Full support for sainthood of Pope Pius XII

Dear Editor,

Regarding the  AP article “Pope defends Pius against Jewish critics at Rome Synagogue”, January 18, 2010:

I commend Pope Benedict XVI for defending his recent decision to move Pope Pius XII a step closer to sainthood. Despite largely Jewish efforts to cast a dark shadow over Pope Pius XII ‘s good character it is an  irrefutable fact that Pius II and the Catholic Church saved more Jews in Europe during the Second World War than any other party, with the only exception being the Allied liberating armies themselves.

He often acted secretly and silently because, in the light of the practical situations of that complex period of history, he foresaw that only in this way could he avoid the worst and save the greatest possible number of Jews.

In 1946 Isaac Herzog, chief Rabbi of Jerusalem wrote a letter to Pius XII thanking him for helping Jews during the Holocaust and for “sheltering thousands of children, who were hidden in Catholic institutions”. Herzog further stated: “God willing, may history remember that when everything was dark for our people, His Holiness lit a light of hope for them”.

It is estimated by Gary Krupp, of the  Pave the Way Foundation,  that Pius XII and the Roman Catholic Church saved the lives of 850,000 Jews and other Nazi persecutees during the Second World War.

Pope Pius XII promoted intense charitable work on behalf of the persecuted, without distinction of religion, race, nationality or political affiliation. Relatives and other witnesses have  attested to the fact that he  voluntarily deprived himself  of food, heating, clothes, comforts in order to share the condition of the people, so harshly tried by the bombing and the consequences of war.

With respectful and cordial best wishes, I remain,

Sincerely yours,
Paul Kokoski

Why the fuss about Sainthood. Sainthood for Pope Pius XII does not mean anything at all, it is a Catholic thing, but only serves to bring back the age old confrontation between Jews and Catholics, of what happened after World war II, hence again showing what religion is all about, deception, not the search for truth. To device People you have to play both sides, “oh you see we helped 850.000 Jews during the war” not saying what the real agenda is and keeping it hidden from public view and that is still going on to this day.

What Paul Kokoski is doing, is failing to mention the real truth about Pope Pius XII role in what is called “Operation paper clip” It was an operation where the Vatican headed by then Pope Pius XII after the war. worked with the CIA to provide Passports and false identity, helping top Nazi Government officials flee Germany and getting them to South American countries like Argentina, and Chile and even to the United Sates. There goes the deception.

Man, just look at the history of the papacy and all the terrible things they committed. I totally agree with Joker, only GOD can name his saints.

Maybe they saved a few Jews so that after the war they could say that we did something. What about all the rest of the millions. Did the Catholic church ever excommunicate anybody for participating in Nazi activities, just asking?

I say let these guys name their saints, pray to Mary and idols, defend their inquistion, and keep taking people’s money to remove their dead family’s soul from purgatory. These guys purely corrupted the word of GOD for their own goals.

When GOD comes, Rome have to fall. Hey, so much billions the pope sitting on, why the vatican doh send some of that Haiti’s way?

I am so sorry that people are still blinded by that institution man.

It is very common (is it not?) to find that one word has several denotations and connotations. Could it be that “saint” is one such word? Maybe the intent here is not necessarily to use it in the pure Biblical sense.
