Accident in Pond Casse

This is the vehicle involved in the accident in Pond Casse on Saturday afternoon

Dominica News Online has learnt of an accident which occurred in Pond Casse early Saturday afternoon.

Circumstances surrounding this accident are unknown at this time.

DNO was told by an eyewitness some people were taken to hospital but this has not been independently confirmed.

The accident reportedly occurred in the same place where a similar accident last year took the life of 12-year-old Keyana Emmanuel of Marigot.

That accident in May 2011 also left 11 injured.

DNO is seeking more information from the authorities on the latest accident.

SMART is one of the most careful drivers on the road that i know, this area has a strong wind section that pulls the vehicle or lift your vehicle when ever drivers reach the area they need to slow down or drive carefully i ahve experienced it already, SMART would never put people life at risk like that.

Smart! sorry to see u in that man. Anyways we all bus drivers and after talking to u there, I know u would never put your family in danger by driving fast or reckless I know u not like that anyways. Ignore all the nonsense comments. The only thing is I hope the Minister and his PS who is passing there everyday sees that, that section of road only has colas on it. Please Sir send your workers to put some gravels or stones on that section of road before it’s too late. Colas or tar cannot hold transport on wet road it will always slide. Those like me who know it can drive it those who don’t know will slide

Hi East. It’s smart here! Thanks for the kind words man.Just to lety all SMART fans out there my family is ok and I am alright. Let’s all be SMART and do the right thing by keeping safe on the road and thanks to all the SMART fans who called to see how we were doing.

To the people talking about speeding this is not something to make an assumption of. The road is bad and it could happen to anyone so I urge you be very careful about what you say.

Regarding driving and phoning. The passengers on the buses should be more responsible to themselves. If the driver is going to be on the phone, they should demand that he stops to take or make his call. If an accident happens then, they will have evidence of his carelessness. Imagine even the guys driving those trailer trucks talking on the phone and in traffic…… incredible. In Europe you are charged for driving and phoning. Here we are supposed to be charged for drinking and driving.(even if its water)

I also hope he was not on his phone. They driving n looking for a phone number in the phone or riding a text. Lord help us with those drivers especial the uncaring ones in Jesus name.

Yes this is an area that people like to speed. And most of them are driving on bald bannana peel tires. On top of that it is a very wet area and the oil from vehicles sitts on the surface of the road when it rains. Last but not least everyone is in a rush to get to the best rum shop Cheyenes and the Whore house just past it, need I say more?

there is one spot on that road that have a small dent in it,if you drive slow you will not notice but if you going real fast you will certainly fly when you hit it,make it worse if the road is wet..i know

STOP SPEEDING ON WET ROAD AND BE CONCERN ON THE
PASSENGERS. IT THINK SPEEDING IS THE MAIN CAUSE.

This is really something, last year when little Keyana died it was a similar Nissan bus, silver in colour, same spot, and the vehicle was turned over, today, the bus is on its side. The only difference is the registration number (HE262 on May 9th 2011- today its HE465).

There is something wrong with that section of road, it could be one of many reasons: the asphalt, the gradient, the surface, or just careless driving. In any case the authorities must take a serious loot at that section of road.

As soon as I get home I will be organising a campaigne in memory of little Keyana Emmanuel, named after her, to check on all drivers for insurance, vehicle licenses and registration, maintainace of vehicles, conditions of vehicles on the roads, road surfaces and their impact on vehicles and more.

Its amazing that we see what happen to others and the cry of others, to be careful on the road and yet still no one seem take heed. seem to me that accidents a bound to happen. but i do believe one can minimize such, to avoid taking ones life. i do hope every one is okay. we need to pray more . everyone who reads this just say short silent pray for the drivers of Dominica. it wont take long
