Something to think about. And it is my hope that we understand that how can we prepare for an earthquake requires strong faith not only when disaster strikes but each and every moment. What we are witnessing is that there are earthquakes and all types of dangers all across the world. Sadly, no one expects this or that or, when these things will be. But some of us are even announcing the end of the world. Who knows. But what is a fact of life is that there will be earthquakes in divers places, and science tells us that a major one is about to hit this earth. We om the other hand must realize that we are part of the earthquake fault that is weakening while we live. We are part of the generation that the Most High is warning over and over to come to grip with ourselves and know He is ready to turn His back on us. This is a country that is not looking to the Most High for salvation. No. We have not the slightest idea that we are far away from our Creator. Yes, we are one of the countries t

I do believe this country is not well prepared for “the big one” as many have called it. I was not born on this soil however I live here and this is my home. I survive Maria and the rebuild process. What I can tell you is it would be very wise for this government to invest heavily in earthquake preparedness I believe people have become comfortable and we have been warned to prepare for an earthquake. I pray the Lord hears or cry’s to be spared. I also would like to see early warning sirens or a system put in place for any future events relating to a volcanic eruptions and the citizens who reside in the immediately affected area. Yes this country is resilient and allu are survivors however I never hear talk of earthquake preparedness and I believe this area is largely being ignored. Citizens of Dominica please don’t get comfortable please continue to pray and be prepared have a emergency plan in the event of a catastrophic earthquake also talk with family and friends about a…

You deserve a handshake for this comment. Well said. I said this some time back that we need to invest in earthquake preparedness as much as we as a Caribbean people have in Hurricanes especially us Dominicans. We don’t have the most active or most threatening but we do have the most, we are also smack dab in the middle of the region and readily placed for the undoings of hurricanes. Yes, we are a resilient nation, we are survivors of every challenge, we are rebuilders and we are a strength. But we are also reserved and fail to realize that challenges that affect us are often not anything that we can control or are not endemic to us or internal matters. They too are external and we must ready and prepared for these shocks. Dominica has gone through so much as a nation in the past decades but we have always found ways to rebuild, stand back. But sadly we ALWAYS forget where we once were. Hopefully, this will change with the call to build better and stronger.
