UPDATE: 74-year-old dies in traffic accident

Members of the Traffic Department are conducting investigations into a road traffic accident which led to the death of 74-year-old Augustine St. Ville of Fond St. Jean residing at Wall House.

The accident occurred on Leopool Street in Wall House about 9:45pm on Sunday, September 2012.

Injured are 49-year-old Roy Eusebe of Laplaine residing at Wall House and 39-year-old Janice Bruno of Point Michel.

According to the police the collision occurred when a Suzuki jeep, registration number, PR339 which was being driven by St. Ville in a northerly direction, ran off the road and collided with a concrete wall causing the driver to lose control.

The vehicle went on to strike a utility pole then went down a slope about 21 feet.

All the occupants of the vehicle were transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital Accident and Emergency Department where St. Ville was pronounced dead upon arrival by a medical practitioner.

The other occupants were treated and admitted because of injuries.

A coroner’s inquest will be convened to be followed by a post mortem examination to determine the cause of death. The vehicle was extensively damaged.

Investigations are continuing.

long time ago i know ,apologies for spelling and grammar now . this isn’t about that right now.
Although a long time ago , i’m just wondering if i could ask if anyone could give me more information.
I see comments that say ‘Brother or Uncle?
this was my Grandad as married to my Grandmother Mrs Stville .

I’m not even sure where he was laid to rest ? with my Nanna Edna ? Who took control or responsibility for his funeral? who is living in his house now ?

Is anybody willing to help me know what happened and where he is laid to rest?

    I lost my Nana 5.5.12
    I lost my Daughter 5.5.12

then my Grandad Gus who, after his wife’s passing changed and drunk a lot.

my Dad who also passed 6.2.16 from Cancer was treated so bad by Gus and other people who were in the house. this was out of character . This was not my Grandad that brought me and my sister up as his own -married to my dads Mother Edna Stville.

I would love more information , love to know where Grandad is…

This is sad. Sorry to read about the accident and of the injuries and death.
I am wondering if the elderly man had an attack of some sort which caused him to veer off the road or that the vehicle had a mechanical problem. Either one could have happened.
My heartfelt sympathy to his family. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!
For those who are injured I hope in time you will fully recover.

I am reading the article and I am shaking my head
as a human being as a Dominican.and I am asking
didn’t I just read about someone who died in an accident. If anything we should all take a step
back and realize how unpredictable life is. That
lady who died had no idea and the people she spoke with had no idea that this is the last time
they would see her.It could happen to anyone of us,Life is Short it is Precious,There are examples
everyday.Whatever happen to “today is yours tomorrow is mine”.Is there anyone who thinks that what happen to that lady can’t happen to them?
Come on my people we are better than that. lIVE
LAUGH AND LOVE.Condolences to the family and best wishes to those who were injured. May God Bless us as a nation and my God guide us to love one another as he loves us. Peace!

    tomorrow

I cannot believe someone is dead and some people are more concerned with spellings of places and typos in comments. Grow up Dominicans!

      September 10, 2012

So you think that it was inappropriate for me to comment on the correct spelling of the word “L’allé Coco”, but you have no raction to the comment from the person who said that:

“He couldn’t wait for his wife to die to bring he g/friend in and now he not there to enjoy the house”.?

That only reveals that you’re one of those numerous small-minded Dominicans who are an embarrassment to our country! It’s people like you who hold back progress!

      Damn idiot!!

        September 11, 2012

Teacher.. why do you have to stoop so low as to insult the person and call them an idiot?

This is the only reason why I do not frequent DNO anymore… people are too insensitive when they comment.

      • November 22, 2016

Teacher, you, also, are an idiot. You began a sentence with the word So. You know that’s a no-no-right? You also wrote “raction” instead of reaction.

Check yourself before you correct people.

Thanks for the correcton “check yourself”. It was a simple “typo” on my part. I am mature and intelligent enough to accept and recognize genuine criticism, just as DNO does (I think).

I was not being negative or disrespectful to DNO. I am simply a Native son trying to make a positive contribution.

Just because I spelled a word wrong, doesn’t mean that DNO didn’t also provide incorrect spelling.

I am an individual. DNO is a News organization. They have an obligation to be accurate. I don’t!

    Think about that!

I didn’t look for “Maypwe”.I made a contribution, and everyone is free to make either negative or positive comments about what I said. I have absolutely no problem with that. You mentioned that I can’t write English?

Here is YOUR English, my friend:

        “dont have to call”
“we will no what they talking about”
        “you there critizing those people”

        SMH . . .

      September 10, 2012

I actually found your contribution informative and read over your typos. Afos D/cans hate to take correction.

They prefer wallow in not knowing rather than say ‘oh thanks. I didn’t know that.’

      • Teacher
        September 10, 2012

        Thanks!

My comments were not meant to be disrespectful, nor insulting to DNO. I simply made a contribution. Those of us with a level of reason, common sense, and maturity know that. Everyone else just need to grow up!!

Very sad and unfortunate accident. Condolences to the family of the deceased. Drive carefully, my Dominican people!

DNO, as a News organization/journalists, you have a responsibility and an obligation to be accurate. If ou’re not aware how to spell certain creole words, then simply ask Lennox Honyhurch, or someone else who knows. “L’allé Coco” was named for the numerous coconut trees which lined the bayfront in that area many years ago. It means “Coconut Alley”. They way that you spelled it means “The Lay of Cocoa” There were never any Cocoa trees in that area (I know because I’m from Loubiere).

    Thanks.

well teacher i believe its “you’re” or for short “u’re” (in your second sentence) and you meant “the way you spelled…” instead of “they way you spelled” you so busy to correct DNO you failed to correct yourself.

    • check yourself
      September 10, 2012

teacher please correct your “ou’re” to “you’re” and your “they way that you spelled….” to “the way that you spelled…” before you try and correct DNO.Thanks

    • Rama
      September 10, 2012

Well, the teacher put his foot in his mouth. He did not spell “Honychurch” correctly, in addition to the other misspelling which DNO pointed out. Teacher also does not appreciate the meaning of the word “alley.” The area was named “alley” because there were coconut trees on BOTH sides of the road. Teacher’s understanding that the area was called “alley” because of the coconut trees which lined only the bayfront borders on the ridiculous. “Coconut alley” presupposes two sides!

      • hmm
