whats the local name of this plant
can someone tell me the local name for this flower… i think its used foe high blood pressure or sugar
The local name of this plant is “kaka-poul”. Not sure why this name was given to such a beautiful flower.
This is the famous Madagascar PERIWINKLE plant Scientific name (Catharanthus roseus) it has many herbal applications but is well known for its use in the treatment of cancer, in particular leukemia.
Care however should be taken with its use as if it is misused it can be poisonous. Apart from herbal use its active ingredient is also commercially extracted for a potent pharmaceutical cancer fighting drug.
I know the Periwinkle but never knew of its medicianal proerties; thanks
Photo of the day is a wonderful thing. But as you know is a whole wide world out there and someone may ask , what is the name of this plant or which part of Dominica was this taken maybe I would like to go there or I should get some of this!
Lovely! Only grown in the nature island of the world
Very beautiful. I remember my grand mother boiling these flowers to drink when her sugar was up and it did her very well.
To God be the Glory!!!
