Christmas without Jacob – Morne Rachette family still searching for missing man

Jacob Benjamin has been missing since September

The Benjamin family of Morne Rachette will be one member short this Christmas season, as they celebrate the holiday for the first time without 22-year-old Jacob Benjamin.

Benjamin went missing in September and despite a massive search by the police and community, his whereabouts are still unknown. However, his family is holding out hope that he will return home one day.

“We doing things ourselves. I, my husband, and my daughter praying every day for him and I have hope in God he will come back one day … God [works] miracles so God can send him back,” Jacob’s mother Gloria Benjamin told Dominica News Online.

Meanwhile, his twenty-one-year-old sister, Marvlyn, said she will definitely miss the enjoyment her brother brought during the Christmas season.

“It’s going to be sad [without him] … if he was there it would be more enjoyment … he was a quiet person… he’s a cool guy … we very sad, but the family always saying they don’t give up hope … his aunties … say everyday they won’t never forget him … we don’t give up hope,” Marvlyn told DNO.

The family is so optimistic about Jacob’s return they have begun to foster the belief that he is enjoying himself somewhere overseas.

“I don’t think nothing happened … I believe he’s somewhere freeing up. He could be somewhere overseas. The police and the people from the village went all around looking for him and they never find him… he would always speak about overseas because I was St. Martin for four years and he always used to call and ask me,’how is there?’” Marvlyn
disclosed.

Apart from the clothes Jacob wore when he went missing, the family have since realized that a shirt and pant belonging to him are also missing.

Mike – you sure sound like to you know exactly what happened to him. Instead of placing it on the article comments you can tell what you know to Coulibistre Police then the family will stop being naive as you say and they can go through the grieving process.

Otherwise as long as he is still missing there is always hope that he’s safe and alive somewhere.!!!

how can you say the people are naive? They are just being hopeful, and exercising faith in the almighty. Keep the faith.
