ChildFund Caribbean’s National Office (located in Roseau, Dominica) is a branch of ChildFund International and is recruiting a Business Plan Consultant for the period of mid-February to June 2014. The primary aim of this consultancy is to assist the ChildFund National Office in a credible and objective manner to develop a business plan for the expansion of ChildFund program intervention in new Caribbean territories. The plan will detail a roadmap targeting social problems and advising on approaches guided by the principles of opportunity, innovation, accountability, and financial sustainability through a clear course of action ultimately leading to enduring social impact. Additionally, it will detail the approach to the acquisition of resources through corporations, foundations, governments, individuals, & in-kind goods and services which will support the selected interventions.
The Business Plan Consultant is expected to coordinate his/her activities directly with the National Director and the Senior Management Team (SMT). S/he will devise a work plan and timeline reflecting a Terms of Reference for the assignment which will take the shape of a combination of desk review and travel within the region to meet with relevant Government Ministries and NGOs or sectors working with children. It may also include some consultations with DEV children and youth and their families, some interviews with child and youth practitioners, and collection of in-country stats and information around the thematic areas of ECD, Quality Education and Gender Based violence among other themes. S/he will ensure strategic alignment to the National Office’s country strategic plan and ChildFund’s new Partnership Strategy.
Required qualifications include 5+ years’ experience developing Business Plans and/or managing development programs, community development and/or child-focused programming in addition to a Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) or post grad in community development/social science/Economics. Prior experience working in/with multiple islands in the Region is an asset. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, good team work and a positive attitude are also required.
The assignment is for a limited time of 4 & ½ months. The consultant can work at the ChildFund National Office or from his/her own home/office.
