Apology

live streamingThe following is an apology from ComeSeeTv regarding the live streaming of the 2014 calypso finals.
“We express our deepest apologies to the viewers who encountered an issue in logging in to the ComeSeeTv stream of the Calypso Finals 2014.
We discovered a glitch with the use of Internet Explorer 11 which was no longer compatible with our streaming code and we immediately adjusted by placing an alert indicating that users were to use either Google Chrome or the latest version of Firefox. When Internet Explorer upgraded to their latest version from version 10 it broke support to our streaming service.
We also recognize that while the vast majority of viewers we able to access the stream, some may have had a difficulty in making the emergency adjustments we were forced to make.
Going forward into Carnival Monday and Tuesday in Dominica, fans of both DNO and ComeSeeTv can rest assured that we have worked tirelessly to come up with a solution to the issue, and we have successfully been able to upgrade the service to allow Internet Explorer 11 users to once again enjoy their ComeSeeTv service as normal.”

Apology not accepted! Internet Explorer 11 was released in October, 2013. Its beta version was available at least 6 months prior to that. You didn’t discover a glitch, you were informed about a glitch by your unhappy customers because you failed to test your product against the released or the beta versions of IE11. You got caught with your pants down. Don’t try throwing out technical terms to skirt your responsibility. Man up and take the blame and learn to allocate money and time to check backwards compatibility on your product. Otherwise get out of the streaming business. I got my eyes on you…

DNO – You partnered with ComeSeeTV service to stream the Calypso 2014 show live, therefore you are also obligated to the customer for lack of service received.

I paid my money and only saw half the show, so I’m seeking a refund from either you or ComeSee TV. Grateful if you could advise me how I should go about making a claim for a refund.

    Many thanks.

Proper and timely communication is a good display of professionalism and I indeed comedy you on that.
Added to the compatibility issue with the said browser, there was also a region-lock issue. Can you explain the way forward with subscribers who got the message to the effect: not accessible to your region?
It is indeed a common practice to have digital content ‘region-locked’. However, that should be well explained before subscribing to the service.
