A really good reign – Miss Dominica

Miss Dominica Francine Tiffany Baron has described her reign as a “really good” one, and is giving some advice to other young ladies aspiring to win the title.

“With everything there are difficulties but it was a really good year when you look back and I can truly say I survived being Miss Dominica 2014,” Baron told Dominica News Online (DNO) in an interview.

Baron captured the Miss Dominica 2014 title and went on to win the Miss Carival crown in St. Vincent. She placed third at the 53rd Jaycees Queen competition in Antigua.

The Grand Bay beauty said because of the pageant, she is now better prepared to tackle her other goals, beginning with furthering her education.

“I succeeded at this goal and I am certain that I will excel at the University of my choice,” she noted, adding her well wishes to the queen contestants since, according to her, “it is not an easy job at all.”

“I think the general public thinks that being queen is looking pretty and wearing a crown but it is much, much more than that.” Being a queen she explained, entails being on a “very strict diet” and being on your best behavior at all times, among other things.

“But my advice especially to the young ladies who are going to be participating in the 2015 competition, because I heard it already one girl wanted to quit, is that you have to remember what you want for yourself and this is the path you chose, this is the option you chose and you have to carry on with that choice,” she advised.

“Our society can be very harsh; they are going to criticize you, whether you do good or bad, they are going criticize you anyway, so you have to learn to let it go and let it slide off and remember that whatever someone says, God still loves you, as much as he loves them. So, remember who you are and be thankful to God for always loving you despite the criticism and critics.”

She said that she has not made up her mind about which University she wishes to attend; she has a few in mind and she will be perusing her degree in Education and Counselling/Psychology.

“Because I am particularly interested in young people as I have been saying throughout the Miss Dominica pageant,” she stated.

“So I hope to come back well-armed and ready to take on the task because I see what is happening with our young people and I always think an educator isn’t just an educator but is also a mentor, a nurse, a friend, a mother and with a degree, you are being fully trained and I will be able to help my young people better.”

A new Miss Dominica will be crowned on February 6th 2015.

This is good news for the community despite the negativity that has been cast over some days ago.
I want to congratulate Ms. Baron for all her accomplishments and also for her future plans.
According to ukdominican,, I would not say that “everyone blows one trumpet” since this is a general term, but I want to say that a lot of positive things have come out of Grand Bay and will continue in the future.
Good and bad exist everywhere but it seems like sometimes we give more attention to the negative.
As a nation we need to see ourselves collectively and we need to stop marginalising each other. We all are a part of each other and the more divided we are as a nation the worse off we will continue to be.
Once again, congratulations to you, Ms. Baron, you have made us proud.

    ONE LOVE

She could have easily won all her crowns if she had a different talent. She’s a talented, beautiful and well raised young woman and she doesn’t have a bad singing voice but singing in the competition is where she lost points. All in all she did her best and she should be proud of her accomplishments.

Well done Francine you made us Dominicans proud especially Grandbay because every one blows one trumpet tune about Grandbarians and it goes as follows that they are trouble makers. I sincerely knows that this is not the case.
goods vibes comes out of Grandbay
