what does politics have anything to do with the Police force?
The police are there to serve justice… come on a man went missing and nothing was done for that?
Not even a crew dispatched to look for the man? if so, they didn’t make any effort! because his body was found in the same area he went missing! Why didn’t the police step up and went looking for the man! with their 24 hours crap!
we need to recruit new police men just like we need to recruit new nurses to save the life of our people!

The police must upgrade their system for missing people. From the moment people are reported missing, an alert should immediately go out and groups should be out in the outlying area searching for them.
There are times we say, people should not die in that manner. So sorry that this man died in a manner which we are also not yet sure about. We have reason to be suspicious because too many disappear without a trace. It is a disturbing trend.
To his family, God be with you as you mourn his passing. My sincere sympathy to you.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

everyone is blaming the police but what about the families. did anyone take the time out to conduct searches of the area themselves? cause i know if my relative is missing am not gonna leave it all up to the police and just sit back. we all have a responsibility. so stop playing the d**n blame game

You just want to talk ,do I know everyday we went out searching by ourselves, so make sure you know what you talking about before you comment.

      November 7, 2016

*Do YOU know that the family went searching everyday???? With no help because it was not 24 hours and even after the 24 hours because it was not a priority??? The family was searching by themselves at all hours of the day, 8am, 5am, 11pm, in rain and Sun. So before you talk about things you know nothing about, and instead of making comments that are not at all factual, maybe you should instead send condolences to the family as this is a very difficult time for them!!!! SHAME! SHAME! SHAME!. What is anyone doing to the CRIMINALS-AT-LARGE? Don’t anyone know the DIFFERENCE? Sometimes people are DISORIENTED and are UNAWARE of their WHEREABOUTS; AGE doesn’t matter, HELP instead of HURT. LAWRENCE (JOKO) JOSEPH was NOT a danger to anyone. JOKO was one of the MOST LOVING person that we knew. God be with all.

I hope the other MISSING PEOPLE are FOUND. GO SEARCH!

Old people get confused hence the fact that they get disorientated, it is called dimentia that man lost his way poor thing. Families need to keep closer ties.

The man could have gone to the river go take a river bath and may have gotten a stroke of maybe gone there to relive himself.
Only an Autopsy will provide the cause of death.

  11. Tell the Truth
    November 5, 2016

Strange that his body was found in that area. I wonder how long it was there or was it washed down.
The autopsy and police investigation should reveal what really happened to him, if it was through natural drowning or not.
It has not been revealed if the body of the man (from Wesley :?: ) who was found floating in the Mahaut river drowned naturally or not.
Too many people are disappearing in Dominica.
Nationals want to know how he happened to drown, if naturally or not including the 79 year-old man.
Police, when you complete your investigations and reports especially in cases as these, you must inform nationals about the cause of death.

    • rowrowbaby
      November 6, 2016

Use your common sense, there is a pair of sneakers sitting neatly across from the body. how the hell it gonna wash up and the shoe sitting neatly across from the body.

      • November 6, 2016

I don’t think the sneakers belong to him because it was reported that he was wearing a pair of pink slippers. Unless they didn’t know exactly what he was wearing. I had that same thought. All-in-all he’s dead; he shouldn’t be dead. I also don’t believe he went for a swim and missed his footing.

      • Tell the Truth
        November 6, 2016

You use your common sense. It appears you have none. “Be sure brain is engaged before putting mouth in gear.” In this case your fingers to the keyboard and before sending your comment. twisted:
How old are you? Common sense should dictate to you that anyone who commits a crime “could place” the shoe neatly across the body and make it appear as a normal death/drowning. The man’s body could have been brought there. He was in Bath Estate and was found in that area.
You are really living behind time; not in the twenty-first century and in the year 2016. What have you heard and read about crimes?
This is why when the autopsy is complete, the police authorities should inform nationals of the cause of death. Surely you should know that; even think of it.
Nationals will be satisfied to know what caused his death. They are entitled to it. The police should not withhold this information from them.

      • Thinking
        November 7, 2016

Or the pair of sneakers could belong to the person who fished him out of the water…

    • Wesley
      November 6, 2016

Not from Wesley, he was from Marigot. Thank you.

      • Tell the Truth
        November 6, 2016

Thank you! You deserve appreciation as a compliment for your gracious response. :)
As time passes, there are times we tend to forget. However I remember what I read on DNO. As I previously stated, we have yet to hear how he drowned.
It is frustrating that the investigating unit, the police authorities do not inform nationals of the cause of death. It could be very helpful to them, youths and adults that they will take precaution in whatever manner.
        God bless!

I have to wonder if the police or whose in charge actually looking for the missing people. Joecho was right there in their face, if drastic steps was taken, he might have been alive today. Alas…. Julie and family, may god bless and give you courage. RIP Joecho.

    • November 6, 2016

I think that they’re looking, but NOT SEARCHING. You’re right, if they had any INTEREST in MISSING PERSONS, Joko would be found sooner, and probably ALIVE. Dominica is TOO SMALL, though wooded, to NOT find a MISSING PERSON or MISSING PEOPLE.

What a different outcome it could have been if only a search was launched when the family reported him as missing on the Saturday. There are too many elderly and non elderly missing without a trace. It would be useful if a database of missing persons was made. Could readers write in your memory of those missing and not found. Also the organization for elderly persons could consider having an amber alert put out in such cases.Serious searching started only late Monday too long a gap between reporting and searching. Time for us to learn lessons and fix things. Same mistakes are made over and over and over. We can do better than that especially when a life is at stake.

    • Visceraangel
      November 5, 2016

It’s called a silver alert.. Amber alerts are for children, but if no one can take a basic 911 call do you seriously think they are capable of an alert? In the United States MY phone would send a message that a child was missing/ in danger in MY state basically asking everyone to pay attention…Dominica is 100 miles off of achieving this sort of goal.

    • rowrowbaby
      November 6, 2016

I agree with you, guess family members are going to learn, your family goes missing do not leave it to the police, because absolutely nothing was done. what a shame.

    • rowrowbaby
      November 6, 2016

Amber alert is for kids but you are right. Lime and digicel should send out a pic and description of the person on all cell phone and cable television also the radio that if anyone would come across that person they would either call the family member or the police. That’s too close for comfort. SAD

      • November 6, 2016

Agreed. The POLICE FORCE SHOULD have done MUCH MORE, ESPECIALLY having a STEPSON and GRANDSON on the FORCE. ALSO the PRIME MINISTER, HIMSELF, as the REPRESENTATIVE for Vieille Case should have INSISTED on a wider search. The results may or may not have been the same.

      November 6, 2016

I agree with Deborah Fortune.. There is too much lackadaisical attitude and incompetence in our institutions and organisations…the police, etc .and then when you throw in the sewo and bon temps ..that’s it

Everybody blaming the police and organizations but seem to forget that the family have a responsibility as well. Did they conduct any searches of the area themselves or did they just leave it all to the police. Smdh. Always with the blame game

    • November 6, 2016

They DON’T CARE. It’s as simple as that.

  14. November 5, 2016

Sympathy go out to his family and friends. This has been a couple of weeks of unknown may he rest peacefully. Take comfort in the lord. I hope is not foul play. People might never know what really happen Dominica don’t have csi
