The small West Coast village of Salisbury has recorded its second tragic death in less than two weeks.
On Saturday evening, a young man died in a motorcycle accident in the village. Reports are that the motorcycle hit a building near the road.
The accident occurred at about 8 pm and the motorcyclist’s body had been lying motionless for more than an hour before it was removed.
We are following the story and will bring updates as they become available.
Saturday’s death comes over a week after Amassa Bachelor died while diving into the sea from a cliff with friends at a popular spot for young boys in Salisbury.
Villagers speculate that Amassa may have broken his neck and/or drowned while diving. His body was pulled ashore by other persons in the area.
My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his family and also his friends. May God sustain you at this time.
May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

MET VEYE your point was well taken ,but the message was coveyed, at the end of the we need to educate the youth, promote safety, and hope we can save some lifes so if my key was stuck you still got the message i hope , i am open to constructive criticisim have a nice day
My codolences to the family, and if a lesson to be learn wear a helmet dont drink and drive wear protective gears , and look out for the other driver.
I wish to sypathise with the family. But i must say that there’s alot of vagabonds on the road riding aimlessly with no respect for law and oher and the public’s safety.Based on the photos i saw,the man did not even had shirt on his back, far more protective gears.Sad to say some of these riders get what they look for.
it is very sad news for the family and friends of mr andrew even dominica on a whole am extending my deepest condolences to the family but yet still, some of us dominicans should not make those types of embarassing comments cause they to have love ones ,this could happen to also.rest in peace mr andrew.
still in shock this gale marley andrew hook on my necklace this very morning going to town and i ask him what should i tell his dad on my way back to antigua rest in peace my little one.to the andrew and st luce be strong god will take care of you all.
THANKS FATTY BOY
THANK YOU AND GOD BLEESS YOU.
Poor soul, may he RIP. I feel bad for him with all those people gawking when he should have some respect as he is dying.
All the people running their mouths about speeding, where you there? The young man died close to his home which he was heading to, most likely his brakes were not working. And the big A** who called him a donkey, when your time comes, hope you will not go like the big Jack A** you are…think before running your mouth like a river.
ON BEHALF OF OUR FAMILY,DANIEL BAZIL,ANDREW,PAUL IN ST.CROIX ,ST.THOMAS,ANTIGUA ,ST.MARTIN AND ABROAD OUR CONDOLENCES GOES OUT TO YOUR MOM AND OTHER SIBLINGS AT THE TIME WHEN WE ALL A GRIEVING YOUR LOST. MAY YOUR SOUL REST IN PEACE.
My deepest sympathy goes out to this young man family along with his father’s side including ME to find comfort in god right about this time,REST IN PEACE COUSIN U ARE IN A BETTER PLACE,YOUR FAMILY IN THE UNITED STATES AND VIRGIN ISLANDS..BAZIL & ANDREW FAMILY.
That bike business in Dca needs to either be curbed or properly legislated. Too many unlicensed bikes, no helmets, no proper bike riding training, many many many uninsured bikes and riders. This is ridiculous. The entire system is failing on this bike drama. Sorry to hear yet another loss of life on a bike in Dca.
You’re obviously biased. There are many more issues surrounding bikers and biking in Dominica than more stringent legislature. The attitude of dumbnica’s citizens towards bikers is a good place to start.
Dumbnicans hate bikes because black men ride them, but they don’t hate the people who make the bikes, the same thing can be said about guns.
Once a black person uses something, it’s automatically bad.
Anonymous are you just an A** Hole who can’t spell…or an A** Hole who can’t spell and trying to be be rude.
Your point makes no sense and just make you appear to be a total IDIOT…So just shut the hell up…now who’s DUMB!
So u using a racial line against your own race? Do you know the race of those who made the particular bike? I usually slow down to allow a 50cc to overtake me because he cannot go faster than my car…yet he thinks just because he has a bike he should get free right of way to pass me…U have any idea de number or near misses i see on a regular day? every two wheeler bike wants to overtake on the Goodwil road highway…….why? a scooter want to overtake a bus…….why?????
Our young heads to to think responsibly. Drive safely. Wear protective gear. Stop riding with no license, You dont have to overtake EVERY VEHICLE infront u.PARENTS SHOULD GET INVOLVED!!!! IF YOU HAVE A YOUNG SON GET INTERESTED IN HIS DRIVING HABITS AND SAFETY!!!!!
I love bikes… I ride (haven’t ridden in dominica). I completely disagree with you. You sound like a rider that is trying to prove a non existent point. Its true there needs to be more training and more strict laws. Helmets should be mandatory at all times for instance. When we are young we think we are indestructible. That’s why rules need to be put in place to protect our youth. Educate them on how to ride properly and safely, and on how to inspect and check their bikes before getting on. Whatever it takes to decrease the amt of incidents. To the family of the deceased…I pray that you all find comfort in the Lord. My deepest sympathies go out to you all.
HEARTFELT SYMPATHY TO THE MOTHER AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS OF A NEPHEW I NEVER MET AND NEVER KNOWN ABOUT UNTILL HIS UNTIMELY DEATH.MAY THE GOD OF HEAVEN GIVE YOU ALL THE STRENGTH AND COURAGE TO DEAL WITH HIS PASSING..I AM VERY MUCH SADDEN TO GET THE NEWS FROM MY SISTER IN ST.CROIX. RIP MY NEPHEW.THIS WORLD IS NOT OUR OWN,WE ARE JUST LIKE PASSING THROUGH.
VERY TOUCHING WORDS UNCLE CHARLO.YOUR NEICE IN STX “MIN” TEARS
The law enforcer needs to make helmets mandatory. The riders might not like it at first but its for their safety. 85% of the persons in motorcycle fatalities were without helmets just enforce the laws and lives will be saved.
Now that we all have extended our sympathies, let us reach out to the other young men who drive on the streets as if they do not care about other people’s lives. I hope that this serves as a wake up call to all the bikers and race car drivers on the road. The canefield stretch was opened on Friday night and already I have seen bikers racing on it. Pray for those too.
My condolences to the family of the young man.
I am sure that when he climbed on his bike he did not foresee his demise. When you’re young you take unneccessary risks thinking that you are invincible.
Cycle riders, please wear a helmet, car drivers/passengers please buckle up your seat belt.
o god i see me fast friend devon larocque he was even there before dno, anywere news b u there bigup
A few years ago i was on vacation back home and i saw this young domincan ridding thos motor cycle very very fast in and out of traffic i call them dear divils with a death wish, it is really scary seeing my young brothers takeing such risk with thiere life. the widen the road to pte mitche from lubier to la point and they had to put speed bumps to slow thos young kids down, also between saufriere nad scot”s head the same thing and yet they still crash with serius injury , the combination of drugs and alchohol, youth speed will contineu to claim our son”s and daugthers lifes, we need to educate the youth and pass the helmet blaw in other to save the children peace nad my condolences to the family , hope there wont be no more of this . PEACE
sorry I had to throw that in there…your keys were sticking man
YOUR KEY BOARD REALLY STICK YOUR OWN COUNTRY AND U CAN’T EVEN SPELL,NEXT TIME DO A SPELL CHECK IT HELPS
Dare devils – daring devils that take their lives into their hands and do not care if others get injured or killed in the interim. This is called reckless driving and disobeying the Law and the rules of the road. One way or the other, sooner or later, people pay for their actions.
sorry to hear that ,i hope all his family will be good, next time when people driving ,please drive slowly
dats not the point, the young boy was on the motocycle goin down the hill mabe he was goin 2 fast and it did not have breakes so he crashed so dont try 2 say next time drive slow cuz when you on a hill you can not drive slow
So tragic. Should be illegal to not wear a helmet. This could have been prevented. Oh by the way DNO did we give you permission to use that photo of my mum’s house; And all the people lined up on the porch; is is your house to enter without permission. Well out of order.
lady shut to hell up as if who was there didn’t had phone camara
levi please! the house is needs company…oh i forgot it was empty while some of her children were here for reunion
so not necessary..
at l get a life
Your mom’s house is located in the middle of the road, no?
Picky, picky, picky! Give DNO a break. There is no need for such an admonishment which is why you got so many thumbs down. You have displeased a lot of people with such a comment.
An accident occurred and pictures were taken, similar to anywhere in Dominica.
DNO is the Media. DNO does not need permission to take the pictures and post them. Your mother’s house just happened to be near the scene of the accident. Note the number of people who are near the house.
Use your discretion, if you have any. DNO did not just opt out and take the picture for no reason. I do think your mother’s house was in the way. You should be happy and proud that it is a nice house and in the picture. Why not keep a picture of it?
Stupes! NOnsense
JACKASS IN THE TIME OF DEATH THIS IS WHAT YOU HAVE TO TALK ABOUT AH DAM HOUSE,CHUPPS MAN
Totally agree!!! Let’s not lose focus here…..a young soul has been lost and that’s just a reminder how one’s life can be cut short in a twinkle of an eye.
yeah how petty!
Let’s not lose focus here! The fact is a young soul has been lost and this just shows how your life can be cut short in a twinkle of an eye. It’s human nature, people are curious and wanted to catch a piece of the action. If it was someone else’s house I’d probably be up there looking to…
…. FURTHER MORE I BELIEVE THE PICS ARE FROM “BAWILINK UP” CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG?! ON THE OTHER HAND I BELIEVE THAT SUCH COMMENTS SHOULD NOT BE POSTED – ADMIN WHY POST SUCH THOUGH???
Someone is dead and woman you thinking of a house…stupes…heartless!! Give thanks to DNO for keeping you up-to-date with what that has been going on in your home country!!
sad day for the village of Salisbury…. KEEP IN MIND OUR GOD IS IN CONTROL!
wow…just realized exactly which area this is…this is going down morne doxya, right after ma clem and madonna house. The poor kid didn’t stand a chance with no brakes on this thing. My heart goes out to his family
bikes are for foolishb people who want to die…
scooters too…
so all of dem askin for da…
don;’t ride them. plz if you wat to live longer.
accept my sympathy.
people who at least wear hemets while riding bikes/scooters are not foolish, no those who goes in the speed limits…
to say the truth, i knew him, lots of my family still drove bikes…
P.S. tumbs up to Homeboy
P.S.S. I was sleepy when i posted my first message
may God be with you all as you Rest.In.Peace!
Well this is sad, firstly, to see a human being exposed like an animal and people taking pictures and watching. Secondly, even if the first responders took an hour there had to have been nurses/ doctors in the village who COULD HAVE ATTEMPTED TO STABILIZE THIS INDIVIDUAL UNTIL HELP ARRIVED! This person is still resting face down maybe drowning in their own blood..
And finally, there are reasons why certain safety equipment are necessary for certain modes of trsnsportations! Seatbelt for cars and buses, helmets, boots and light jackets with Kevlar- like paddings in the back, for motor cycles. They save lived.. RIP
Were you there? I thought so. I would like to see you try to stablise a dead individual. Yes true, help could have arrived earlier but these officials act according to protocol.
While some of us make stupid comments we fail to see the big picture. This just exposes the flaws in our health care emergency response system. This is Salisbury; if we need an ambulance where does it come from? We have been told by the police do not touch a victim because we are not trained hence the reason he laid there for over an hour. Who is trained on the ambulance? I have withnessed this on several occasions. The ambulance is just a pick up truck. They do not administer any first aid! There is no neck brace, no IV, no bandages! They just arrive with a stretcher and gloves on their hands! I remember clearly when the two brothers died in the accident at public works, the ambulance personnel did not even have a pair of scissors or knife to cut the seat belt!! You are responding to the scene of a vehicluar accident, what did you expect?
Apart from reiterating safety to teenagers and young people, we need to do our share. Young people are fearless and feel invincible. This is life. You can preach helmet from now till Jesus comes, there will always be those who do not obey. What we need is proper emergency plans. We need quicker emergency response times and we need a proper emergency team to man the ambulance.
With this said, I would like to extend my condolonces to the St. Luce family. I know some of them were here for the reunion. God can help you carry any burden. Pray without ceasing.
Sometimes in accidents it is better to leave the body untouched before a professional gets there with the right equipments because the person might have suffered from a spinal injury or have broken their pelvis and moving them would only cause more complications. my sympathy goes out to his family …i hope this man was saved
that is a scooter am a rider to and things them young men in dominica want to do with scooters they think is motorcycle they have am very sorry for the lost of the family may god carry them thur but lets face it why a there helmets and y are you riding with out shirt on come on and a scooter is not design to do them stons they want to pull with them that thing gears down when it want and you cannot control your own gears sorry one had to die like that but i hope others learn that they a riding scooters and not 1100
doh mean to sound disrespectfull but one less (donkey )on the rad to endanger prople who drive by the law where he goign without helmet or even a shirt and shoe on a scooter at speed like that to end up crashing into a building young people now adays need to learn some common sense and stop acting a fool that there is stupidity at the highest sense of the world
AND MY CONDELENSES TO THE FAMILLY OF THE DESEASED
One donkey dead but one jackass remains!!!
u next donkek
What is wrong with you?? This is a time for us to extend words of comfort to the poor boys’ family. You really sound sick and heartless- just imagine that it was your family, friend or neighbor. There is a time for everyone to go and when your time comes…would you like someone to be so negative???
why are some people so stupid and have no compassion this is not the time for that.this young boy was not a trouble maker he was a nice young man so keep your comment to yourself
lol you doe easy
YOU DAM DISRESPECTFUL PEACE OF SHIT,IF YOU AINT GOT NOTHING GOOD TO SAY KEEP YOUR THOUGHTS TO YOURSELF
well whoever u are calling urself “me” is the donkey…u don’t have to say that you are sorry when u are already disrespectfull… It could happen to anyone of ur family so search yourself and ur heart and clean ur backyard before u say things like that we don’t need ur condolence we doing just fine without ur concern…my brother was a very good person…
your brother still go and stupidly kill him self so i should have used the word a** instead of donkey
me” why don’t you go hang your useless self somewhere so you could spear us reading the crap that goes through your mind.your surely doing a great job as makim urself look like the biggest ass alive.
ADMIN seriously?!!??! why have those comments go on the site???
Your time will and must come ( my words are strong ) REMEMBER THAT.
Don’t know why ppl like speeding so boy. My condolences to his family and friends. This is a horid way to go. I’m sure a helmet would have saved a life here.. We need to enforce the helmet laws more. Start giving out tickets and court fines and orders to ppl who chose to ride with no helmets. Maybe we can slow down these pointless deaths.
THEY SHOULD BE MORE CAREFUL ON THESE MOTOR-
CYCLE TO MANY YOUNG GUYS LIFE A BEING CUT
SHORT BECAUSE OF SPEEDING. SAD TO SEE GONE
SO SOON. MAY GOD STRENGTHEN THE FAMILY AT
THIS MOMENT OF GRIEF
but i doh understand jean bawi, allu of them pull up watching like is some spectacular show while the boy laying motionless on the ground. this is fu@#****
what u want them to do ly motionless too? if no one was around you wouldve said somthing else kmt..
So jean roseau and jean lapwent and jean gwantanse doesn’t watch dead people too? It is universal you idiot!! People will always look! The problem is we are helpless. We are not qualified to administer help in emergency situations!!
What the hell you expect us to do? Uh? Go and pick up the body? The persons to do that job were not very effective. As for us…yes we were there, quite shock and supporting the family. Is not no ro-row that we gather for…we were just reuniting and giving support to those who were close to him…so HUSH YOUR MOUTH!!!
so u want them to go and revive the body dummy? what else can they do? stupes..
darling this is a community where everyone knows each other,it’s a logical reaction, people would be curious to know what happen and to see for themselves, and for the people who knew him as their friends, family etc it came as a shocking moment of disbelief.so as a said just a LOGICAL REACTION
but i doh understand you. what you want them to do? carry his body? dont you know that you cant touch a dead body until pronounced dead by a doctor. FIND YOUR INFORMATION BEFORE YOU RUN YOUR MOUTH LIKE LAYOU RIVER
Are you surprised? This occurs in every part of the world.
Let me further inform you. When I was a child and we heard there was a fire in town, be it in the middle of the night, some people would get dressed and go to the scene. This is a normal reaction is human nature.
On one occasion I was still in high school. On the way to school and after school we passed near the burnt house, especially if some people died in the fire.
So what do you know?
The time taken by the emergengy to examine the body – one hour. That’s unacceptable – there should be a response time for the emergency sevices like where I presently reside. There should be more ambulance and fire substations in Dominica. A Presidential Palace will not answer the needs of the people – spend money wisely on projects which will benefit the populace.
every f$*@ing thing for some of you all is politics shait man
wise words. half of the palace money could build a very good building for presidents and the other half to improve the pmh and the stata prison.
i can not belive that this poor man was left uncovered on the side of the road for all to see, did no decent person think to give the poor man some dignity and go get a sheet and cover him up,,,,,i am disgusted
My heart goes out to the family. RIP young man. My only problem with this story is the PICTURE of the body laying there.. no one knows when they going to die, but i just don’t want to die in public and end up on a website like this.. just my two cents.
THATS WHAT WE’RE SAYING DOWN IN SALISBURY,THAT JUST PLAIN OUT DISRESPECTFUL
I can’t stand when ppl put this “OMG what is the world coming to” bullshit on DNO. like wear a damn helmet, dont spead, doh try to overtake at breakneck spead. and maybe one can live to see another day. Is not the ‘world’ k… stop blaming d world.
Condolences to the St. Luce family. Let us all pray for our community in Jesus name.
That’s real sad eh.. Pray for the family
I’m sooooooooo sorry 2 hear dat…..yall remain in ma prays
RIP Gael..may your famil find comfort in the Lord during this terrible ordeal..
wow lord ave motocracyle
What is the world coming too? People these things have been happening everyday in this world.
inspected by a nurse sad news for the family of who ever it is, my heart goes out to them but labour rites we voted and still have nothing where is the doctor to determine the status of the rider, why is he still laying there after an hour are you serious, SKERRITT HOW YOU FIXING DOMINICA
In everything, someone has to find a way to put politics in it? you all are doing more damage to the country than anyone of the political leaders.
Why politic in this debate? we have to, because the money spend on the palace should be spend on having emergency personnel/ fire and ambulance/ parametric in every village/ what about a helicopter to transport people to hospital instead of the long drive, so yes politic have to be included in this
Imagine someone lying on the road for over an hour before medics arrive, you call this development, i say no way no way
My condolences to the family
WHY POLITICS HAS TO DO WITH A MOTORCYCLE
ACCIDENT? AN HOUR TO RELEASE A BODY YOU
ALL ARE COMPLAINING. I LEAVE IN NY TWO
MONTHS AGO A BODY WAS ON THE SIDE WALK FORM

EVERY THING THAT HAPPENS IN DA IS POLITICS.
WHY BLAME PM FOR THIS ACCIDENT. THIS IS A
SAD MOMENT. YOU ALL SHOULD NOT BE POINTING
FINGERS ON ANY BODY
Do you people really sit and wait for things like these to happen to come on here and show how ignorant you really are? Its an accident for crying out loud what does the prime minister have to do with anything is there always a doctor at the scene of every accident the nurse was she did what she was supposed to do chances are he was already dead she is a nurse she cannot pronounce someone dead and in any event it is known that accident victims should not be moved until medics come to the scene so please stop acting like people with no sense its sad when these things happen but we as young people take silly risks with our lives and we have no one to blame bout ourselves.I am sure this young man was not wearing a helmet which could have made all the difference in the world!
i half way like your comment.first half but not the second
Why dont u shut your stinking ass and just leave politics out of this one? FOR ONCE LEAVE POLITICS OUT PLEASE!
The nurse can check for vital signs; se if the pupils are dilated and from there make a determination, acting on the advice of a medical doctor.
And where does Skerrit come in here. I do not understand. Please explain to us Elton.
I am Sure that he will be taken directly to the hospital where he will be officially pronounced dead.
every dam thing is politics one day you all will stop
IDIOT!!!!!! YOUR LEVEL OF IGNORANCE IS APPALLING!!!!

my brother don’t need to for him to be supported by ur stupid and ignorance talk so stop putting ur politics there keep it at ur home and for ur family
That’s terrible. Though I wonder how long the body was lying there before the nurse came to inspect it. If it was several minutes after police arrived, that could have made all the difference in saving their life!
I hope the family is okay.
SO HOW LONG AGAIN B4 THEY MOVE THE BODY. PPL WILL DEAD B4 THEY GET HELP IN THAT COUNTRY. MY PRAYS ARE WITH THE FAMILY AND THE VILLAGER.
is it only in this country??? or all over the world
Lord have mercy….. Salisbury just having deaths now
@ good thinker
I do realize that Salisbury being a small village those accidents are shocking since they are also unexpected. They are sad to hear of. These accidents could have happened in any Dominican village or town.
Accidents occur in big towns and cities and many of them in a matter of days, weeks or minutes including many times a day. This is life although accidents in general could be prevented.
It is imperative that we at least try to be cautious and always with the help of God, asking Him for His Divine protection wherever we plan to go, wherever we may be, whatever we plan to do and are doing.
There is nothing that pleases God most when His beloved children call on Him with a humble and contrite heart and ask Him for His blessing, graces and protection. We show Him that we are mere weak mortals and are in dire need of His help in many respects. This, too, is placing Him first in our lives.
Our Dear Blessed Lord is always there for us, He who said: “I will never forsake you my people…” and is ever ready to protect us if we also recognize Him in our lives and worship Him.
I hope that God had mercy on his soul.
God’s blessing, peace and protection.
Motorcycles are unfinished vehicles, the more reason why riders MUST be more careful. My prays goes out to the bereaved.
Motorcyles as bicycles are unprotected, vulnerable vehicles which are prone to accidents be it through other vehicles. I view them as unsafe. This is another reason why those motorcyle drivers of all should not take chances on the road and speed. They should always drive cautiously. Their lives are in their hands.
surry 2 hear that. my prays r with the family
OMG! what is this world coming to.?~Sigh~
wow……….lord ave mercy on the village of salisbury
well you must be an alien. cause you sure sound like someone who is not living on this earth! SMH!!
till we meet again go easy and watch over me
@ OMG
Your comment made me laugh and wonder what it is all about. It does not make any sense.
What world? It appears that as long as there are human beings accidents will occur. What we should do is to try to avoid them by also being careful not to cause accidents. It is as simply as that.
