Four injured in Loubiere accident

The wrangled remains of the vehicle

Four individuals have been injured in a freak accident that occurred in Loubiere on Sunday.

Police Public relations officer Sergeant Kent Matthew reported that between 5 and 6 am on Sunday, a white Suzuki Escudo Jeep registration TJ680 owned by Quest Auto Rental and driven by Val Douglas of Canefield, collided with a concrete wall and step on the eastern side of the Loubiere public road.

The jeep was extensively damaged.

Sergeant Mathew said four of its seven occupants namely, Val Douglas, Clem Isaac of Fond Cole and Dona Langford and Dana Benjamin of Canefield were injured and taken to the Princess Margaret Hospital.

“At the time the vehicle was traveling south to Point Michel when the driver lost control of it. In his effort to bring it back under his control it turned around and traveled in the Opposite direction and collided with the step and wall,’ he said.

A seat belt can’t help you when you go over one of those steep cliffs. Learning how to drive would help.

What is taking the government to enforce seat belts to control the amount of injuries so that the reckless drivers will observe the seat belt sign and enforce the laws..too many freak drivers on the road after a stupid triple decay band…

Driving speed limits need to be strictly enforced in Dominica. There are too many crazy and reckless drivers on the roads who are only concerned about how fast they can go and who they can overtake. Some idiots need to be taken off the roads too

No, he ran into the wall just after Mr. Peltier’s shop. It is obvious the driver was traveling at considerable speed and ran off the road. When I got on the scene I noticed that the vehicle ran off the road and hit a slab over the drain. That must have spun the vehicle and slam the right front into the wall on the left and from that impact, the vehicle then spun around to face in the opposite direction.

In my professional opinion, the young man must have been traveling at considerable speed and lost control of the vehicle. I trust that alcohol was not a factor in that accident.

these guys have no consideration for other road users. The maximum speed limit in any residential aera in Dominica is 20 mph. These people are endangering the lives of other motorist and pedestriands alike….a pack of idots if u ask me.

I pray that their injuries are not too serious. But whenever these guys have rentals, with the knowledge that it’s not their personal vehicle, they drive carelessly and dangerously. Your deposit is certainly lost, and still you have injuries. double whammy.
