$4.6 milion road works for Boetica/Delices area

Parliamentary Representative for the La Plaine constituency, Peter St. Jean, has announced that Cabinet has approved EC$4.6 million to finance the restoration of the Delices/Boetica area, which was severely affected by Tropical Storm Erika.

“Following the passage of Tropical Storm Erika, the south-east of the country, and more specifically, the Delices/Boetica area was subjected to severe challenges,” he said. “I am pleased to announce that, having completed the Boetica bridge crossing which created access to the residents of Boetica and Delices, that the Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, and the Cabinet of Dominica have approved a $4.6 million package for rehabilitation works in the Delices/Boetica area.”

St. Jean explained at a press conference last week that the money would be used to rebuild affected areas in that part of constituency.

“This EC$4.6 million will address all of the compromised areas between La Ronde and Point Mulatre. Our particular interest is works that will be done in the upper La Ronde area, addressing road realignment,” he stated. “Works will also be carried in the Ravine Roche area in Boetica, where a massive rock slide compromised the road. Additionally, works will be done at the foot of Morne Margic in Delices (Victoria, Delices), and, importantly, the Victoria bridge crossing, costing in excess of $1 million will be put in place.”

According to the Minister, motor vehicular access is still impossible in the Victoria end of Delices. Thus, work has begun on a bypass road through the La Roche Catholic Church. He mentioned that about $40,000 has been approved for the completion of this project.

Saint. Jean also revealed that several other projects for the La Plaine constituency are currently underway. He said slipper drains are being constructed on the entire roadway in Casgorie, La Plaine, and on “roughly 500 feet of roads” in the lower Balisier area. According to Saint. Jean, a culvert crossing is also to be extended in the lower Balisier area and The Ghetto link road, joining the upper section of Plaisence to the lower section, is set for completion at an estimated cost of $80,000.

Saint. Jean said the government and its partners are steadily addressing the issue of road works in the south-east of the island.

“We have committed ourselves to addressing this road situation, and we should see works continuing in that section of the road, to relieve the people of the plight that they have been subjected to since the passage of Tropical Storm Erika,” he stated pointing out that he and the parliamentary representative for Grand Fond constituency and a team of engineers had just recently visited the affected areas to discuss alternative access routes to the south-east.

Pick the mote out of your very own eye before you rip the mote out of my eye.

In the first place if you were not “dotish; ” that’s Dominica’s lingusts for stupid, youwould know the first letter in the name of people, animal place or things are always written in capital letters. That is taught in kindergarten, if you are so dotish that you cannot recognized an error, you should not even be on DNO. If I saw lair, I would figure out there must be an error since all the appropriate letters are there except in the wrong order wrongly originated, so you are simply dumb, tomake a stupid coment like that!

A large number of self employed people in dominica migrated to other countries after the flood, even before the flood it was an out cry ,things were getting worse ,because they are working harder and see less money but must still pay what ever they had to pay to the gov\’t ,,dominica is in the worse position that i have ever seen in my adult life..if any one needs a good sun tan or a good bath they can get in dominica but otherwise there is not much to offer ,luckily some of the old people have their children overseas that can help them….
Stop fooling dominicans and foreigners by saying things are back to normal in dominica when it is not…

Didn’t we read on DNO a few weeks ago where that lair Petter claimed that everything was back to normal in the country?

If everything was back to normal; I supposed what is presented in the picture happened last night!

I often wonder how long are Dominicans, or at least the stupid supporters, even those who are imported for the price a plane ticket to go home to vote for Skerrit, and clowns like Petter are going to allow themselves to be fooled by the fools who fool them!

Birds of a feather flocked together, the fools who fool their supports, and in the process fool themselves, by the same token their foolish, and dumb supports has no clue that they are fooled by a bunch of fools, who call themselves ministers of government!

Commonsense should tell the stupid people who votes for Skerrit whereas almost twenty years ago he made a promises to take Dominica to the next level, and every five years he makes the promises, one from next level to high level, if they were not…

It is rather unfortunate that you could sit at your home or on your job and describe Domincans as stupid for voting Roosevelt SKerrit. For one thing I know the people of the VIelle Case constituency voted for him so based on your statements they are the stupid ones. Or should I conclude that the above statement was written by a stupid person.Let me go on record as say that Dominicans are not stupid as you perceive. We are intellegent and focused despite the political party we support.
      I THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

I didn’t read his comment but I read yours, and I can confirm that anybody who voted Skerrit is either, Wicked, or Stupid.
