My condolences. I Have known Mr. AJ from my youth because he was my neighbour for a very long time until he moved to a different area in Massacre. He was a well respected gentleman. Another one of the “Faces of Massacre” is gone and for this I am very sad.

Sorry to hear about his passing.
My heartfelt sympathy to all members of his family. God be with you and grant you strength at this time.
I know the family very well since childhood. As I recall then he was a jovial, friendly person.
He lived to a ripe age. The Lord said to him, “Antoine, it is time to come home to rest from your labor.” The Lord prepared him for His Eternal Kingdom.
Eternal rest grant unto Antoine, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen!

    This is to Admin
I am not surprised at all that you did not show my previous comment and it does not matter to me whether you show this one.
However most death announcement commences with “We have been asked to announce the death of “. Or “the death is announced of …”
But this one starts with “Lynhurst Funeral Home announces the death”. This can be misleading.
There is a saying that goes “when you point a finger at someone you are also pointing three fingers at yourself “.
Your response is very unprofessional and petty. It does not sound like it is coming from an educated person.

    ADMIN
Jeff I am going to post this comment and show how silly you are:
    1. All articles on dominicanewsonline.com contain credit to the source of the article, including this article
    2. Where is the credited located? Under the headline of the story, before you even reach the article
    3. We produced the story and know that the article started out by saying “Lyndhurst Funeral Home announces”
    4. Therefore it is misleading and INACCURATE and JUDGMENTAL to say the article never had a credit to it.
    5. In fact, someone asked us why are some readers being confused when the article clearly has a byline and the first sentence saying who produced the article.

In conclusion Jeff, you and I are educated, but certainly you did not pass English comprehension or any subject that deals with observation and attention to detail.

DNO also has possession of the edited and unedited version of the story clearly showing the byline and credit to the funeral home.

    Enjoy your evening SIR.

      DON

I did not give the article any doubt. I saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. You had valid reasons to post it as it is – the manner in which you received it.
There are some people who are just too critical of every article, good deed and comment.
I love reading all your articles and responding accordingly to at least some of them. Thank you for informing us about the passing of Antoine Etienne.
As a child, I would call him, Mr. Etienne. This is the manner in which my parents brought up their children, to give due courtesy/respect to those who are older than we are, as saying, Mr. and Mrs.
Someone would eventually notify me of his passing especially those from Massacre.
I am also able to pass the information on to others in the area where I reside. who may have not yet heard it.
I received firsthand information from you DON, and I am grateful for it.
I am also able to pass the information on to others in the area where I reside, who may not yet have heard.
      Thank you again.
      God bless you!

    ADMIN
This is not appearing on DNO for the first time. DNO has been publishing death announcements and periodicals for over a year now. And we also have an obituary category which you will see if you click on ALL NEWS. Our last obit was published last month. Furthermore, even if this was our first announcement, death announcements and obituaries are nothing new to the media. In fact, DBS has been airing death announcements on his radio for many many years.

    ADMIN
The comments are created to discuss a story, not to constantly bash the admin and the company. I always tell people, if they have a question concerning any article or photo, send us an email or call, as this is NOT the forum. Comments under stories are not meant for sending admin messages as we provide telephone numbers and an email address for such. I do admire and appreciate those persons who email or call or even text for clarification. But some persons want to cause a scene and to stir trouble; we would not be so foolish to allow defamatory comments about the admin and the business, esp. if it makes no sense or if it is not true.

WHo is he exactly? Did he work at Lyndhurst Funeral home or is this just a sponsored ad?

    ADMIN
Is this the first time you’re seeing a newspaper publish an obituary or death announcement? Have you ever travelled outside Dominica or read other newspapers in other countries? Death announces and obituaries are one of the most popular sections of publications, online or offline. DBS carries death announcements, newspapers in Antigua, St. Kitts, Jamaica, etc carry death announcements. DNO is a newspaper, but it not a print one. Your comment is similar to the criticism we got about carrying regional and international news when we are a Dominican paper, though the critic forget to do some research to know that ALL newspapers, online or offline carry regional and international news regardless of the place of publication, for many centuries. When I read comments like these I have to wonder if it is coming from an individual who graduated from high school. I shake my head so many times, I think it will fall off soon.

      lol

    • Really?!?!?!
      December 17, 2010

I want the people commenting here to understand something….Lynhurst is the funeral home or the representing body announcing the death via DNO, and it is not DNO announcing the death.

On another note, DNO i believe you should remove comments under the death announcement section, this is just my opinion.
