you cannot put speed bumps on a high way,the thing they should consider is maybe slow down signs or something, under this cliff is just a coffin yet still ppl still racing under it. HRV is not a vehicle to race,.

@Beauboi…you want to call that a highway? You drive at 60mph from one end to the other in less than 2mins and you call it a highway. The only solution is putting speedbumps since Dominicans don’t like adhering to laws even if they are implemented. They see road and they want to fly

WellI did not see the usual suspects talking about demons lol. Everyday we witness the rushing under the cliff, they drive like lightening they will crash like thunder

  6. January 22, 2018

The installation of speed humps or bumps on that section of road would certainly slow the pace of the speeders and reckless drivers. Our elected officials need to tighten up their game !!!

UHURU Above, Something tells me you aren’t a driver! As Beaubul, above said you don’t put speed bumps on high ways, one should always think of the emergency services getting to places in time to help victims in time of emergency. IN times of writing or talking we people must always think of if and but before writing rubbish on Dno. Please wise up!!!!

There has always been accidents under the canefield cliffs going as far back as the 1960’s that I know of. It is a dangerous area. It was worse when it was just a one lane road in the 1960’s.

Some of the drivers don’t want their time on the road. I was in DA 5 years ago some of the drivers are reckless, showoff and careless drivers. I recalled the passengers were telling the drivers about his speeding.

I hope those involved will be OK. Drivers be more careful on the road too busy don’t make day break faster. Please remember there are other people’s lives involve and the life that you save will be you own.

I can never understand how the arguably best piece of road in the county, can have all that accident. It so nice to cruise down that little stretch barely moving your steering…how all of that does happen there.

It is such a sad situation. Same story all over the world. Rush! Rush! Rush! People, drivers and pedestrians are dying as fruit flies are hit. Many accidents could be avoided. They do not realize slow and steady wins the race. What will it take for them to understand and drive safely for the benefit of their well-being?

Speed bumps? Traffic light? Visible police car with speed monitor. All pretty standard measures to reduce speed in places with frequent speeding accidents. I suppose these “innovations” will come to Dominica in 2045.

I know the traffic department cannot do any more than that , as they claim they are doing their best right now .
Again i have to emphasize that the drivers down there need to know, the specifics of their vehicles , thereby the capability of that vehicle , not all vehicles will obey all commands at all times , e g, the way you handle a vehicle with worn tyres is not the same as threaded tyres.Treat your vehicles with respect, treat the road with respect, the way you drive on dry roads is different to the way one should drive on wet roads ,
Cause of accident is yet unknown , or rather disclosed ,but every good driver will always ask him/herself,was there anything different i could have done to avoid that accident , and if one is genuine they will admit yes, there was ,even if another is entirely at fault.
Something many Dominican drivers do not do, is think for the other road users ,you have to sometimes anticipate and judge, for others, and often times react to avoid accidents .

It should always be emphasized to Drivers just passing their driving tests, that they are really now learning to drive , as that’s when they may be alone and in control of the vehicle, they will experience things they never did before , and would need to take instant decisions , make judgements , and react accordingly without the advice and instructions from someone else .
Da drivers , respect the road for god sake nah .
I remember when it was written on that stone in Gemmit ”COME TO ME ” and the first time i drove with my dad in his car when we saw it , he said to me, that stone dont move its the car which hits it , i had never seen it that way before though i was driving past it all the time . The road will always be there drivers
take your time , you are the one who can feel , not the road man.

There are cemeteries full of people like that.

  17. January 20, 2018

Everybody is busy now, nobody wants to wait. This piece of road is a flat road, with only one slight curb which is missing a little visibily. No huge turning and luckily no very deep precipice. keep to your sides, lower the speed. The heavier a vehicle weighs the harder it will be to break.Respect the distance of security. Too many senseless accidents; while so many vehicles have no treads on the Tyres. Value human lives, respect the driving code like you respected it during your driving test and after.

I doh calling no body name eh; but  the only reason why you got those eleven thumbs up is because you are honest by saying you could not have said it better!

It is not because they love you eh!

Seriously, I am laughing so hard I forgot what  I was about to say. There is metaphor which states, he who can’t here will feel! As many accidents taking pace place in that particular area, one would have thought Dominicans would have learn by now.

Speeding, and inebriation; driving while inebriated  is the main contributing factor to all of the accidents in our country. Years ago all of the Motor vehicles we had in the country were imported from England, and they all had a top speed of not exceeding sixty miles, per hour:  the Speed limit was 25 miles per in the country.

Today almost everything driven in the country goes over a hundred miles per hour, only a fool would contemplate driving over sixty any place in Dominica, there are no roads to accommodate such speed.

I own sports cars  maximum speed is 225 miles per hour, I go from 0-100 in less than five seconds; the fastest I ever go is 130 miles per hour, on a freeway; if I get hit at anything over 80 am dead!

You would be surprised on the number of people driving with no licenses in DA. They just jump in a vehicle and go. Who is to stop them?……….The police???

        January 22, 2018

Worse still, driving wihout insurance or valid road tax. I honestly don’t know what ourpolice are doing about that.
It is easy enough to check by computer against any license plate and for the authorities to remove vehicles from the road if the owner does not show to have insurance or has not paid his road tax. Dominica is not a big country and this should be simple. what can be the problem?

It just a matter on taking ur time on the road and not get your vehicle out of control by trying to race on the road….Hope that all is ok and not any fatalities.
