A road traffic collision, which occurred in Coulibstrie on Saturday, has resulted in the death of a male resident of that village.
Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), Sergeant Simon Edwards, reported that the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force is investigating the collision which resulted in the death of 57 year-old Ranny Joseph. He said the accident occurred at 1:00 pm on Saturday August 18, 2018.
Edwards said Joseph succumbed as a result of injuries he sustained after he was struck by a Yamaha motorcycle which was being ridden by 27 year-old Reynolds Blanc, also of Coulisbistrie.
According to Edwards, Joseph sustained a massive puncture wound to the right side of his face. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a medical practitioner and was subsequently transported to the Gentle Rest Funeral Home.
The rider, Reynolds Blanc, sustained injuries to his chest and was taken at the Accident and Emergency Department of the Princess Margaret Hospital.
Edwards said police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
Waypapa Francisco get a Pardna! Francisco way you be?
who said there will not be an autopsy,it wont be done the same day,it must be done where allu get that story na.
Sad for both families I hope that it wasn’t reckless drivers.
The police must be careful with this practice of not taking custody of a body which is the subject of a questionable death and just placing it at a funeral home unguarded. The body should be brought to the hospital mortuary and closely guarded by the police till the post mortem examination. If however the hospital mortuary is not available it should be guarded at these funeral homes where the body is placed.
It need not be guarded, but they should have a box that has a special lock that only the police can open. That would allow them to utilize the services of the funeral home without possible contamination of the evidence.
What are you talking about? man you watching too much TV. Xpol What? Even in bigger countries the police will limit use of resources based on risk analysis.
My friend you guys just think because its Dominica then we don’t know what we are doing. I have never seen so much never-see-come-see people. Most of you go oversea then suddenly you are experts. Even if we don’t have much, we’re still better off than all you.
Examination for a car accident? The hell…. It’s not like he was murdered and the police have no witnesses or explanations on how he died… He got hit by a bike and died.. end of story.
Sad and sad … condolences to the deceased. That village has lost so much and continues to do so
So how many people have to die or innocent people be struck down by irresponsible drivers before something happens? a Little over two months ago the same thing happen in Bath estate, and we hear no talk from the people in power about suspending licenses, reckless driving laws, etc
These Caribbean Islands are so beautiful; I often wonder what is the rush. Just take time and enjoy the beauty. No need for speed; let us all arrive alive.
So the deceased was taken straight to the funeral home no autopsy was done to determine exact cause of death, when the young man is charged with vehicular homicide how does one know the cause of death? could have been a sudden heart attack or any other alignment, Justice needs to be well served for both parties.
Only God Can Help to eradicate the STUPIDITY in DA…
RIPP….
Some kind of lawyer you are!!
The date the autopsy will be taking place gentle rest will take the body to pmh for it to be done because of lack of space at the pmh
Because he was taken to the funeral home does that mean there will not be an autopsy? That’s a rather stupid conclusion as the victim has not been buried.
An autopsy is always done as part of an inquest regardless of where the body is taken. Just because the police don’t release every single detail everytime, does not mean that things are not being done according to the law.

Whenever someone was hit by a vehicle and died they dont take the hospital.

I will not insult myself by referring to you as a lawyer. It look like you are one of those Dominicans that go overseas and eat whole baked chicken for the first time then all of a sudden you’re an expert.
You just believe we don’t know what we are doing in Dominica. Bigger countries spend more and have more resources but we are still able to accomplish a lot with the little that we have. Whether you are in Dominica or overseas, its obvious that you’re trying to play intelligent.
Lawyer continue to eat your whole fowl and let us try our best for our country.
Francisco Pardna, I could not agree with you more, your comment that was brilliant, I have been leaving in the UK for a long time joined the Royal Navy then move to Europe Spain lovely place to be in, But Dominica, sweet Dominica is the best place to be. Having said that some Dominican people want to take a good look at their selfs and after that reflect back on their lives with a pillow over their heads in a very dark room both home and abroad. Those of you who don’t like our Dominica stay in your USA or UK and be critical of Dominica for all the good Dr Skerrit prime minister, is doing for the good off the country.
