Police have identified the victim of a traffic accident which occurred in the area of Morne Espagnol on Sunday night, as 24 year-old Kevin Toussaint of Dubique.
According to a police report, Toussaint was killed when the vehicle in which he and two other persons were traveling struck a solar-powered, white light pole on the way to Portsmouth. Reports also indicate that a police officer was among the three persons on board the vehicle.
National youth cricketer Jahseon Alexander and the police officer sustained serious injuries and were transported to Princess Margaret Hospital.
Police are investigating.
Hello and good morning my people. First I want to offer my condolences to the family of the decease and wish for a full and speedy recovery for the two other victims. I look at all the photos and the video attached to this incident and am very troubled by the way the scene was handled. The scene isn’t rope off creating an inner or outer perimeter and people are just walking through it. We seems to have Police in military uniform present but they aren’t excising control of the scene which should be treated as a crime scene. The Police can’t prevent people from taking photos but they can keep civilians at a distance so the EMT’s can provide care in a professional setting without being interfered with. We have a fatality involve so we don’t know if excess speed, Alcohol or some kind of vehicle defect contributed to this accident. Am wondering if the Police have any procedure for securing a crime scene or should I write a procedure for them. Am disappointed.
The young man that lost his life was an astounding athlete, and a very nice person, always had a smile and a joke. We in D’ca have lost another that had plenty of potential. May God bless him and keep him.
One might be inclined to estimate that if the two individuals named in this accident are from Dubique, then maybe the third unnamed person is also from the Dubique area. I am extremely curious why the “police officer’s” name has not been published, especially since credible sources has him as the driver. Why is the CDPF covering this up?
A next HRV in the accident making. Are these vehicles really safe and stable???
They are quit safe actually! Anything used outside of the range/scope that it was intended for, is potentially a significant hazard to the reckless user(s) and anyone else, unfortunate to be in the immediate vicinity.
Up till this time the report had not mentioned of any death, it mentioned of a victim, a victim could mean one involved in an accident, where fatal would refer to death. I’ll be looking
Note that this is the third death as a result of the base of those solar light poles: One at Layou, another at Tarreau (as a result of cutting the protective barrier to place a light pole) and now this one at Morne Espagnol. Many lesser accidents, without loss of life, have also occurred as a result of these poles. And there will be more. Engineers take note.
the poles are not the one causing the accident… instead we should be urging our youths to drive with more precaution and also not under the influence…. last time i checked the poles are not on the road…..just now u will say skerrit caused the accident….. i mean come on.
the base of these poles have nothing to do with irresponsible and reckless driving. had the pole not been there they would have gone down a valley.
Africo
let’s just say the base of the pole jus jump infront de coming vehicle, and say ”hit me nah if you can” , i can see de pole going to be sued ein , because a policeman was present as witness.
zor sort ein .
The sacrifices have begun. Be careful people.
Really Karl? Smh
Really Terate. One shot in Marigot last night, Another seriously injured in another road accident at Portsmouth. Before every festival period, may it be Independence, Xmas or Carnival there is a spike in deaths one way or another or serious accidents which may cause loss of limbs. It has been so for the last 5 years. Take note.
Now learning that a POLICE OFFICER was on board, its even more sad and shameful to hear. Because that Officer who should practice law and safety both in and out of uniform, allowed his/her friend to speed. We are our brothers keepers! RIP to the young man. Prayers for the others.
Condolences to the family and friends of the deceased, and a speedy recovery to the 2 others

The Father says: My favor is upon you greatly and doors that have been closed for years will bust open to you. Your latter days will be greater and brighter so get ready. You are a very important piece of what is needed for the whole world. In the shaking of the world find my peace. For Moses to cross the red sea he had to have radical faith. Yes, the water may crash against the boat but you will not sink. Many don’t think that they are a legend, they see themselves as insignificant but I see entirely differently. I hear the cries of my people but today find that you have be refurbished. If I wanted a carbon copy, I would have done so. If you abandon your post sections of my work will not come to you. What you do and say matters and bear a heavy weight so work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. Today, find the rivers spring up into wells so partner fully with me. I have been with you and will continue to be. Let all bitterness leave you. Envision that…

Sorry, but your comments amount to religious garbage. Religion is the opiate (mind altering drug) of the people. When dishonest politicians want to win the people’s support they keep gospel concerts and use unscrupulous pastors to seal the deal. Too many are so hooked on religion and have their eyes fixated on the sky for their reward that they are no longer much earthly good. Come out of your fanaticism.
The scene looks scary but let’s hope for the best. But then again if three people are believed to be involved and two were taken to the hospital, where is the third one? Lord our prayers are for friends and relatives of the third person while we pray for those taken to the hospital.
Are you serious with that question? Simply read over the article and you are sure to find the third person.
