Have anyone of you driven on the road? Don’t you know that the bridge in Tarreau is biult for accidents, we’re lucky there’s not an accident the everyday. That bridge is a trap and thank God we do not have accidents there more often.

be a good idea if drivers also learnt how to DIP thier headlights with on coming traffic. Most of
the time your blinded by the other persons headlights. Surprised there are not more accidents. especially when your trying to drive with a sheer drop into a ravine of over the side of a cliff. No consideration at all.

Another accident? Some drivers will never learn to drive cautiously and be on the alert for the other driver and also pedestrians. This occurs worldwide.
In T.O. one evening a few weeks ago I was returning from a shopping mall. I crossed the street and waited for the lights to cross the other one. As I stood there I heard a bang. I wondered what was that. I turned around and noticed that it was a driver of a car which hit another in the back. The driver was directly in front of him, waiting for the lights to turn. I thought what was in his mind that he did not slow down in that area and was he blind or what. It was not dark and there was nothing obstructing his sight. When the lights changed I continued on my way. I could have been a good witness to that minor accident. I knew that the driver behind was wrong. Negligence and distraction of whatever sort caused it.

To all Dominicans out there. Those vehicle that you are driving which is directly imported from Japan are probably very dangerous.

I do know for sure that those vehicles having reach their end of life cycle in Japan are shipped across the globe with a high volume of pre existing fault mechanically.

As an insurance risk precaution, Japan have decide to pass those cars to undeveloped third world countries where there are least concerns to Health and Safety occasionally, overlooked by the states vehicle inspectorate.

As I said before I worked alongside the Police and the ABI(Association Of British Insurances) in the UK investigating Serious Road traffic Accidents caused by bad driving, defective cars and their component which of course are age related which is mainly due to lack of care by the Driver keeper.

Most of the times the result would be that, the owner would usually ignore the faults for a compromise repair ignoring any signs of danger/ wear and tear.

I truly advise Dominicans’ to WAKE up and have your vehicles properly tested . I also urge the minister of Transport to put stronger measures on grey Imported Cars from Japan as those cars are usually in poor mechanical conditions and may have been subjected to a previous Insurance right off.(A Car fit of scrap only)

By putting STRIKER testing measures in place would help avert further casualties.

They need to put speed bumps in keys areas. That will help to reduce the speed.

I do hope the right people are reading this to take strict measures…cause I don’t see nothing happening…the people are asking for the changes and we aren’t seeing anything from the police or transport board or whatever department is responsible for traffic…

We just need to drive more carefully and you see this drinking and driving business that must stop immediately. A little more care and we will be ok. No one wants to drive behind each other. What is the overtaking about? Then your vehicle is damaged someone gets killed or hurt, big problem you have to spend hours on the scene, in the hospital, the police station at court, it just does not make any sense. If only we take our time to drive. OMG!!!

      @ seff

They never learn. Time and time again they are warned about drinking and driving and exceeding the speed limit. Their heads/brains are made of stone that they appear not to care and take their own life in their hands. Obviously, thinking that it will not happen to them.
I reside in T.O. Recently there were a few fatal accidents. In a few cases the young drivers were speeding – way above the speed limit. Alcohol was also involved. It saddens me. If they do not cause the death of passengers or pedestrians, they will surely cause theirs or all of them. When are drivers going to learn?

        @ unbiased Successor

Is it not something that we correct people and we also make errors, as “pleas”. You missed a letter.
The person said “I am a child”. Therefore, be understanding. I did not have difficulty comprehending what was stated.

      Justice Of truth,

You too must be very ignorant for failing to understand the needs of literacy in a developing world.A missing letter is insignificant to being lost in translation which can be demeaning.

So this is the time where you can play that part.Help that Nippa.

        @ Unbiased Successor.

You call yourself ‘Unbiased’. Show yourself to be ‘unbiased’. What have you stated? The person said that I am a child. Have empathy. In time he/she will learn better English. Adults are the ones to be corrected for they have already passed the stage of learning and should know how to spell.
Who is perfect? By no means yourself. I do not need your critique. Leave the person alone and leave me alone. I know when it is necessary to correct and not when to correct. The last thing I need from you is your advice. I do not need it and I am not in need of it.

Ever heard of the saying, “A bad workman always blames his tools?” We always exist in hope land in Dominica.

The present road condition demands the obvious, “Drive defensively.” Too many drivers on the road think the current improvements to the makes it a Indy 500 raceway.

I watch the reckless driving on this stretch of the road and predict even more mayhem as drivers overtake without exercising due caution or merely observing a basic tenet when overtaking – make sure you can see clear pathway to the other side, with sufficient room to get back in your lane once you overtake. And do not overtake around a bend or brow in the road.

To tell the truth, I see scarce respect for the rules of safe driving in Dominica. Trust me, that more accidents do not occur on our roads on a daily basis is due to shear luck.

On my way to Portsmouth two Wednesdays ago, I witnessed three accidents on that road – one by the old Communications and Works Dept., one at the DBMC intersection, and one turnover at the bridge in St. Joseph, right outside the Seventh Day Adventist church. All in one day!!

When will someone…one of the many engineers of road works or civil engineering…not the know it alls on the radio…an actuall engineer who worked with the chinese, tell us y was this piece of crap bridge, left untouched during the rehabilitation? Like seriously? It was a foolish idea to put that bridge the way it is in the first place and the 2nd time wasn’t bright either! Am not sayin the bridge was the cause of the accident buh as a driver…the piece of road is pretty neat but the bridge sucks!
