4th Ozone Zone International Photo Competition Announces The Winners The Ozone Zone International Photo Competition which had its beginnings in Canada, this year for the second time got organized in Dominica as the host country. The jury consisting of local and foreign artists/photographers selected the winners from over 2000 of photographs submitted from every corner of our planet.
“We had a really hard task to select the handful of best images” – says Derek Galon – head of the jury, a Polish/Canadian art photographer now living in Dominica. “The quality of work submitted this year is amazing, and what we selected is a truly stunning body of photographic art work”.
“The only thing I missed’ – said Sandra Vivas, one of jurors – “would be more local photographers participating in this fine event. I hope next year we will see some local winning works”.
The competition runs under FIAP, RPS, IUP and PSA patronages, and puts Dominica on the map of international photography events.
“We hope to see Dominica as a destination for photographers of the world, expanding tourism and engaging many fine local photographers in workshops, tours, and so on,” competition’s chair person, Margaret Gajek stated.
Grand Prix went to Leonid Goldin from Israel, while Sandra Garip from Dominican Republic won Best Caribbean Author award.

About the FIAP, RPS and PSA
FIAP (International Federation of Photographic Artists), RPS (Royal Photographic Society) and PSA (Photographic Society of America) are the most respectable international organizations setting professional standards for photographers, photography clubs and competitions. To receive a patronage from these, competition organizers need to follow tight rules and meet various quality requirements. Having a patronage acts as a guarantee of professional conduct and high standard of a competition, making it a desirable choice for photographers interested in competing. FIAP, RPS and PSA medals offered by competitions with their patronage are among the most prestigious photo awards, and count towards special FIAP and PSA distinction programs.
