Public Relations Officer of the Fire Services Department, Wayne Letang, has reported that investigations are underway into a fire which “totally gutted” a residential building in Pointe Michel on Monday.
No one was injured in the blaze.
The building, which was constructed of concrete blocks and covered with galvanize and owned by Louisa Philbert, was “met fully ablaze” by fire officers.
Letang stated that when fire fighters arrived, the flames were already being challenged by residents of the community by “bucket brigade,” however the building and its content were “totally gutted by the fire.”
“Investigations into the cause of that fire is still ongoing by fire fighters and investigators from the Fire Services,” he said.
According to him, the building measured approximately thirty-five feet by forty-two feet.
He commended residents of Pointe Michel for their quick response to the fire and the assistance that they gave before the fire fighters arrived at the scene.
Recently, there have been many fires in the community of Point Michel; cars and homes. I can’t help but ask the question: Might there be a serial arsonist in Point Michel?
