Well, i can´t tell myself, but my dear wifey is from Haiti and has eaten it all her life. She says this definately IS a Cashima.
This is a pomcarnel or sugar Apple;NOT cashima.
A cashima or Custard Apple can be seen here http://www.bijlmakers.com/fruits/custardapple.htm
Cachema can be green or brown. This is definitely a cachema
The skin of a cashima/custard apple is much smoother than this. This is a pomkannel. We still have both these fruits growing in our backyard.
Thise a banana tree.
Great pic! Brings out the Dominica in me.
This fruit along with many others were all over the village. The sad thing many has fallen to construction and the banana era .
We had so many limes and even palm (butter-maka) on the Cooperative Estate. Recently, I could not even get a lime to make a finger-licking fish broth.
On the bright side, I am actually re-planting some tree crops in as many places that I can.
Kashima, boy, i have not had that in like over 20 years, one of the best fruits i was previledged to enjoy as a child. Don’t even see it at the market
Thats not kachiman. Thats sugar apple or pongkannel
DNO, is this what it is only called, Fruit of Nature? I have never seen this bunch. Some of you readers have identified the fruit. Is this correct?
Sugar Apple = Cannel
Cashema has a brown skin
Pomkarnal. I grew up on that fruit.
What! That’s a bunch of fig cochon right there.
wow
Sugar Apple. Cashemah
I disagree…this is not cashima / cashemah. Ask a few senor farmers in your area and they will tell you cashemah has a more light brownish colour and a bit smoother skin.
So call this what you want, but this is not Cashemen.:)
We grew up eating them because we grew them in the yard when I was a child. Very sweet fruit.
This looks more like a pomkanel than a cashima. (Subject to correction on this one.)
Have many trees in my yard. Very sweet fruits too.
They sometimes can become very big but it is according to the weather. Nice One!
Do you know the name? You have not mentioned it.
Cashimar! yummy
my kashema, oh boy, sugar apple.. the best!!
What a coincidence, I feasted on one of these this morning after a very long time. Oh how I enjoyed it!!!!!!
You are making yearn for some.
I recall as a child I would eat them, if they are indeed Cashemar(?) It is sweet and has a lot of seeds; not much fruit. We knew the fruits but we did not know to spell them some of them especially in patois.
allu couldnt look 4 a nice ripe ting to put there……….. dat green ting will give people “THRUSH”

Were you asked to eat it while it’s green?
did i ask u a question?????????????????!
not brushing your teeth will give u thrush!!…just saying.
Just looking you make sense, that’s how it should look before it ripe, it in it young stage.
