NATURAL HEALING: Emotional Problems

Lucia John, PhD
Lucia John, PhD

When we have emotional problems, we have little or no control over our feelings. We say or do things in a way that we would not have, under normal circumstances.

The feeling level is responsible for our emotions, so when that sense goes off balance, we fail to interpret or express our emotions in a normal way.

Feeling is the basis of thinking –as we think, so we act and react.  As we think, so we speak, so our speech is affected. We may speak in a non-sweet way, or tell lies, or and we may use foul language.

Feeling is based on the state of our BEING – how we are within ourselves. Are we experiencing inner peace, or are we in constant turmoil within.  We feel good and we experience happiness.  We feel less good and we experience anger, agitation.  The deepest level of inner peace is that level within us which is completely still. This the state of BEING.

This is the state of Transcendence. It transcends all levels of activity. In other words, it goes beyond all active levels of the mind. Tranquility, inner peace, serenity, silence, stillness, these words, in their deepest sense, all describe the same thing; transcendence.

The simplest and most effortless technique to experience Transcendence, is through Transcendental Meditation. This technique of Deep Meditation existed deep in the Himalayan Mountains for thousands of years, until it was brought to the west by a sage called Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.

Prayer brings inner peace also and people who are very prayerful are normally calm, self-controlled and positive.

In order to maintain emotional balance, one must experience this silent part of the mind day and night, or morning and evening.  In the morning, one experiences it to prepare oneself for the day’s activities, and in the evening, one experiences it again to eliminate whatever stresses that one may have accumulated during the day.

Without some level of tranquility in one’s life, the emotions can easily be thrown off balance. The result will be frustration, constant anger, rage, negative emotions like fear, hatred, bad habits, vices etc. negative intrusive thoughts, perversions, just to name a few.

Any intense negative experience can throw one’s emotions off balance:

Of the five senses, feeling is the strongest. Feeling can be balanced and bring us fame and fortune, make us self-confident, because we feel good within ourselves. We feel good with others. We feel good and at peace with our Creator.  We enjoy life to the max.

Feeling can also be imbalanced and we doubt everything and everyone. We doubt ourselves, we are as if out of touch with ourselves and therefore out of touch with reality, because reality is what we really are within.

If someone experiences trauma, be it mental – emotional, sexual – physical, or spiritual, it creates a stress that remains on the nervous system and expresses itself again and again in the person’s life when triggered. This we call Post Traumatic Stress. Most children who experience ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) may exhibit symptoms of PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Disorder as well.

Eg: If we are too dependent on someone or something and suddenly we lose this someone or thing, it can throw our emotions off balance, and in our society, we call that condition “gros-poele” The person experiencing this condition cannot stand the break-up or loss. They feel that they cannot live without the absent person or thing.  In the presence of the person, they can function in a limited way, but in the absence of the person, they feel totally useless.  This condition can bring on serious mental debilitation if it is not taken care of in the proper way.

The first thing to do is press the RESET BUTTON. Experience deep silence morning and evening. This calms the mind and brings back the feeling level and therefore the emotions under control.

To help with such a case, seek the company of positive, supportive persons. Eat proper foods, stay away from what is considered junk foods. We are what we eat, and the more deranged the feeling level, the more we crave junk foods and drinks, and the more we will crave substances that will make us even more imbalanced – alcohol, cigarettes, drugs and the like.

Practice Yoga, Ayurvedic Treatments, Gem Light Therapy, VedAroma Therapy, Sound Therapy, to name a few helpful techniques.

More next week on how feelings affect the body and can make us sick, and how we can regain balance and well-being in a simple, natural way with the experience of Transcendence and Natural Healing.

I understand exactly what Dr. John is talking about, because I went through rough times when I was at college. During my first year, a guy swept me off my feet and then just dropped me for my best friend. Needless to say my college years were like a living hell. I could not focus or concentrate, I had no memory, and I failed most of my courses although I tried my best to study and do my work.

I have gotten over him, but I still feel that this incident comes up from time to time between me and my friends. I have lost the ability to trust. I see this as a Post Traumatic Stress and would certainly like to seek your help, Dr. John Thanks for writing this article.

As I have already said to Gary, in my comments below I do not expect to receive thumbs commendation from you people–because my writing is Spiritual and the natural man cannot receive the things of the Spirit of God. But make sure that you read my messages, because they are the message of the Spirit to you all.

After you all have read them, thumbs down as much as you can–but this will not affect me; for God knows that I did the work He called me to do.

You people are just like in the old Testament of the Bible, God’s chosen people killed His prophets–who were speaking the Gospel of Life to them. When He came in the form of His Son, Jesus Christ–they also chose to crucify Him. It is not that God did not expect that happen, as I do not expect you people to understand or accept me.

However Jesus’ mission was fulfilled–He will not die again, on behalf of no one; but those who will not accept His servants in this world will know of their torments of death in “Eternity”

Jesus warned His people through the man named Nicodemus, saying: “That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit; do not marvel when I say that you must be “born again” of water and the Spirit”–Read the whole story at John chapter 3

We know nothing about Life, unless we have encountered the “New Birth” this birth is Love–the Light of Jesus Christ in us–by which we live and grow in the Life of Love in”Spirit”, “Truth”, and “Righteousness”.

“For the body without the Spirit is dead”–dead as a sleeping bat; so are those of you who cannot receive my message of Life–good grief!

Liz as a teacher you should be able to say what u want in fewer words. You lost me with all you words. I cant understand what u trying to say.

      @Rainbow February 10, 2014

You are telling me exactly what I have said above. I am a woman of the Spirit, and unless my reader is a Spiritually discerned person–he and she will not comprehend my message.

That message of mine above is a message to those who are simply giving me thumbs downs–for one reason of the other. I am asking them to make sure they read what I have wrote, even if they won’t accept it.

You were lost because you are not a scripture learned person–and I mean taught by “God’s Holy Spirit” that is another reason you cannot understand my message–not because it is too long, it is only a few simple paragraphs.

But education demands that we read and study books upon books–how did you become a learned person, or are you one of those? Sorry, but I cannot help asking. And I am glad that you know who I am much more than I know you–by your bloggers identity.

Thinking brings out emotions…emotions brings out actions and actions tell the character…..
Intelligence without Emotions is dull but Emotions without Intelligence is DEVASTATING like a burning house

The feeling level is responsible for our emotions, so when that sense goes off balance, we fail to interpret or express our emotions in a normal way. Feeling is the basis of thinking –as we think, so we act and react—News Article–9: 2: 2012

“As we think so we act and react” is parallel to the words of Proverbs 22:7, which says: “As a man thinks in his heart so is he”.

However I struggle with the idea above which says “feeling is the level responsible for our emotions” and “feeling is the basis of thinking”.

As a Christian I am commanded to walk in the Spirit, demonstrating the attitude and conduct of Love–the very Life in me. And yet I am also called to this walk by “faith” and not by commands of my human senses. which of the five of them is the sense of “Feeling”

Not only that, Holy Spirit in me conducts the emotions of the Spirit–which is the attitude of Love, but I do not know when I am putting those emotions on display until God has made it known to me by my channel of faith

The human beings existing by the sole control of the human senses, which sow their seeds on the grounds of the mind for process and production is responding the products of all five senses–not just the sense of feeling–balance or imbalance.

The production of the human mind is the state of “thoughts” which must be manifested through attitude and conducts–by words and actions, whatever their nature –hence how can the sense of “feeling” be the only sense responsible for man’s ability to think, whatever the thought–what are the motivations of see, hear, smell. and taste?

For example the sense of the “smell” from the kitchen–where dinner is on stove– would that “smell’ not motive the “thought” of good food? Hunger might follow, then there comes the sense of taste that might cause the person to eat too much. In fact in that one scene we can have all of the fives senses in command–processing and producing on the grounds of the mind “Feeling” would only have manifested in the desire to eat-which would be “hunger” but then again, the person did not have feel hungry in that situation–but he or she was motivated by all five senses–where this dinner was concerned.

The message of Desiderata says: “Go placidly amidst the “noise” and the “haste” and remember what peace there may be in silence”

So here we have two kinds of reaction–of hearing the noise and the reaction through any of the other senses the motivation of “haste” in the individual

And yet we can experience peace and calm, as we are motivated to think or remember that state of silence. Why? Because it is the condition of our mind that matters. Our human will power cannot do the job of Life–regardless of 365 days of human meditation.

For the mind which remains in its carnal condition will continue to produce death–the seeds of the human senses, sowed on its ground.

But the Mind that of the Spirit Love, is the Life of peace and joy, for that mind is controlled by the Supernatural Influence, known as Holy Spirit, when God connects to a person through the “new birth” and in conscience.

      • February 10, 2014

Why all the jargon again with The message of Desiderata.I would like to ask you how do you condition the mind, since you it is the condition of our mind that matters as you believe,is it not through discipline, and one such discipline is will power and so why are you saying that willpower cannot do the job of life regardless of 365 days of human meditation. You know if meditation was taught as a way of life as religious beliefs are taught this world would be such a better world,do you know also that a good tonic for the body is a quite mind. You must also know that it is not only a carnal mind that continue to produce death–the seeds of the human senses, sowed on its ground, not knowing our self,or who we truly are is just as bad as having a carnal mind. The message which should be taken from Desiderata is, silence is the language of god,all else is poor translation which includes yours.

The reason why you struggle with the idea above which says “feeling is the level responsible for our emotions” and “feeling is the basis of thinking simple boils down to your religious beliefs, that is the barrier which keeps you from understanding. You need to understand where to draw the line and know when such beliefs are applicable, now I’m not saying that you should not have religious beliefs.Religious beliefs can imprison people and that is what you are doing to your self.

You have written such jargon especially your last paragraph.Nothing there was motivated by all the five senses, you left out what is called perception, that is the feeling following a thought. You need to know that the reason for our five senses is to get information from the Physical world, can you imagine living without any of the five senses. How would you know the physical world exist, you should also understand that emotion has to do with feeling. You also need to know that thoughts are things. We are what we think. All that we are arises with our thoughts. With our thoughts,we make the world- Buddha. The mind is everything. What you think you become-Buddha.

      • February 10, 2014

Gary, my friend, all I will say to you, once again, is that I do not belong in any religion whatsoever! This is probably the 100th time that I have told you about this–must be that the storage compartment of your memory is very small, or you do not have any–the same as your wisdom and understanding of Life

The reason you cannot understand that I am not of religion is because you have no knowledge of Life, as I already said–for Life does not belong in the “flesh;” “as the flesh profits nothing!” says the Man of the Spirit, He who gives Life to the world–but of course you do not know Him; how can you know anything about Life.

Now all of your contention against my wisdom and knowledge above is contradicting your own understanding, in that you are speaking against mine, but you are saying the same which I already said: Where did you read me saying that a human being can exist without “the functions of the human senses” for example? How could I say such things, since I am very much human as well.

The difference between you and me is that you continue in sole control of you human mind–carnal in condition–but I am learning to come of the flesh and to enter Life in the Spirit, because my mind is in its renewing process–all human beings must enter this process–otherwise they will know their rewards of death in Eternity.

      • February 10, 2014

You do not know the Word of God which is the message of Life in the Holy Bible, otherwise you would keep quiet when you read the writings which speaks those messages, and not send your foolish contentions.

The Word of God tells us: “But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned” 1st Corinthians 2: verse 14

We also learn that: To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God–who has to be the very Life in man–; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God Romans 8: 6-7

And who is the “natural man” in this world?

The “natural man” in this world is the person who exists with the control of his mind in its “carnal” condition–the condition of that mind can only receive, process, and produce the seeds of the fives senses of:
“see” “hear” “smell” “taste”, and “feel”, which are sown on its ground–those fruits are formed by his and her ability of thoughts–whether positive or negative– and they are manifested through his and her attitude and conducts through words and action.

Gary I am a woman of the Spirit, living by faith, as I walk in Love–the Life of Jesus Christ in me. This Life in me takes the form of “Spiritual Light” the very which my soul, my heart, and mind to grow and mature–rooted and grounded in Love; knowing the fullness of God, the Lord.

You are not able to receive the wisdom of my writing because you are a man of the world–the “natural man” who cannot receive the things of the “Spirit of God”, He who gives Life to His chosen people. You are not one of those people.

And please stop calling my writing “jargon” just because you cannot understand me–for there are people who can understand what I write; to them and to me, the “joke is on you” Hahahahahahahaha!
