“Dr. Sam” undergoes surgery in Martinique; said to be doing well

Dr. Christian being taken to the air ambulance for airlifting to Martinique

United Workers Party candidate for the Soufriere constituency, Dr. Sam Christian, who was on Sunday, Dec 2, 2018, airlifted to Martinique for medical attention, has undergone surgery and is doing well, according to reports coming out of Martinique.

Dr. Christian sustained a fractured pelvis in what has been described as an unusual accident which occurred in Pointe Michel on Saturday 1st December, 2018.

Information from several sources in Martinique, including Dr. Christian’s female partner, indicate that he is doing well after the surgery which was done on Sunday night. She stated in a message circulated via WhatsApp, that in his own words, Dr. Christian is feeling “much better” than how he felt prior to the surgery.

Another report from someone who visited Dr. Christian at the hospital in Martinique, describes him as being lucid and said that from his hospital bed, he thanked all the first responders, nurses and doctors at the PMH for doing an “outstanding job” with the means available.

According to the source, “He also made special mention of the government and opposition efforts at rendering material and moral support. He thanks all Dominicans at home and abroad, in particular, the faith community, and overseas medical professionals such as [Doctor] Dale Dangleben who offered aid from afar.”

A number of Dominicans in Martinique are said to have visited Dr. Christian at the Martinique hospital, including Dominica’s General Consul to Martinique, Mark Frampton, Dominican-born Martinique resident, Mikael Gabriel and former Government Press Secretary, Sean Douglas.

I am breathing a breath of fresh air to be reading the positive news concerning Dr. Sam’s health. He and his family have thanked everyone who played a part as far as his health is concerned. I applaud him and all those involved in making the situation a better one. In such instances, We ought to put our differences aside and concentrate on the good. We are one people but due to politics, we have become divided. We must never forget the things that caused our ties and continue to work together for the better.

I am sure that the good doctor will not oppriciate being used as a political football. He may just wish to get well, that is always the wish of us who have been very sick.

It is good to see people putting people before Politics. This is the spirit; God put us here to tend to each other when he or she is down. All the best Dr. Christian. The nation I’d rooting for you.

Excellent news! To God be the glory. This concern for the well-being of Dr. Sam saw the government and opposition forces working in unison for even a brief time. This is how it should be for together we can accomplish much more than when we are divided. That’s the reason I repeatedly say that together we are better and the government, whether DLP or UWP should govern for everybody despite one’s political affiliation. Everyone of voting age should vote for which ever party they see fit without any fear of victimization. People, you are not DLP nor UWP nor DFP, your birth certificate and your passport will clearly show that you are Dominican. The divide and rule MUST stop. The government belongs to all of us and they must begin to govern so that every single man, woman, boy and girl benefit from the resources of the country. Every citizen should get a fair slice of the cake. Is that too hard to do?

I am thankful to God for this good news. However I am very disappointed with the state of health in Dominica. Health is Life and when a government does not make the wellness of its people a top priority you know funeral homes will be busy. As a labourite myself who campaigned with the DLP, I must admit that I am very disappointed with the state of health and just about everything. To me it appears that Mr. Skerrit has declared war against the health of the people as seen by evidence on the ground. When Mr. Skerrit became PM, he met hospitals in Roseau, Portsmouth and Marigot. Since then he closed down the Marigot hospital, the only hospital close to the airport. If that was not good enough, he also met a strong Ross University Medical School which he allowed to move to Barbados. Roseau hospital is in terrible state and so too is the one in Portsmouth. You cannot have money to buy San Raphael, buy Joseph Isaac, by voters and say to hell with our health if we die we die. That’s very…

A message to the jokers party and supporters don’t forget to thanks Dr.Skerrit and his administrations for the quick response they have given to Dr Sam Christian. If it was Dr.Skerrit this accident had happened to their would be singing and dancing on a certain radio station in Roseau for sure. Having said that get better soon Mr Sam Christian God bless.

I hope DNO will print my post thanks.

Thank Skerrit for what??? It was Dominica’s money that paid for this, not Skerrits money. I know you DLP supporters don’t differentiate between Skerrits private money and state money. So shut up you little corrupt man and get your facts right. If Skerrit had not allowed for Dominicas health system to completely collapse there wouldn’t have been any need to fly people to Martinique in the first place. Skerrits game is over very soon anyway…

You are right Sir. Thank Skerrit for what. Gay-Boo thank everyone except Skerrit , but we all know that being in government is a thankful task. Opposition forces cannot be thankful or appreciative for anyone or anything according to their playbook. They have no cognitive of good deeds. So its no big deal weather there is thanks to Skerrit or not, life goes on.
All these negatives make us stronger. It strengthens our resolution to overcome all challenges, all disasters and all calamities. A wise man promised that there will always be trials and tribulations of all forms and opposition forces are proving this is true.
