If we forget God

Ministers Wilbert & Jackie Richardson

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” – Psalm 33:12.

If there ever was a time that we as a territory, as a people, as a church, need to call on the name of the Lord, it is now. We need God in our territory; we need God in our communities; we need God in our churches; we need God in our government; we need God in our families; we need God in our lives.

We’re living in perilous times, and time does not allow for us to make the mistake of forgetting God. No matter who you are or where you live, if there was ever a time that your nation/territory, your people, and you need God, it’s now.

Hurricane Season officially began on June 1st.  Many call on God a lot during this time or in times of trouble but fail to serve and acknowledge God when the storm is past and all seem to be well.  Our only hope and help is in the name of the Lord.

People, we cannot afford to forget God.  The God who has brought the Virgin Islands through many rough and serious times.  If ever a time we need to really repent and get on our faces before the Lord it is now.

The alarm is being sounded to the four corners of the earth. It’s a call to repentance and earnest prayer. A call for the nations of the world and the people of the world to turn their hearts to God. A call for the church of the living God—the body of Christ—to stop getting ready and to be ready. “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh” (Matthew 24:44).

We cannot afford to forget God. Only the mercies of God have brought so many of the nations of the world through dark and trying times. Yet, many nations have forsaken God. Many nations have attributed their success and prosperity to man or to other gods. They’re going their way and doing their own thing, only crying to God when they’re in trouble. Yet God is still merciful, and He causes the rain to fall on the just and unjust alike.

It is because of the prayers of the righteous in some nations that the judgment of God is not manifested in more dramatic ways. Yet, when disaster strikes a nation, the hearts of many are turned to God and the hearts of others are turned away from God. Many ask how God could allow it. They fail to see the sins of the nation and the way people have forgotten God and turned aside to follow other gods. They don’t see that as Christians we often fail to humble ourselves and pray, to be spiritually alert, and to war in the Spirit to abort the plans of the enemy.

To ask God’s mercy as Abraham did on behalf of his people. God is so merciful that He always sends warning before judgment. He tells us to warn the wicked. Ezekiel 33:7-9 says, “So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me. When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.”

“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance” (Psalm 33:12). When a nation decides to put God out of the picture or put other gods in charge, a curse comes upon that nation. The opposite of being blessed is being cursed. For if God is not in charge, then the devil is. If we take God out, then we’re opening up the door for the devil to come in and reap havoc in the nation, in the people, in the families, in the communities. “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20). People, we cannot afford to forget God, for if we do, the wrath of God will come upon us.

SINNER’S PRAYER

If you don’t know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and would like to accept Him today, please say the following prayer.

Dear God,

In the name of Jesus Christ, I acknowledge that I am a sinner and that I need a Savior. Forgive me of all my sins and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Your Word says in Romans 10:9 and 10 that if I confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus Christ and believe in my heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, I shall be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. I now confess Jesus Christ as Lord of my life. In Jesus’ Name, amen.

Lostsheep446: There are many people who ask these questions, and others who are afraid to ask. First, there is only one plan of salvation. We had all sinned according to Romans 3:10,23. God sent His Son to die for our sins, that is, to pay the penalty for us. Romans 5:6,8. When we believe this – rely and depend on it – we receive everlasting life according to John 3:16. Christians are not perfect, only forgiven. But because we now have the Divine nature within us according to 2 Peter 1:4 we want to please God. When we fail we are sorry for our wrong doing. When we trusted Christ as our Savour we came into a RELATIONSHIP with God as sons or daughters. If we sin after we are saved the RELATIONSHIP does not change. What changes is our FELLOWSHIP with Him. We lose the joy of His presence and the blessing of that happy unhindered communication a son or daughter normally has with the Father. If you are a parent you understand this. Your child is still your child even if he or she disobeys you! But you know things are not right between you! Unfortunately this happens more often than it should in the Christian life. This is because even though we have received a NEW nature – the Divine nature – we still have the OLD nature as long as we are in this present life. This is the nature we inherited from Adam. So listen now to what the Word of God says about what happens when a Christian sins. This was given to us by the Apostle John. He wrote `If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not n us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and jut tyo forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.` (1 John 1:8,9) Finally, you asked if a person could be good, hard working, and honest, and be accepted by God (I assume you mean without personal faith in Christ). The answer is no. A person is not saved by being good, hard working, and honest, etc. We are saved by believing in – and receiving – Christ according to Ephesians 2:8,9,10. (However, a person who is saved WILL be good, hard working, and honest. But we do the right things because we ARE Christians – not to BECOME Christians. Also take a look at 1 John 5:11-12. Only those who have Christ – the Son of God – have eternal life! I invite you t visit my website http://www.livinghopeministries.ca and click onto THE EAGLE COURSE. That would have been a very good step Lostsheep446, but yet still, God will not accept us
because we haven't accept him according to his word. He loves us but hate the sin that is within us .

We were all born in sin (because of the fall of Adam & Eve) and because of this, we need to sincerely ask for God's forgiveness and accept him (repentance).

Then you must feel a difference in your life! Don't forget the trouble maker SATAN, that will come to confuse your brain, as he did to Adam and Eve!

There is a great need in the body of Christ on the teaching of faith, what is it, and how can I grow my faith, think of that, without faith, it is impossible to please God. I have found out that unless I am educated in a certain field I canot be effective in it, The question is what is faith? Do yo know that you have enough faith for whatever situaton you are facing? Look at this truth, God has given to every man, the measure of faith
Worry is caused by lack of knowledge when you are full of faith you cannot worry

    Benyahmeen,

You have made some valid points, and you seem to understand that belief goes way beyond the realm of christianity. Love is not about which denomination one belongs to, but the depth of one's caring for everyone that he/she encounters.

    To: Birdie,

Funny. Is that how you give guidance to a lost sheep? You are supposed to be a fisher of man; but you are criticizing me,because I seek knowledge from someone like you on a subject that eludes me. Your religion is not unique. It is just one of many; and everyone of them are just going in circles trying to proclaim themselves the chosen religion. In truth, I do not think that God would be happy with your fire and sulfur answer to a lost sheep.

Let's not forget that Christianity is just one of the religions that people acknowledge and was first started in Rome by Constantine of Constantinople. What about those who are not christians but believe in the most high God? There are Buddhists, Muslims, etc.,. Does that mean that they will be lost as Christianity teaches? What did Abraham, Issac, Jacob and the great prophets believe? They certainly were not the followers of any religion but just lived according to the commandments of Yah or God. Man has come so far from God and has taken on so much religion that he is going around in circles. Religion is really not the answer and like you commented every man sins and even those who preach are not even right with God.

My Dear Benyahmeen: Christianity began with Christ. It was not started by Constantine. Those such as Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob believed the prophets of God who told them someday God would send a Saviour into the world. They believed and looked FORWARD to His coming. Christians today believe and look BACK to His having come! Others you have mentioned who follow heathen religions which worship idols or false (imaginary gods) are in darkness. Christ has commanded us to take (or send) the gospel to these people so they also will have an opportunity to believe and be saved. We do this because the Bible tells us clearly that Christ is he only Saviour. There is no salvation outside of – or apart from – Him. Please examine the scriptures for yourself in John 14:6 and Acts 4:12. You say that there are people who don`t know the God we serve who obey His commandments. This is not the case. When our missionaries have gone into heathen lands where Christ is not know they have found people doing things incredibly sinful by God`s standards which he has given us in the Bible. However, even if they were obeying God`s commandments (which they were not) that would not save them and make them ready for heaven. We are not saved by our righteous works because salvation cannot be earned. Please check it out in Ephesians 2:8-10. We must believe the gospel as it is defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, and receive Christ as our Saviour according to John 1:12 and Revelation 3:20. Beny, it actually doesn`t make any difference what you think or even believe about Abraham, Isaac, or Jacob, or the Buddhists,or the Muslims. When you stand before God He will ask you only one question. He is going to ask you what you did with His Son, Jesus Christ! Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Pentecostal Evangelist.

…and although it is true that we need God in our lives, you make it seem that the period we are living in is unique. Have not there been turbulent times from the beginning, and each of those times have been exalted as “nearing the end?” Are you saying that it is as a result of “sinners” not praying to God that disasters such as hurricanes come about? You say that there is a sinners' prayer. Does not even the righteous sin? And if that is the case, then there is a constant fluctuation between being righteous and being a sinner. Is not that the purpose of repentence? Do you believe that the righteous will sin, because he/she knows that there is always an avenue for redemption through repentence ( like cashing in your chips when your luck is down)? Do you believe that a person could be good, hard-working, honest, family-oriented, dedicated, not a christian, and he will be accepted by God? I am asking you, because I would like some guidance from you.
