Christmas Day has not turned out to be a very joyous occasion for family and friends of Dennis Frederick of the Carib Territory, who was found dead in his bed this morning.
There’s shock and disbelief at the suddenness of the death of the St. Cyr resident.
Frederick’s wife, Janet, told Dominica News Online that her husband started vomiting yesterday, some of which contained blood. She said this had never happened before.
According to her, he went to bed last night. However, she slept in a separate room and woke up sometime between three and four this morning to check on him. She told DNO that Frederick’s body was cold and unresponsive to her touch and she realized then that he was dead.
She said both the police and the ambulance service responded to calls made to them about the incident. The ambulance arrived at about 8.00 o’clock this morning and the body was transported to Princess Margaret Hospital.
It is unclear at this point as to what exactly is responsible for Frederick’s death but it is expected that an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
DNO will continue to seek more information, including an official police report on the matter.
my condolences to the frederick family
k
my condolences to the family , im sorry i had to come on the internet to read about his death. sorry about ur loss aunty janet, im bridgett’s oldest daughter.
I did not see it mentioned here that he was roaring drunk on the night prior to his death or that he was partaking of a rum drinking competition. so sad what a way to go. may your soul rest in peace Bonabar.
if your husband is vomiting blood
1. you seek medical attention
2. you do not leave in a the room and sleep in another.
3. as your husband, you dont fall asleep, you stay up to make sure he is ok.
4. or maybe he was stubborn and did not want help, who knows?
If he vomitted blood, why wasn’t he brought to the hospital. This man had a problem that required immediate medical attention. May his soul rest in peace.
cONDOLENCES TO THE fREDERICK fAMILY…
R.I.P
So did it really take 4-5 hours for the ambulance and police to arrive responding to a call for some one who is suspected to be dead???? This is crazy!!! Did his wife call right away? This is Weird Really messed up. Wife was in no the one to pronounce the Husband dead. And people have to realize anything to do with blood coming from anyone’s body that it is serious. Even women pleading to heavily can be serious problems. The man was vomiting Blood and everyone went to sleep? RIP Mr Fredrick!! RIP
It is sad news for the family especially at Christmastime. He had an internal bleeding which should have been cause for alarm that something was medically wrong with him. He could have had a stomach ulcer.
It is too bad that they did not give it a thought to call the ambulance. I wonder what he drank that day or the previous day, etc., which could have caused his problem. Did he ever visit a doctor or how long ago he visited a doctor?
My sympathy to his family. May his soul rest in peace. Amen!
oh how sad at christmas time this is no nice gift eh may his soul RIP but wait the ambulance come 8 when she woke up between 3 to 4….this is a sad event
My condolences to the family.
On no condition the ambulance and the police are margically opperated, they can only opperate when the are given information.
I think that the family accessed the situation too lighly, they should have consulted the authorities earlier when they noticed that he was vomitting insted they allowed him to retire to bed
We must be more vigilant about our health in this country. As someone mentioned above, he should be taken to the hospital when he started vomiting blood. That should not have been taken so lightly.
That’s a sad moment. To the families and friends may you find strength in this hour of grief.
Peace !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She checked on him @ 3 or 4 am, realized something wasn’t right but the ambulance got there @ 8 am? Only in Dominica.
Vomiting blood = emergency.
May God comfort the grieving family.

This is so very sad. My heart goes out to his wife and their family on such a terrible loss.
RIP BRO..
Assertive, NOT Agressive!
if mr. Frederick was vomiting blood, why was he not taken to the health centre or hospital for further examination?
My deepest sympathy to the wife and family of the deceased but nowadays we dont have to take any health problem lightly. PEOPLE, when you are not feeling well, seek medical advice.
R.I.P dear uncle!!! We miss you already!!
CONDOLENCES TO THE FAMILY!!
Joyous time to lose a family memeber. May the celbration of the birth of jesus comfort you in your sorrow
Joyous time to lose a family member???? What kind of sickness is that?? Since when any time is joyous for a loved one to die… thats just wrong!!!
She checked on him at 4 the ambulance got there at 8 ????
she checked on him at 4, she did not say she called the ambulance at 4
really sad to hear that, all my wishes with the mans family, it sounds like he had some of bleed, if any one reading this ever vomits up any sort of blood, or a substance that resembles coffee grounds, call the medics straight away or get some one to take you to the emergency room.
I love Dominica and i visit often but i am concerned over the last few months i have seen where people have needed medical attention and it seems the Island it lacking emergency rapid response service, i am right in this??????
His wife who witnessed the vomiting of the blood didn’t take him to the hospital or call for help she went to sleep in a seperate room, he himself probably brushed it off as nothing, so how can you now come yapping about Dominica lacking emergency rapid response? What could any rapid response team do for a dead corpse with rigormortis already setting in?
You better believe it.
How could he get that assistance if no one was called and he was not taken to the ER?
What are you really suggesting? Had the man been taken in to a medical facility after vomiting blood, he might have been saved. So stop crying down our “emergency rapid response service” as you put it. It’s not like he was taken in and did not get the attention that he deserved.
As a nurse you will know that if a person has any form of heamatemesis, treatment with fluids and prehaps a full set of bloods can work out if the cause of the bleed can be stopped, and in many cases of RAPID Treatment, many people who have any form of hematemsis will and can survive, but as i said as a nurse you would know that. and on another note does not every human being deserve medical assistants, or do you as a nurse decide whom you are going to treat by your judgement of whom is deserving or not
It seems as though his cold and unresponsive body could have been saved by a rapid emergency responsive service!Stupessss….Stupid!
i do not understand why this has been disliked?
So sad especially on this day, to his family hold strong and trust in the lord. Korak accept my sympathy..May his soul rest in peace.
My condolences to the family and friends as i sympathise with them. But it’s rather unfortunate that he started vomiting blood yesterday and the family failed to seek medical assistance, but rather allowed him to stay at home. The authorities needs to take this thing seriously,do some strict investigation and interrogation of those close to him!
Ignorance could have been the cause of that. They thought that it was not serious but merely a bleeding which would pass.
Sad news for anyone, especially Christmas day. Our hearts, condolences & prayers go out to the family. May he RIP.
Sorry ,please accept my sympathy.
