The history of slavery across the centuries and in many countries around the world is a painful history to read, and slaves as well as enslavers have been of every race, religion and nationality. The history is painful to read because of the picture it paints of the human species.
Slavery is essentially a system in which people are treated as property; bought, sold, and most importantly, they are forced to act against their free will. Slavery is still present today, seen in forced child marriages, child soldiers, work slaves, sex slaves and other forms.
There are currently 29.6 million slaves around the world, more than ever before, about equal to the populations of Australia and Denmark combined.
I feel sorry for all involved i watched a documentary on modern day slavery from different aspect and it’s really sad, i also feel sad for the mental slavery that is now imposed on us here in our sweet little island Dominica, enslaved by politicians who have the biggest cult ever and keep fooling the illiterates but by the grace of God things will change.
The African slave trade is not solely to b blamed on Europe but Africa itself has much of this to blame on themselves.
I also think that we should forget about that and move on as a people. We need to know what is actually going on today
I am sorry, but despite of how real modern day slavery is, I’m not really interested.
You know, I’m more interested in the African Slave Trade of my fore-fathers. This is what I want to be discussed, actively.
Why? Because some ‘individuals’ refuse to confront this injustice, but daily uses excuses like modern day slavery (not the same)to justify their modern day racism; my bad, unfairness.
