The Environmental Health Department will be enforcing laws to stop the breeding of mosquitoes on the island.
Chief Environmental Health Officer Anthony Scotland is reporting that an increase in the Ades Egypti mosquito is alarming.
According to him, those who refuse to adhere to preventative measures in breeding the mosquitoes will be prosecuted.
“The National Pest has stepped up their activity on the island in that all around the island they are inspecting more homes. They are also treating areas that mosquitoes are found breeding. We have also been applying legislation laws. There are people who are constantly found breeding mosquitoes and they are now being issued with notices. They will be prosecuted if the measures are not taken,” he said.
Meantime Scottland said officials will be stepping up its education drive around the island.
“It is critical that we manage our solid waste properly. Waste management is important,” he added.
The Ades Egypti mosquito is a carrier of dengue.
They need to quit spraying the streets and start spraying the drainage areas and marshy areas. And they need to use something non-toxic.
ensure that gabbage is collected at least twice weekly in all areas and not once a week or every two weeks and i have not seen any fogging going on in the north of the island, so please step up on this.

Play your part in keeping the environment clean because we will use the laws against you too.
