pIPER WHY YOU HATING SO MUCH MAN ? FOR THOSE OF US WHO WAS FORTUNATE TO TRAVEL ABROAD , WE STILL LOVE DOMINICA IT IS OUR HOME ,WE MISS OUR BRAF, AND EVENTUALLY WE WILL COME TO SETTLE DOWN ,WE ARE YOUR BROTHER, AND YOUR SISTER SO LIGTHEN UP A LITTLE BIT YOU SOUND SEXUALLY FRUSTRATED OR YOU NEED TO BE CASTRATED.
@ honey baby
I always wish that people were loving (more) and kind and that their words and actions to one another would always reflect it. This is my wish for Dominicans as yourself with no exception. The world would be a better place and people would live happily and in peace with one accord, if everyone practiced those godly virtues. The world also consists of complainers and critics. Some people complain about the state of the world and the state of Dominica. Those who do need to commence with themselves – a change oftheir overall attitude is necessary.
By your words you are no honey baby What do you know? Whoever you are do not compare yourself to others and their intelligence to yours. It is obvious if you were an intelligent, educated person and well-conversant in certain important matters, I do not think you would have made such a statement and undermining this writer. I suppose you prefer to read a lot of crap which makes no sense and are uneducating. You will never learn anything concrete.
It may be that you are envious. Do not waste your time but educate yourself that you too will have something sensible to write about.
The writing is sweet and sensible. I love writing. You should sense that.
This is one of your traits to criticize and not see the good sense of a writing. Cease criticizing what others write. Allow them to provide their comments sensibly which you may learn from.
Place yourself in their shoes/position.
Practice the Golden Rule as taught by Our Lord Jesus Christ: “Do unto others as you have them do unto you.”
If you are a Christian, whatever denomination, you should be ever so loving and kind, to name a few Christian-like virtues.
Have patience. Patience is a virtue. It is one of the Fruits of the Holy Spirit.
You need to convert – conversion of heart and mind – and to be kind, in thought, words and deeds. Some people pray but they never pray to God – The Blessed Trinity – God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit for the grace of patience and other graces which will benefit them.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said: “Ask and you shall receive…” Patience is another virtue which we are to possess and practice to enable us to obtain eternal salvation. This includes getting along with people and to live in peace with them.
When I was a child I had pen pals. I would write to them. I was always told that I am a good writer.
In my adulthood stage I have written on certain matters. Whenever I write, I try to express myself as best as I possibly could.
I have been told likewise by those whom I have written including family and friends. The more I write the more proficient I have become. There is still room for improvement.
I love reading educational and inspiring books and that of my faith. Some years ago while reading a book I thought how could the author write all that, sometimes hundreds of pages. I do not get tired of reading. Those who read good books and writings could learn a lot.
Well, one day I attended a Catholic pilgrimage. I experienced certain godly visions on the site. From thereon I commenced writing on religious matters and other. Have not written that book yet as I have promised. When 2011 commenced, I got a thought, hopefully through inspiration, “This is the year of your book(s).
I attribute my writing as a gift from God. Although I do think that it is also hereditary. It is a gift which I treasure.
As Our Lord Jesus Christ said: “By their fruits you will know them.”
May God grace you with all the virtues. Pray to God for them with a loving and humble heart and they will be granted to you. You will be surprised what you will be able to do. You will learn to encourage others and not criticize them.
God knows our hearts. He grants only what is good for us and the godly use we will make of His gifts/talents and graces which He will bestow us. He does not waste them on those who will not make use of them. I could write a religious column as well.
God bless you!
The pot on the wood fire is a depiction of how primitive we still are in Dominica; in the twenty-first century. Our method of cooking dates back to the more primitive days of the cave, and stone age days!
Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque
be thankful, don’t you know millions of people wish they could cook like that
Don’t be a blundering idiot, Francisco! Are you a Dominican at all?? Don’t try to give people the impression that people in Dominica still prepare food this way on a normal everyday basis. If you are a Dominican at all, you are shooting yourself in the foot by insulting true-blooded Dominicans. In case you want to know, the “braff” is the special cultural treat that every true-blooded Dominican enjoys, and it is best prepared on an open fire while the company socializes at a riverside picnic and the like. That way, the food attains a special flavor, but the real fun is in the process – there is nothing like putting a good “braff” together! My foreign guests have always wanted to capture this in pictures or on video, as they had never experienced anything so culturally powerful! Shame on you, Mr. Dodds – or should I say Mr. Dor-dor? Because that is what you sound like!
BOYYYYY…LORETTA I BRINGIN MY BOWL TO COLLECT SOME FLAT DOMBWAY!
broth is the healthier food dominican should be eating more of that an stop eating junk food
WHY DO A SIMPLE PHOTO HAVE TO CAUSE A WAR BETWEEN FELLOW DOMINICAN A BRAFF SHOULD BRING BACK HAPPY TIMES OF CHILDHOOD FOR THOSE OF US NO LONGER RESIDING IN DOMINICA YET LOVE OUR HOME .THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE STILL IN DA ENJOY
agreed it looking good bring back memories
Oh shut up!!
Listen-up retard, I am in DA 5 times a year. I have plenty of money. I can afford go go anywhere and get what ever I want. You sound like a “doh have noting” hater.
Who do you expect to believe that? I think you should quit one of your three jobs and take a rest for a change.
You are the one behaving like a retard, Neutral! You sound very much like a “never see, come see, come crazy”!!
some people playing never see come see … you follow
This is a great braff. I would cook it and eat it. It certainly makes me hungry. I love West Indian food and delicacies.
In fact I have some West Indian food which I recently bought and I have some cod/salt fish too. Nothing beats our West Indian foods – root vegetables. Those who are overseas do appreciate it because they have not forgotten their roots. They are patriotic and appreciate our food, grown in the soil. They also know that it is healthy food.
Every Dominican abroad including non Dominicans have not forgotten their roots and food. From time to time they cook a good braff – a delicious broth and other Dominican delicacies. No one can take this away from them. They have not forgotten their West Indian foods and delicacies as they knew them and the manner in which they were cooked and the delicious taste.
Why are some of you criticizing the food which Dominicans who reside in Dominica, those who have since passed-on and those who reside overseas have eaten. Keep in mind Dominicans centenarians. The food kept them healthy. Every one of them who passed-on ate it and some of them lived to be a ripe old age and there are still some of them who are alive.
Braff has not killed anyone. You should know that it comprises of healthy food, of the soil – root vegetables and fish and meat.
Why are some of you denouncing it? Give us a break!
Why are you generalizing that everyone who eats it will become obese and unhealthy? You really do not know what healthy food is and that it is beneficial to our health.
I will inform you what makes people obese, eating and not exercising what with nearly everyone driving. There are some who are called “couched potatoes”, sitting in front of the TV and computer. They lack exercise as they consume pop, chips and the likes. When Dominicans walked and for hours from some villages to other villages and also to Roseau and back, they were slim.
They should cease drinking pop which has no healthy substance. Do not eat too much. Eat oranges, grapefruits and other fruits including greens as lettuce and other green vegetables, tomatoes, green and red peppers and cucumbers.
Beans as kidney – red beans, pigeon peas, black eye peas and chick peas are also my favorites. Soy products are also beneficial.
Liquor as also sweetened ones can contribute to weight gain. Sugar and salt should be used sparingly. If we are negligent people we will become obese. Obesity could lead to illnesses and eventual early demise.
We are told to exercise which includes walking.
There is a tendency that some people do not drink water and not sufficient. Six to eight glasses of water – not huge ones – are recommended daily.
I have a feeling why some people may get a heart attack and also aneurism, it is also due to lack of water in the body and brains. The blood needs water to pump it and to refill blood. Another cause could be stress, lack of rest and sleep. How many doctors tell us about this?
You have computers and you can easily access health matters.
It all depends how much people eat daily. There are those who are satisfied with very little, who eat moderately. Moderation is always recommended.
Rice could be healthy. However, rice is not filling as our root vegetables. Keep in mind rice is imported to Dominica.
Root vegetables are grown in Dominica soil and obviously healthier.
Dominicans must appreciate their foods, grown on Dominica soil. They must also appreciate beef, goat and sheep meat and pork including fish and lobster.
While some of you are criticizing “the braff” and how much others eat, the latter you are not certain about, how much do you pay attention to your health, eating nutritional food as our Dominican food/vegetables drinking healthily, getting adequate sleep and rest and avoiding stress? Think about these.
We need to appreciate our Dominican roots/heritage, return to them; keep them and remain in them. How else could we be Dominicans?
I am still 100 percent Dominican even though I reside overseas. A non Dominican West Indian friend once told me that my body left Dominica but my heart did not leave Dominica.
…And you know what? DNO has also helped me in this respect. Good work DNO!
God bless every one!

You see what going on dere? Once is food, everybody jumping around like dey neva see food before. I tell allu already, allu too greedy.
damnnnn i really do must sweet DOMINICA……………….
Those of us living overseas seem to appreciate those things that people at home despise. Some of us live outside of the metropolitan areas where West Indian food is not readily available. The long and short of it is I would kill for a “BRAFF”. I would die for a breadfruit, a yellow yam and some green “fig”. YOU NEVER MISS THE WATER UNTIL THE WELL RUN DRY.
If you love braff so much, you dont you move your a&^ to a city where you can get West Indian food? Allu like to go live behind god back and then come here whining about “oh I mss home” or “Dominca so nice” blah blah blah!!!
Unless you have plenty money, you have to choose the life you live. Either you like dumbway and gel cochon or you like where you live and do without it. Take your pick and shut your mouf.
But Piper your pressure up man? Me self no matter where I am living, I must find the ingredients to cook a braff wi, even if is when somebody coming up to bring the viande pafimay for me!

boy that looking good, d poorer areas in dominica like grandbay cook this alot
U rude and out of place, and though I am not from “poor” Grand Bay, I take offense on their behalf!!! All Dick, Tom and Harry from Dominica enjoy their broth on a Saturday (rich and poor)!!
Yeah and don’t forget those Dominicans living in the US, we still enjoy our braff; had one just this past Saturday. I also find that comment by Shatta rather offensive.
Thank you, all of like braff cook on wood. Grandbay is not poorer than Roseau. We all are the same.
Well said.
Grand bayians are not poorer than the other countries,i am from Fond St.jean & i am telling u all those tipe of food was better than the macaroni & cheese u all eating now & the french frys, our sundays special food was rice any meat & redbeans, if the youn generations was eating like us they would live longer.
From a genuine Grand Bayrian. I love braff cook on wood by the river and if more of us would eat braff, we would live a little longer. Talking about poorer places. Stupes!
You just stupid, douchebag! Quit one of your three jobs and go gather firewood snce you will soon need them to cook that same braff.
you are so insulting, its just part of our culture being advertised why should it be about poor, grow up.
Codi Triple Kay!! HUSH YOUR MOUTH>>U DUNNO WHAT YOU TALKING BOUT!!
Shatta what wrong with you nuh? The first time I was ever hungry was when I left my home in the Grand Bay and go Roseau school. I stay in Roseau and the people give me cleam and dry bread for supper, What you talking about poor and saying Grand Bay at the same time. We never go hungry in Grand Bay, we have fruits and stuff everywhere. I in the foreign now and well want some of that braff right now!!!!!! I miss the freedom of having a jot by the river!!!!!!
Where you from nuh?????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Garcon you making me vex!!!!!!
but where dat shatta from? shatta you from de white house in Washington DC nuh?????? know your dam rat place eh?
I was going to comment on the grandbay remark, but decided we were above this.
Alas you did not have to come on DNO to let us know you use to eat that morning, noon and night.
Poor thing!
