Acting President of the Dominica Medical Association Dr. Hazel Shillingford-Ricketts says the death of Dr. Francesca Jacobs is a big loss for primary health care on the island.
Jacobs passed away Thursday morning and officials are still trying to determine the cause.
“We knew that she had a medical condition she was born with and despite of all that she did well for herself. She did medicine; she came back, she worked in the primary health care system, she worked in St Joseph for a number of years, following this she went away to further her studies. She returned and was employed as the director of primary health care. She had just started getting things in order and to lose her now is a blow to the sector,” according to Dr. Shillingford-Ricketts.
Matron at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) Letisha Lestrade-Wyke said Jacobs’ death is a sad day for medical professionals and a loss for the health sector.
Rest in peace Sissy dear, you have made your mark on earth; we were friends from her days at PSS as a student, during her studies in Cuba and upon her return to DA. I know her passing is a hard blow to her son dwayne who just recently almost lost his dad, Dr. Sabin but god is in control, take courage Dwayne, Jade, her husban and her mother and sisters, Ruby and the rest of the family, god is with you all
Sympathy to the family, just want officer Roberts to trust in the lord, remember, good people are like good fruits they don’t last forever,God wanted her no more in this place “SO” he took her away.Rest in peace “DOC”
I am comforted by the fact that: God only takes the best! May she rest in peace.
RIP, sadly missed but not forgotten.
My sympathy to the family, especially to Dr’s daughter Jade who was named after me. My family was very close. It is a pity that all those nice words are being said about the Dr. after she is gone to receive praises from the maker. How many of us told her while alive how important she was? How much we loved her? This reminds us that we should give those who are good, their praises and love while they can hear it from us. We can only accept all of these paises on her behalf. Give me boquets while I am alive. May she rest in peace.
On the occasions that I interacted with her, I remember her as a quiet and gentle person. May God give her family strength during this trying time. May her soul rest in peace.
MAY HER SOUL REST IN PEACE AND THE GOOD LORD COMFORT THE FAMILY AND HER COLLEAGUES.
Quiet, soft-spoken and smiling. May god bless your children and family, and bring them comfort and peace during this time. You will be missed, surely.
May your sweet soul rest in peace……You have gone to meet your Maker, you are in a better place now. We will stand strong with your kids.

may your soul rest in peace.
Dr. Jocobs and I were classmates and church sisters in the US. She was a hard worker and had great plans for healthcare in Dominica. She will be missed not only in Dominica, but abroad as well. May God be with her loved ones she has left behind… We will see her soon when our Lord returns.
My sympathy to the family of Dr. Jacobs and the entire community of Bense, Anse-de-mai,Ansoldat, and the medical community in Dominica.
Sometimes life is not about how long you live, but what you have done with the life you have. It goes without saying that she has accomplished alot and has positively impacted those who knew her best.
Lest not forget her contribution
May her soul rest in peace.
may her soul rest in perfect peace
I met her to teach how to use Excel efficiently in May. She was a nice person and kind to me. I feel so sad. Douka Yasuraka ni (“Please rest in peace” in Japanese).
