WOW…where are the negative bloggers to at least drop their politics and say kudo to Dominica for a job well done.
ooooops…its not Skerrti , it not Mano, its not DLP..so they are quiet on something so positively Dominican…
was ther 2yrs ago beautiful place to visit
It really looks great but I’m one of those people who think the way that it looked before was better as it had more of a feeling of authenticity looking all old and destroyed and stuff.
Well if you dont like this, walk to the other side of the Cabrits and see an old fort like this one covered in the forest with guns and all. There is alot of variety at the Cabrits if you go and explore beyond Fort Shirley.
If you restore it, people complain. If you do nothing with it, people complain.Sa say Domnik!
I am sure if this was still in ruins some government would have handed it over to some foreigners years ago.
Now Dominicans can enjoy their weddings, banquets, meetings, camps, jazz and creole, educational tours. It is ours to enjoy and share.
Well Jack, if you’ve explored the Cabrits much, you know there’s lots of “authentic” old and destroyed stuff still there.

Dr Honeychurch has made every dominican feel proud. Great selfless sacrifice sir!
Beautiful.
Dr. Honychurch has and continues to do a magnificant job with Fort Shirley. I can imagine a grand hotel in that area with panoramic vistas of the sea below. Too bad it’s a historic park. Keep up the good work.
It certainly looks different more beautiful than when last I saw it. It will continue to be and an additional cite to visit especially for the tourists.
What would Dominica do without the educated, intellectual Lennox Honeychurch? Dominica is blest with one as he, a historian.
I love the cabrits beautiful pleace to visit. This is the place I enjoyed the most going there on school trips. Thank you Dr. Honeychurch fo this beautiful face lift.
a real treasure.perfect place for the Jazz Festival.Thank you Dr.Lennox and the rest of the crew!
A nice capture by Karel White. And a brilliant restoration job of the fort. I assume that the old Commanding Officers Quarters, near the hill where this photo was taken, was not part of the restoration project.
