From the womb to the tomb you are there,
Ever present in every sphere,
Immersed in you for nine long months,
You witnessed my every move, even my sucking thumb.
Your calmness and warmth caressed me for sure,
And enveloped in you I felt secure,
As I twisted and turned to move around,
You protected me from harm and from sound.
At that first phase we had to part,
When to the light I was directed
I longed to stay but alas it couldn’t be
‘Cause my home no longer could hold me.
Having escaped this watery home,
You are beside me at nightly turns.
When tucked in bed the warmth I feel
When mommy puts me to sleep at her will.
Days go by and nights do too,
As I grow up through and through.
Playing hide and seek under the box
Surely your presence was a lot.
As man and woman challenges we face,
When in sorrow, pain and disgrace
When all seems lost and no way out
You always seem to be around.
Some do choose to stay in you,
‘Cause they know not what to do.
But through all the struggles and the fights,
Some always seem to head to the light.
At the end of the road life comes to an end
And really takes us away from our friends.
And you darkness awaits and rightly so,
As we are forever placed in this dark tomb.
From conception to natural death. This is what Our Almighty Father planned for us. No one knows when that day will come, be it as a baby, young child, youth, adolescent, adult. Treasure each moment of our God-given precious life.
I recall reading what a teenager who died (a sad story how this occurred) had written in her diary: “Take each day as it comes and try to enjoy the good with the bad for who knows, how long, one has left of one’s life.”
Thoughtful and soothing!
just lovely
