PHOTO OF THE DAY: Dominican-style cooking in the United States

It is no secret Dominicans love wood fire cooking. The photographer and friend, who live in Atlanta, Georgia, could not resist the temptation of cooking a broth on a wood fire. They say it brought back many memories of Dominica.

“You can take us out of Dominica but can’t take Dominica out of us,” the photographer said.

You can do that anywhere you want. What is the difference between that and the lafimeh bbq that passing. Just do it at a time when you bbqing and tell them is pit roasting.

Those doubting this is ATL be quiet folks. People all over the US cook on pits. just saturday I watch Trading Spouses and the man was roasting a whole pig on an open pit with chunks of wood in Omaha.

I was just thinking of that yesterday. I believe that cooking this way gives more flavour to the food. I don’t know whether it’s because everything is natural.

This! must be down South, for sure.

    • Derp
      August 1, 2012

Of course this is the South, do you know how many violations and fines they would get for conducting this activity up North.

      • Or not...
        August 1, 2012

Au contraire, I can’t think of any place in the United States which would find the act of cooking broth on a fire illegal. Maybe some of the really large cities that have some heavy restrictions on fires, but even then, you’re usually fine with a conforming fire pit.
