Some small wooden buildings were destroyed when a fire of unknown origin swept through an area on Elliot Avenue in Pottersville on Friday evening.

Reports indicate the fire began a little after 7:00 pm behind the Raffoul store   and close to Miniya’s 711 along the north bank of the Roseau River.

No one was injured but it is reported that several persons may have been left homeless.

The fire department, which arrived quickly on the scene, was able to bring the blaze under control.

The fire attracted a large crowd of onlookers.

See photos below of the fire.

What’s so funny bout it my dear? Please tell me! The part that there was a fire or the part that some people are now homeless? Be them people vagrants or not, that was the place they rest their head at night and tonight they have nowhere. So again I ask. What’s so funny?

It appears that fire in residential areas is one the most prevalent hazard in Dominica more so Roseau. What is the plan for it.

Send a letter to government and/or fire department and wait for a response. You’ll have time see your grandchildren have grandchildren of their own before you get a reply.

The fire may have originated from a meteorite. What about that for starters?
