I’ve said it before and I say it again: no point of having laws if they are not enforced. The most reckless drivers are those that in general have a low regards for laws and rules as well. So it is very straight forward for the police to target these drivers:
    1. Regular road checks in different locations to check for insurance, license, driver permits and road worthiness of vehicles
    2. Daily checks on parked vehicles for license and road worthiness
    3. Increase the level of fines for offenders
    4. On weekends and holidays perform road checks to target drivers under the influence of alcohol and drugs
I guarantee that in a short period of time the level of RTA will decrease and furthermore it will give the revenue some much needed money to help upkeep the roads and make them safer.

Where is the Minister of Cominications in all this?

This all goes back to the old saying about” A country who choose a boy for its leader is doomed.”

My people this all goes down to poor leadership, planning and foresight.
They all in it for the money.

Does the timing of all these accidents concern anyone? DA needs to be careful who we invite to our shores because the Lord sure works in mysterious ways!! That’s all I will say….

    • The Facts
      May 6, 2015

They could bring a bad omen with them. It is like inviting an evil person into your home. We are told do not keep company with such people. They are dangerous. Since they are evil; do not worship our God but his enemies and sing about him, this enemy governs them. Wherever they go he is right there with them and surrounds them. They do leave something of him behind.
We know the reputation of the one who was invited on our shores to perform to our people especially the youths. Godly spiritually-minded people would know that God was not pleased and still is not pleased.
Dominica appears to be failing in Christianity. I am reiterating, those who are responsible will pay for it. Anything bad which befalls D/ca and D/cans, they are answerable to God for this. Stay tuned!

Thank God for the foresight to install the guard rails. Apparently it saved lives. One can only imagine what the result would have been if it wasn’t there…

Why is everyone in a hurry….just leave earlier!

  9. May 4, 2015

And whilst yes…the devil is busy….he’s not GOD… he can’t be everywhere at the same time.
    To blame everything on him…
    Sometimes it’s pure stupidity that’s at play….

    • The Facts
      May 6, 2015

You think he cannot be everywhere at the same time? Have you heard of the legions? There are millions of them, Satan and his corteges – his evil spirits who roam throughout the world seeking the ruin of souls. You must read more and educate yourself about them. Read the correct books.
St. Paul told us about them. There is not one country that is devoid of them. This is why the Catholic Church has the Holy Water which we Catholics bless ourselves with. We are to advise others about it.
I have some friends who are not Catholics and who like to use the Holy Water. Even as non-Catholics they know the power of the Holy Water. I give them some in addition to relevant information.
God is in control but God allows all what is occurring in the world. Why? For one, He is testing us to see how well we persevere in Him and in the faith. He gave us powerful weapons. They are worship and prayers. Those who fail to accept them, woe to them.

Some people are so quick to judge. These incidents all seem strange, happening all of a sudden. Instead of pointing the finger and laying blame, say a prayer. You just never know when it could be you in an accident, as an innocent passer-by or driving on your own merry little way.

  14. May 3, 2015

Following the accident in St Vincent which claimed many lives , I’d like to say the same , drivers need to be more careful whilst transporting persons or even alone on the roads . Accidents don’t just happened we’ve been taught , they’re caused and all it takes is for drivers and riders to be callous . It’s a holiday and as usual people are going to the beach and picnics etc and lots of vehicles will be out . Check your vehicle before you live including the most vital parts ( your brakes and fluid ) . People unless in emergency cases you don’t have to speed , too fast and too furious 7 is a movie . Bikers don’t ride without protective gears and remember you’re you only shield . All I can do is pray for our safety .
My heart goes out to those who’ve lost their loved one this past week , and also those who’ll be without their daily bread due to some inconsiderate drivers .

alcohol seems to be the major cause of this accident,.dominica is becoming a lawless place like haiti and many of those African countries where respect for law enforcement has been abandoned.a high level of ignorance is very prevalent among many of our drivers.law enforcement must play a better role in enforcing the traffic laws of our country.

Drivers take precaution on the road speed is not the answer take your time you will always get to your destination. Take note people’s life is very precious and the life that you save will be you own.

I hope from now on drivers will be doubly careful. God help them.

  19. The Facts
    May 3, 2015

The past week in Dominica to today has been rather unusual. What is happening? So many accidents in one week! I hope this trend will not keep recurring.
Pray also for motorists. They must also pray for themselves and obey road regulations. Do not be in a hurry to arrive at your destination which will cause you to speed. For your safety, your passengers, other drivers and their passengers, please drive cautiously.
Prior to leaving your home or wherever you were, keep your eyes on Our Lord Jesus Christ. Ask him to protect you by keeping you safe while driving (or also walking) on the streets/roads.
If you are a Christian Catholic, bless yourself with Holy Water prior to leaving your home. If there is some within your reach, anyone, whether Catholic or not, could do so. As you bless yourself, say a prayer and make the Sign of the Cross.
This is my godly advice to every Dominican especially those who reside in Dominica. God bless you and protect you.

Nobody can drive properly on this island. Firstly, they need to understand to use their mirrors – all 3 of them – mirror, signal, manoeuvre. Secondly, not to drive right up each other’s backside and thirdly not to overtake on blind bends/corners. Finally, not to invent a third lane for overtaking when there clearly isn’t one and not to use full beam headlights at night. Until the driving instructors can teach this then there is no hope on the roads.

    • Titiwi
      May 3, 2015

Garcon, that is the problem. We have no qualified driving instructors on the island. People are not taught properly or sit an exam. Motorists not being tested for eyesight and real competence. On top of that we import old vehicles that are badly maintained because of the high cost of imports on parts.. A recipe for disaster.

I will have to take this course and return to Dominica.   Or I will pass the word around and encourage some people to do so.
Dominica requires educated and disciplined instructors. It also requires a police force that will take their responsibilities seriously, to serve and protect and to enforce the Dominican Law.
This is one of the changes which are badly needed in Dominica especially after those many accidents. They sadden me.

The reason why those SUV’s turn over. I have heard about them for a while. Quite a few of them have turned over and there were fatalities; not only in D/ca but elsewhere in the world.
Some SUV’s were recently recalled. It is said they have flaws.
Dominicans should listen to and read about world news.

It is dangerous to do those things while driving. These people take their lives and that of others in their hands.
What type of Laws exist in Dominica? It is high time that these are prohibited while driving. Those who do not obey should be fined.

Your first few comments made me laugh. When I saw the last one, I stopped laughing. Why did you not keep it funny?
Does it make you happy to make such statements against the PM? How many times are people as you told the election is over? Leave the PM alone to lead the country and give him time to do so. You stop the pressure and stress. Rome was not built in a day.
Furthermore, you need to acquire patience. One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit to Christians, is Patience which you should possess. It appears you did not get it and/or lost it.
Our Lord Jesus Christ said, “Those who do not make use of their talents, they will be taken away and given to another who use them for to those who have (do) more will be given to them.” The New Testament of the Holy Bible will teach you more.
You are also in dire need of God’s blessing and graces. You probably have not been practicing the faith or as you should. You need to pray with a kind and humble heart.
