of our people .
Embassies I MAY WISH TO REMIND HAVE AUTHORITY TO PROCESS PASSPORTS … is that pay back opportunity as well ???
MBASSORDIAL APPOINTMENTS is the HIDDEN source of many leaders and their surrogates –it is where LEADERS HAVE BECOME MILLIONAIRES!!
This is not about country or people ..this is what the new age politics is about .. PERSONS ARE SEEKING GOVERNMENTS TO THROW THIR MILLIONS AT FOR IMMUNITY !!!THIS IS GIVEN TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER PER COUNTRY !!
INDEPENDENCE has provided the avenue for passports and DIPLOMATIC APPOINTMENTS for this RICH source of wealth of the aspiring politicians soon to be MULTI MILLIONAIRES…with NEW CASH ability to buy the DEMOCRATIC PROCESS WITH MUCHO $$$$$ by giving from that bank of DIPLOMATIC APPOINTMENT opportunity to all the persons who are now silent and paid for their support OR TO THOSE WHO NOW GET HYSTREICAL WHEN THEIR SOURCE OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT IS THREATENED from the tricke down as beneficiaries of the LOOT !!

When will some of our people stop condoning the sales of our Passports? Please for Dominica’s sake and for the sake of the innocent, hard-working citizens, Govt. must begin to listen to their cries and concerns to STOP those sales immediately and inquire into those sales. No transparency. No accountability. Too many secret deals, non-Dominican Ambassadors appointed to represent Dominica, but we do not know about those things. Information hard to come by. Those patriotys who sacrifice, investigate and inform us are maligned, sued and demonised.

Selling diplomatic immunity? Selling our collective property, our Passports? Selling our Sovereignty? Who are those few making all those $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$? how much goes to our treasury? Where are the investments? Are we so foolish to be bamboozled and fooled so often? whose fools are we? When will Dominicans realize that selling of our passports have caused many more problems than we ever thought. Why won’t the authorities STOP? Too much money involved? Good Business? lucrative business? but in whose interest? Dominica losing BIG TIME.

A matter of time before I take my Dominican Birth Paper and Passport and wipe my behind with it…then I will renounce the citizenship.

Every couple of weeks I’m hearing a foreigner received a diplomatic passport, like there’s no qualified Dominicans by birth who can do the job.

I mean, what pride is there in a Dominican citizenship, when foreigners can just buy it or it is being handed out like dollar bills.

Passports-Diplomatic ones as well, selling like HOT BREAD. Where have all those passports gone? To Whom? How much money from all those sales? Where are the investments?

How many diplomatic passports have Skerritt issued and to whom? Does our Constitution give any leader the right to dish out our diplomatic passports to whoever? What else would Dominicans accept without a murmur from certain sections? If sales of our Passports to all and sundry, with little or no TRANSPARENCY, is right, God help us all. Men have lost their REASON.

How comes Dominicans first got that news from one of the patriots, not from their Govt.? Financial advisor to Skerritt or to the Govt. of Dominica? What is the job of the Financial Secretary and the other trained Civil servants trained in Finance/Accounting/Economics? Isn’t it to advise Govt. on financial matters?

How much was paid for the diplomatic passport? Who has appointed Skerritt and where did he get the mandate to just issue Diplomatic Passports to whom he wants, when he wants, where he wants and how he wants? Which clause in our Constitution gives any Leader that RIGHT to do those things and without even telling the people about such actions? Thanks to the patriots like Thompson Fontaine, Linton et al, we are able to receive information regarding issuance/ sale of our sacred Property, our passports. Their revelations have exposed the irregularities and secret deals going on.

Our Passports have found themselves in the hands of all kinds of foreigners, some with reputable dealings. In the region and Internationally, Dominica’s name has been tarnished with those secret deals involving our Passports. Yet, authorities refuse to admit and would not STOP those sales. Not only Skerritt and his DLP operatives, but all of Dominica and its people will pay for the stubborn, and arrogant attitudes and BAD GOVERNANCE OF THE REGIME.

With all the natural resources that Dominica possess, fresh water in abundance, fertile soil, why could we not create our own wealth, instead of selling passports black is white, with no transparency or accountability? What “Economic citizenship programme?” The programme is all about selling passports, selling our Sovereingty and dignity, some buying diplomatic immunity. Where are the investments, the projects by those who bought our passports as so-called economic citizens? LARGEN !! LARGEN !! MONEY for A FEW, but no benefit for the country. In fact, is problem for our beloved Dominica and Dominicans. Youy all like it so? Who have eyes to see, let them see. Who have ears to hear, Let them hear. The calypsonian warns, “We all will be on Fire,” if we just stand there and do nothing about those irresponsible acts. Do we love ourselves? What about our Country? Are you helping, condoning, agreeing to the selling of Your country and everything that is in it for a FEW DOLLARS more? ARE SO MANY SO BLIND, THAT THEY COULD NOT SEE Dominica is being SOLD PIECE by PIECE, day after day?

Absolutely no transparency – How was this man selected to be the PM financial advisor. I guess their is no living Dominican – by birth – qualified for such a position. Or maybe was a deliberate move to keep Dominicans on a whole out of the financial schemes and policies being pursued.
I am always amaze by the way our politics run. We have tens if not hundreds of Dominicans out their qualified in economics and finance but not one is qualified to be the PM advisor. Imagine this being the case in Barbados – never happen!
Now we must wonder why we are bankrupt of ideas and innovation that can move us forward sustainably as a nation. We spend and invest money educating our own so that some place else can utilize their talent and expertise – where are the returns to our society from these investments??? It is also foolish to believe that this man (whomever he is) is not getting paid. Nothing in life is free – he may not take a dollar from us today but he sure will be getting his returns for his time. HE IS A BUSINESSMAN AND HE UNDERSTANDS INVESTMENTS.

My family and I I have donated and will continue to donate to the needy in Dominica. I am also very much aware of other patriotic Dominicans who are doing the same. Do I need a diplomatic passport. It is obvious that the Cyprus businessman only donated clothes to Dominica in order to cover up what had already been going on. Like Corello he had been given a Diplomatic Passport and his donation is clearly a cover up.

The people who are so quick to defend those questionable diplomats and ambassadors my question is – Did the government informed Dominica about those appointments. When Doctor Fontaine mentioned this guy they said that Doctor Fontaine was lying now they are forced to put their tail between their legs. We want to hear what spin Tony Astaphan is going to put on this one.

Never have our country been so disgraced and prostituted. How many advisors does the PM need and what is wrong with those who are paid in Dominica. If Dominicans cannot see the obvious misconduct in this government it hearts my heart to say that we driving down a precipitous alley.

When it is all said and done the PM will be living out there somewhere, and Dominicans will be suffering and will NOT be able to reverse the effects but settle for being THIRD CLASS in Dominica.

According to his own biography this gentleman has been a financial adviser to mr. Skerrit since 2000 i.e since labour took power, and when mr. Skerrit was a junior Minister under Rosie Douglas. Intriguing isn’t it? Apparently the medal and diplomatic passport were given to him by Mr. Skerrit in 2006. Can’t recall seeing or hearing anything about that in the local media at the time. Why not? What exactly is the nature of the services rendered to Dominica that warrant these honours? TRANSPARENCY, TRANSPARENCY!!
