LETTER TO THE EDITOR: President Obama attempting to suppress Christianity?

President Obama. Photo credit: www.topnews.in

Dear Editor: American President Barack Obama’s recent statement that “people of all faiths are welcome in this country, and will not be treated differently by their government” is false and contradictory.

Not long ago Obama demanded that Georgetown University cover up the “IHS” monogram representing Jesus’ name above the president’s head during his speech at the Jesuit University. He is also on record as saying that Christian America is “no longer just a Christian Nation”, despite the fact that America was founded on Christian principles.

Clearly the President has an anti-Christian bias that will eventually end up destroying America if the people continue to support him and his radical anti-life social policies that include the advancement of abortion, homosexuality and embryonic stem cell research.

Despite appearances to the contrary, President Obama does not believe in religious tolerance. His support for a mosque at Ground Zero in New York under the banners of “pluralism” and “equality” is merely a ruse to draw Americans more noticeably away from their Christian roots, so that he can further his militant desire to remake America into a socialist nation – a nation where all religion is ultimately suppressed.

hmm.. this article is clearly ONE SIDED!
first I would like to say that not everyone on earth is a Christian and that Christianity was forced upon our forefathers by slavery. The same people that wanted everyone to worship one GOD..(their God) also forced the Indians in South America into a volcano if they did not turn away from their Gods and worship the white man’s God. So please tell me about the principles of the founding fathers in America! the descendants of slave owners!.. anyway.. Since before Obama the saying of “The Lords prayer” was banned in schools. Also since he cannot make ppl pray to satan in schools or pray to Allah, Buddha or Yahweh or any of many Gods in many religions, why should he allow children of other faiths to pray to a God that they were not raised to believe in. Leave religion and the teaching of religion to the parents at HOME! and in Church, or further more when a person chooses on their own.
Secondly… what is the big deal with building the mosque at ground zero anyway.. I understand the implications .. but U also have to look at it from the other view. the people that blew up the tower were suicide bombers.. that means that they r dead! therefore the people that are building the mosque and that are going to worship there are not the perpetrators .. if we r saying America is not a biased country then of course u cannot prevent them from building! its called “The land of the free” so let it be.
lastly .. we must start to view things not from our own light but from the viewpoint of others. If I were brutally raped I would not want to carry and bring forth a rapists child.. and who is America to tell me to do so? It should be a Woman’s choice!.. and on the topic of homosexuality! who r we to judge? we were called to be witnesses not Judges!(if u r of Christian faith) and all sins are weighed the same so all who having pre marital sex and coveting ppl spouses should have nothing to say. frankly I don’t agree with homosexuality bcuz biologically , one cannot reproduce and basic human instinct is to b fruitful and multiply.. but who “de hell am I to tell ppl if dem want fuh buggah nuh fuh bugga?”
Any way .. this is dcanews.. why was this article even posted here? just my point of view.. I know it is the news but I already get this on ABC n CBS i don’t need it on dcanews 2!

  10. religion does not save us!
    September 1, 2010

Let us look at this objectively! The U.S Constitution does not make reference to any one religion being the proper denomination for its ppl to follow since the founding fathers were aware that the United States of America was the “offspring” of many ppls, cultures, ideologies and ways of life, founded and nurtured by races such as the good old English, Native Americans, Italians etc. Why do we make such a fuss about the Muslims building their mosque at Ground Zero if the U.S Consitution does allow for religious freedom? The America that we claim to know has been bulit on the founding principles of equality and liberty. Why be partial now? We all serve a higher power, a supreme. We call him Christ, Allah, Master, Jehovah, Yashua, Father, Dieu, Dios, Buddah etc. It all depends on where we come from. Are you trying to tell me that only those who call him Christ will see his kingdom? Are you aware that there are good-spirited and genuinely “heaven-worthy” peopel out there who do not know his as Christ? So will our Father punish them or deny them of his promise to life? lots of us who call ourselves Christians are selfish, self-righteous and biased people because of ignorance though we claim to be “educated” in the Master’s books and plans. President Barack Obama is only being the non-judgemental and fair individual that he was taught to be and is going in accordance with the laws that his American ancestors had put in place. Stop the political and religious hatred and let us use our time to do the work of God. If you feel that you know the L

Don’t forget about how President Obama considered removing the nativity set from the White House out of risk of seeming intolerant of other religions…yet had no problem assuring the Muslims of their rights. And what about St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church that was destroyed in the 9/11 attack and getting very little support from the local/fed. government to rebuild ? Actions are speaking pretty loud to me.

Would Dominica elect Obama as it’s president ? Neither abortion nor the homesexual lifestyle is socially acceptable here, no ? Dominica, please do not adopt foolish American politics and mindsets.

    @Gene, Toronto:

Why is it you want everyone to have the same religious beliefs as you do or follow your Christian Doctrine. and when they do not, you are quick to condemn and judge. You have aright to your religious beliefs that is fine, but what gives you the right to impose it on everyone else. The United States was not founded on Christian Principles as most people would want to think. If you would do some research about the men who founded the Republic of the United States, most of you would be shocked to as what their beliefs were about religion and God, some would even refer to them as atheist especially Thomas Jefferson he left behind written transcripts describing his feelings about religion and God. and then there was Thomas Pain he was Quaker and wrote the famous book Age of Reason, even today it is banned in some public school libraries.

The founding Fathers saw the dangers of a Government participating in religion, not what you Gene and many others in the US would like but to see the The Government follow Fundamental Christianity. Gene To know a person’s religion we need not listen to his profession of faith but must find his brand of intolerance and that is what it is about, your intolerance for other peoples beliefs, and you wanting to impose yours, that is called fanaticism.

Every man “ought to be protected in worshiping the Deity according to the dictates of his own conscience.” – George Washington (Letter to the United Baptist Churches in Virginia in May, 1789)

“Question with boldness even the existence of a god.” – Thomas Jefferson (letter to Peter Carr, 10 August 1787)

I do not believe in the creed professed by the Jewish church, by the Roman church, by the Greek church, by the Turkish church, by the Protestant church, nor by any church that I know of… Each of those churches accuse the other of unbelief; and for my own part, I disbelieve them all.”- Thomas Paine (The Age of Reason, 1794-1795.)

Everyone is in uproar bout the president and the Cordabo house being built at ground Zero. well if you look at theEstablishment Clause of the First Amendment refers presisicely what the president is saying. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion”. Together with the Free Exercise Clause (“… or prohibiting the free exercise thereof”), these two clauses make up what are commonly said as the “religion clauses” of the First Amendment.

The establishment clause has generally been interpreted to prohibit 1) the establishment of a national religion by Congress, or 2) the preference of one religion over another. The first approach is called the “separation” or “no aid” interpretation, while the second approach is called the “non-preferential” or “accommodation” interpretation. The accommodation interpretation prohibits Congress from preferring one religion over another, but does not prohibit the government’s entry into religious domain to make accommodations in order to achieve the purposes of the Free Exercise Clause.
so what i am getting from alot of the comments is that he should chose one over the other as a sitting president?

Fact: america was not founded on “christian principles”.

Where the hell does the writer get this information?

Then there is this fear that one man can pull the christians from their deity of choice. If your deity is as strong as you say he is he is able to keep you in him. Christianity is no better than Islam. Why do christians want to act like they are so much better than a muslim? They both preach untruths/half-truths/unproven ideas.

People need to wake up and understand that faith isn’t a virtue by any stretch. Not in this modern world.

It has often been seen on the Internet that to find God in the Constitution, all one has to do is read it, and see how often the Framers used the words “God,” or “Creator,” “Jesus,” or “Lord.” Except for one notable instance, however, none of these words ever appears in the Constitution, neither the original nor in any of the Amendments. The notable exception is found in the Signatory section, where the date is written thusly: “Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven”. The use of the word “Lord” here is not a religious reference, however. This was a common way of expressing the date, in both religious and secular contexts. This lack of any these words does not mean that the Framers were not spiritual people, any more than the use of the word Lord means that they were. What this lack of these words is expositive of is not a love for or disdain for religion, but the feeling that the new government should not involve itself in matters of religion. In fact, the original Constitution bars any religious test to hold any federal office in the United States.

Totally false…A complete fabrication and misrepresentation of everything that the President said, and stands for. Pure rhetoric. Absolute rubbish.Quite contrary to everything the President and the United States of America stands for…..Why don’t you get familiar with The Constitution of The United States of America?

You simply cannot fool those af us who know better.
How can the President be anti Christian, when he is a devout Christian?..Are you nuts!…You cannot be serious…You are so conradictory, you are contradicting your own self,in the nonesense that you wrote. It did not take me two minutes to disect what you wrote, and saw right through you…You are nothing but a two bit scalawag….Damn disgrace.
It is almost criminal what you wrote…..though i know that everyone is entittled to an opinion, yet if what one is saying or writing is with the purpose to deceive others,by falsifications, and misrepresentations, that in itself, is a totally different matter.
Those are very strong, and very false accusations against the President of The United States of America,to a foreign on-line publication…I should forward this, along with your name to the Dept.of Justice, and let them decide. You shouldn’t be too hard to track down………………..Jackass!

This is utter nonsense , What you have written. You are misrepresenting everything that the President said….How can he be against Christianity, when he himself is a devout Christian?.
What the President is saying,is that America should, or needs to more tolerant to people of other faiths.
America, was founded and built on Biblical(Christian) principles, yes. But America is a Country of imigrants.
And in reference to the Mosque being built at Ground Zero; the Muslims own a piece of land there, where the propose site is.And wants to built that Musque in question. It is not directly where Ground Zero is,but close enough.
Yes.that is very controversial ,but if I own a piece of property, and I want to build on it,according to the Laws of the U.S.,it’s my right to do so.Without any kind of discrimination.
Even the Mayor of NYC, mayor Bloomberg,is in agreement with it.He said it is their choice,it they want to build a Mosque,he has no problem with that.
So,by writing all the rubbish and nonesense that you did,it’s simply that.Hogwash.
You are totally misrepresenting the United States of America, and the President of The United States of America.

All Christian governments have leaned towards pleasing others, be they the big wheels who are rich and who fund their election campaign. You know, money talks, the root of all evil. As Christians, they never think God and what He will say.
As in the US, right here in this country some parents have disapproved of the Lord’s prayer being prayed in schools. Note what is happening in our schools. Murders, weapons being brought to schools, injuries and bullying, to name a few.
The Lord’s Prayer is taken out of their Parliaments and Legislatures. Note what is also occurring, immoral laws as same sex marriage are legislated. So-called gay pride parades are taking place and on Sundays. This includes lesbians. They are given same spousal benefits. They are allowed to adopt children. Just imagine! And the list of immoralities go on which are enough to bring down the wrath of God on this earth.
I do not remain silent on these matters. I write my MP, Federal government and MPP, the Provincial government who represent me.
Last year I wrote a long letter to the favorite local TV Station(I am famous for that. I have said that when I put my fingers to the keyboard, only God knows how long the writing will be – smile) which I view specifically for the evening news and quoted what is stated in Holy Scriptures about homosexuals. This TV Station has been advertising the gay pride parade. To my knowledge, this year, they toned it down. I do not think that they advertised it except to mention it. As other religions, gays and lesbians expect that the Media will mention it. Otherwise they will complain and report that they are being ignored. This will not be good for the Media since advertisers also keep them in business. It is a vicious circle as I concluded, all for the sake of money, progress and success.
Some years ago a plane crashed in the sea in a Canadian Atlantic, eastern province. Over 200 people died. Every year a memorial service is held in that area.
When Prime Minister Chretien, a French, Catholic Christian was in office, he attended a memorial service. I read in a newspaper that he informed the organizers that they should not mention anything about Jesus – God. I was shocked. Jewish people, as Rabbis attended. Of course, some of the families of the dead (even they themselves) were non-believers or were not practicing Christians of all.
It did not matter to the foolish Prime Minister, in his ignorance that be it indirectly, he suppressed God and denied those who were Christians the godly opportunity of praying and singing to God.
Well, I took good mental note of this. It was not long after that his Cabinet and the opposition turned against him and voted non-confidence. He got so much trouble that he voluntarily resigned. I did feel sorry for him. However, I thought that was his earthly punishment for suppressing God and no doubt more to come when he dies.
We must not always be hearers and readers. We must pay attention to what we read and hear and try to retain what is important. Those who are so inspired and enlightened will do so.
Our God is patient. The day will come when He will mete out His fair and just recompense to such people for suppressing His Word, not worshipping Him and denying others this godly opportunity.
As a child, I recall my mother had a wise saying: “God is good!” I state: “Indeed!” She meant, have patience, in His own good time God will give them just what they deserve. As they treat Him, so will He treat them on that inevitable day. Our Lord Jesus Christ will say: “Amen! Amen! I do not know you!

    @TSB:
Well said. As one who is residing in Canada, I also listen to the American news and conversations conducted on those programs. I write in to their blogs as well and provide my comments.
I have concluded that President Obama is in a strange position. As President, he cannot show preferential treatment to any one group. Every one is looking to him to be fair to them.
This is the reason why he said that all religions are welcomed in the US. Note, he did not state the Muslim religion. He also did not specify that Muslims should build a mosque near Ground Zero.
The Governor of New York offered the Muslims another location and they refused. I do feel that these people know what they are up to. I do not approve that the mosque should be built so close to Ground Zero. Furthermore, there is a mosque not too far from where they want to build this mosque.
CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 program is presently on. He asked a Muslim woman why do they want to build another mosque. Her reply was that the other one is too small. I am stating really!
There is a concern that this mosque will be funded by radicals and also Iran. He also asked about the funding and where it is coming from. She did not give a straight answer except to say that they are fundraising. I hope that the US government will not provide funding to them.
And by the way, I understood there were two Dominicans who died in the inferno, as I call it, on 9-11. One, a man and a woman. A friend who resides in New York had sent me the picture of the man. I still have the picture. I also understood that the woman worked in a restaurant on the top floor of one of the twin towers. I have no idea if their bodies were ever found. If they were found, probably not intact. It is my feeling that their remains are buried at Ground Zero.
If the Muslims are determined to build, citing their religious and personal rights, no one can prevent them from doing so. I do feel there will be trouble either while it is being built or after it is built. The controversy goes on.

Wey papa, who is this one nuh… Anyways Chris Taylor, i think your thinking is quite that of a radical. If you look at many official gatherings, not only of America, you will see that they always cover up what`s in the background and put up the flag etc.. something depicting that the this is an official address. This doesn`t mean that he doesn`t support Christianity. Actually i think that Obama is trying really hard to please everyone. And because he is black, he is under more pressure than the past presidents, so he is trying to make everyone happy. That is maybe why he didn`t make any statements against the Mosque at ground zero. He recognised that these people are American citizens too and deserve the right to practise their religion as are you and I.

  38. Gene, Toronto
    August 31, 2010

    @only:
Now just what are you stating that, religion was created to control people. The work of Satan, the enemy of God and of our souls is quite evident in this one.
Who are those people whom you know that religion is controlling? I know none. Those who feel that way are obviously either agnostics or atheists and I feel sorry for you.
Are you disowning what Our Lord Jesus Christ taught us as contained in Holy Scripture?
My Catholic Christian religion and faith do not control me. I am happy and free! Freedom in Jesus Christ, Our Lord who is The Way, The Truth, The Life, The Light of the world, The Saviour/Redeemer of the world, our fair and just Judge, who, one day will judge us by the life we live.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said: Matthew 12:33:37 – A Tree and Its Fruits – Either declare the tree good and its fruit is good, or declare the tree rotten and its fruit is rotten, for a tree is known by its fruit…a good person brings forth good out of a store of goodness, but an evil person brings forth evil out of a store of evil. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will render an account for every careless word they speak. By your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.

…The Light of the world, Christ is our light
We scatter the darkness when love becomes our way
A reflection of His life from day to day…

Those who think that people do not have a life because they respond to certain articles, they are so wrong. A fair and just person will stand up and speak out for the truth even though they are scoffed at and insulted, primarily, all for the love of God.
It is also a hobby to write. Some of us just love writing and responding. We cannot stand that some people speak and write a lot of nonsense – which obviously makes no sense that could educate others. We are driven by that inner force, the Holy Spirit. It is a gift from the Holy Spirit who prods and prompts, to do good and to state what is correct. Not my will but Thine be done O Lord.

People need to wise up to the race and religion cards that are constantly being played by the politicians and globalists to divide people. Look at it this way…. we are all human beings and we didn’t have a hand in what color we were going to be in this lifetime. As for religion……it was created to control people long ago, though it also provides a social outlet. Learn how to think for yourself. That is your best defense.

The whole mosque issue is a detractor to bigger issues and done to divide people and start controversey over something that is inconsequential. Follow the money and the bankers as well as the globalist plan to enslave all the people on this planet.

Fine letter to the editor. But what most people do not know and shut their ears to hear, is that President Obama (and many of the US Presidents before him) is a plain-out Puppet! to the ‘Bilderberg Group’, the ‘Iluminiti’, the ‘Free Masons society’, ‘The New World Order Movement’ and the few handful of persons (billionaires) who literally run this world (this kingdom of darkness). Obama’s decisions do not originate from himself. He is perfect at the helm right now for their system because he is very well liked by the people -so the people will always choose to ‘give him a chance’ or ‘give him the benefit of the doubt’ and usually turn a blind eye to the policies and decisions he adopts for the U.S. people – good or morally detrimental.

While President Obama has a choice, it’s almost not his fault, because he must play by the ‘rules’ (i.e. Their Rules). Want to know what will happen to any President who doesn’t play by the rules of these wealthy, devilish groups? They end up exactly like President J.F. Kennedy! Assassinated. That’s a lesson in history, and for those who know, President Kennedy is regarded as one of the few, ‘real’ U.S. Presidents.

True Christianity (and I underscore the word ‘true’ here) -Jesus- is the only ‘true’ way out from this wicked system -mentally, and spiritually. That’s why they hate this way so much. It speaks and stands against everything they stand for, so I’m not surprised…

Chris Taylor you are an idiot and have no idea what your are talking about. If someone is encouraging religious tolerance, does not mean they are anti.christian. We have a freedom to worship as we please and in all religions we have the over zealous and extreme radicals.Over which the leaders of such sects have no control! As for criticizing President Obama for the statement made when he said, ” America is no longer a christian state” he is absolutely right. If you live in the U.S.A as you claim you would know the nation is made up of several religion and we should all respect each other faith and not act like knuckleheads when someone as intelligent as the president speaks!

I agree with the sentiments expressed here. The more I listen to Obama the more concerned I become. His policies are truly radical. His stance against Israel is also very frightening.

Where the hell did Obama support the mosque? Stop misinterpreting the man’s words fool. The people have a right to build what ever the hell they want. Because in the U.S constitution it clearly states “Freedom of Religion”. Who ever wrote this piece of BS need to get a life…before typing up this bull crap. America is a diverse nation, white won’t be the majority race by 2040/2050. Things change you can’t only support one religion and don’t respect another man’s own. FOOL!

As a Christian, I maintain a relationship with God, in Jesus Christ.

No one can draw me away from that Truth, and especially not the President of the USA, whom I am aware has too many political troubles of his own, to be able to concentrate on what God is doing in his life. As far as God is concerned those men are just sorry people.

If people decide to depend on the President of the USA, or any man of politics, to guide them into a relationship with God, well they are in big trouble for making a foolish choice. God is control by the Right Hand of His Son, Jesus Christ, not man; not President Barack Obama.
