The body of a man from Petite Soufriere, who reportedly went missing on Saturday, was found in waters off Castle Bruce on Monday.
Sources identify the man as 70-year-old Alphonse Darroux, also known as ‘Brother’ or ‘Rabbit.’
Residents in the area told DNO that Darroux went rock fishing on Saturday and when he did not return by 5:00 pm, his companion alerted the village council and the disaster management committee in the area.
On Sunday a search party was launched but Darroux was not found.
On Monday another search party, which included the police, went out in search of the missing man and acting on information that a body was seen floating in the water near “Lilet” off Castle Bruce, the police were alerted and the coast guard picked up the body, which was identified as Darroux’s.
Residents told DNO that Darroux was well known in the community.
DNO will provide an official police report on the matter whenever it becomes available.
This is not the first time such an accident occurred. He should not have gone out alone. He fell in the water. I wonder what caused this to happen.
Sincere sympathy to his family.
May his soul rest in peace. Amen!
