Dominican-born police officer in St Kitts gets stabbed

stabbingA Dominican national who is a member of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force is currently nursing a stab wound following an altercation on August 15.

According to reports from the St Kitts & Nevis Observer the altercation ensued between the officer and a resident of Butlers Village, Nevis.

The Observer also understands that on Sunday the Butler’s resident who goes by the name “Evans” enters into a church in Butlers and began a fight with the pastor. A compliant was made and the police began their search for the young man.

The Observer stated further that the young man was found on Monday afternoon in Butlers.

“It is unclear what happened to cause the altercation between the young man and the officer but the officer was left stabbed and taken to the Alexandra Hospital where he is currently nursing his wounds. The Butlers resident was taken into police custody,” the Observer stated.

Brian Pacquette a Dominican who also served as a police officer in St Kitts died in July 2016 as a result of being shot in the leg.

On June 23, 2016 Pacquette was shot during a scuffle when he and another officer went to investigate a larceny report.

Pacquette, who served in the St. Kitts Police Force for ten years before his passing, was given a military style funeralon Tuesday (Aug 9).

For all concerned the officer was stabbed while on duty in Nevis where he is stationed. The act was reportedly done by a mentally ill person. He has since been admitted to hospital’s psychiatric unit.

    • August 20, 2016

A mentally ill man allowed to roam the streets with a knife? Was he not under supervision?

If he is fit to be committed to a psych ward now he should have been in a psych ward.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

So sorry to hear of another police officer being injured, this time with a knife.

The villain who did this is obviously a bad man. He had gone into a church and started a fight with the pastor. It is to the credit of the police that they went after the man.

Harming a police officer is a very serious offence. As a minister of the church (Assemblies of God) I must tell you this. A policeman or policewoman is also God’s minister. Listen to what the Apostle Paul wrote by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. “For he is the MINISTER of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he bears not the sword in vain: for he is the MINISTER of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.” (Romans 13:4) Again Paul wrote “For this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s MINISTERS, attending continually to this very thing.” (Romans 13:6)

Mr. Evans dared to attack and injure a minister of God.

I hope the judge will understand that this behavior is an assault against God Himself not merely against the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Lawlessness will increase until the Bible is revered as the Word of God and allowed to speak to the issues of the day.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

:?: Don’t get me wrong people! I hope it’s not payback time, and that the people of St. Kitts are fed up having enough of brutality against them by foreign police in their country :?: Because, from what we can witness on us by our own home grown local police, how they can mistreat us,much more when they are police officers in another island :?: There comes a time when the people have to stand in defense of themselves, when the state can’t protect them! I for one believe, when a police officer raises their hands on a citizen, if that citizen can’t get justice, then the citizen has to do justice themselves by any means!!! Other than that, all citizens should be peaceful law abiding citizens. Can’t draw any conclusions or judgment on this matter,if the accused is guilty, let him pay! …………

Have you ever been mistreated by Dominican Police?

  5. August 18, 2016

In this day and age all police officers should be arm or equipped with fire arms, pepper spray Tasers and all the necessary tools necessary to protect themselves , and the public l saw police officers carring the same old baton in there there hand like the old British colonial power ,please lets not carry this stupid stick in there hand like that will deter a robber please drop that stick and start carry a fire arm what year are we in ?.

    • August 20, 2016

I agree with those who believe police officers should have the same ”fire power” as the alleged criminals they will face and be fully equipped to defend themselves and the public.

It is a shame that any government should put an officer out there unable to defend himself (herself). They are left to face mentally ill – and sometimes demon possessed – criminals without a gun for no better reason than the cops in England don’t carry guns.

Are independent self governing nations looking to ”Mother” England for an example in such a matter without due consideration for their own need and the well being of their own sons and daughters :?:

      SHAME :!:

Sincerely, Rev. Dr. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

Some DNO commentators don’t like the PM or his government. They have a chip on their shoulder as big as a lumber yard.

The most illiterate of them interpret everything negative that happens in the light of politics. They blame the PM for very thing that doesn’t work like they think it should work. It is called “scapegoating”. It is a way of deflecting the blame away from themselves.

“Dominican police officer stabbed in St Kitts” based on this headline, He is a member of the RDPF, who got stabbed in St. Kitts, and does not really mesh with the article. The article is saying he is a Dominican serving on the police force in St. Kitts. The head line is saying he is a police from Dominica, who got stabbed in St. Kitts. 8-O

A Priest, A Pastor! you all are good at hiding the real truth. You cannot live in a place with no rules. If a pastor is keeping a service or mass in his church and you don’t want to attend you don’t enter. What if ?the so called Pastor was keeping bible sturdies in the early morningat the man’s home whilst he was away. The man swears anywhere I meet him I will have him. Good for a laugh.

    • August 20, 2016

      This is highly unlikely.

In fact your insinuation is plain stupid. It does not jive with the information in the article. This is not the type of thing an intelligent man writes about a pastor without proof and a good reason for writing it.

      Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

      August 18, 2016

On holiday in St. Kitts? Was he moonlighting (a second job) as a P.O. in St. Kitts while on holidays from Dominica? Or he is working in St. Kitts and was on holiday, working when this occurred? Which one really?

      • August 20, 2016

A Dominican man wants to be a cop. He applies to the police in Dominica for a job and is turned down. He applies again and is turned down. Some men have taken work in other countries because they were treated shabbily in Dominica. They find they are appreciated in the land of their adoption. Some become successful there.

Maybe this has happened in other professions not only in law enforcement. Meanwhile young people are going far away to colleges and universities in other nations for their education. Many will opt not to return.

Dominica needs to evaluate how they treat their own. They may be losing some of their best.

    • August 20, 2016

There are still questions surrounding Officer Pacquette’s death. An investigation was promised but the people have not heard the results.

It looks like they didn’t like what they found and decided it was best not to make it public.

Is this going to become another ”cold case” :?:

If a foreign chief is brought in who has cold case experience don’t be surprised if this is the first case he pounces on. But maybe some are afraid of this.

    August 17, 2016

When I saw the headline I thought I was reading stale news. For God’s sake, not another Police Officer and a Dominican at that! St. Kitts is getting a bad reputation for the shooting and stabbing of Police Officers from D/ca. No respect for Police Officers.
If there are any more D/can P.O’s in St. Kitts, you guys better return to home, sweet home, Dominica. D/ca is not that bad yet I hope.
Imagine going into a church and starting a fight with the pastor? Over what? What did the pastor do to him? Whatever his reason as he feels, this man is possessed. Not in a church, for God’s sake! No respect for also the church. This is the last place anyone should start a fight. Shame! Bad egg! I hope he is not released on bail.
In the meantime, I hope the D/can P.O.’s wound is not bad and that he will recover.
May God heal his wound and ease his mind from anxiety and grant him peace!

Policemen in many of the former British territories (and also in England) should be allowed to carry guns. Interestingly countries like Grenada and Trinidad equip all cops with guns…Others should follow that example…Criminals out there are becoming more emboldened and this types of crimes and serious injuries against the police are on the increase. I know some that will see this as negative and by no means do I condone the wonton abuse that sometimes happen at the hands of the police but it is clear that crime is on the upswing everywhere and the police with the proper training be allowed to better equipped against perpetrators. This is not only for such situations. For example if a cop comes across an armed burglary what can he really do other than call for back up (which may not be available and too late)? In some situation what benefit is it calling cops who cant fight fire with fire? Its the 21st century and crime can’t always be adequately fought with a uniform and charge…

Are kittisians blaming Dominican officers for the removal from office of their very corrupt Douglas led labor party government? I hope when we get rid of this very corrupt Skerrit led labor party they will not pass their anger on Carbon. Speedy recovery to you bro and be very careful. Wish I could tell you to come to Dominica for medical assistance , but as you may know under Skerrit not even a Zandoli wants to be treated in Dominica. I also wish I could tell you to move back to DA after full recovery and be part of the local police but Blackmoore is on record indicating that they not incompetent and he and Skerrit might have to get a foreigner to run the force. You are in my prayers and speedy recovery to you bro

possie direct, an incident happened in St Kitts; what does Skerrit and the Labor Party in Dominica have to do with that? On a next note, hope you won’t ask for treatment in DOMINICA in the event something or illness should happen to you. All you HATERS do is criticize your country.

It may be difficult to discern what (if anything) is behind the assault on Police Officers in St. Kitts. It is unlikely the perpetrator knew the officer was a Dominican.

But what is becoming obvious is St. Kitts is giving itself a bad name and image abroad by the violence directed at police officers. This should be a matter of national concern. It is serious enough for their government to address.

Don’t say it has only happened X number of times. It should not be happening. Once is once too often. When it goes over that line it is time for intervention. The people need to be educated. These officers – men or women – are God’s ministers not just servants of the State.

      Read Romans 13:1-7.

      Rev. Donald Hill, D.D., Evangelist.

How sad! Wish him a speedy recovery. Now am I to ask myself if our Dominican officers in St. Kitts are being targeted? I hope the two are not related and hope our boys are not being targeted.

    • Perish that thought
      August 18, 2016

They are certainly not being targeted and the perpetrator is said to be mentally unstable.

    • Tell the Facts
      August 18, 2016

I really would not think so. I would state it is just a coincidence that he is a. Dominican. However, considering what occurred to P.O. Brian Pacquette (RIP), we did not expect that another one of our own would be stabbed. We hope no more, if there are anymore in St. Kitts.
May God protect those who may be a police officer in St. Kitts and anywhere else in the world.
