PHOTO OF THE DAY: Peering back in time

Before the advent of modern buildings these types of houses were seen all over the island. This uninhabited house is located in Portsmouth.

    One of the best memories: listening to the breezy waves of rain fall on that galvanize roof. Wish I had the time to photograph all these houses throughout Dominica…

    Wasn’t much different when Hurricane David visited Dominica. Wonder if it can still stand up to that kind of fury!

    I remember living in a house like that. We were eight children and one mother in the house. We were sll satisfied – now we looking for big room

        you fool is love that make a home is not what it loos like. thats why you have all those with mansion dying because of bills. at the sametime i am not against those who have a bigger house. but those days to me were precious cause we could come together as a family and laugh and have a merrt time. now everyone get so cohpawazon.

        What does satisfied mean to you? Big house? lots of bling? then owing the bank and everywhere else but cannot sleep? Well for some, satisfied means a roof and food to eat, go figure, keep an open mind. :mrgreen:

        I was born and lived for many years in a house like this one.I don’t know wether or not that i was satisfied but know that i was very happy with my hard working mother.It forced us to stay close. Only fights were with the PINESE( bed bugs) and trust me, they were a lot!!!HAHA
