A motor vehicular collision over the weekend has left one man dead and a woman nursing injuries at the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH).

Sergeant Pellam Jno Baptiste of the Police Public Relations Committee said the accident, which occurred at about 5.30 pm on Saturday 21st November 2015 at Lalay in Grand Bay, resulted in the death of Dexter Fontaine, male, 37 years old of Pichelin.

Injured is Merlyn Blanc of Grand Bay. She sustained a fractured left shoulder and a broken left leg and is a patient of the Dawbiney Ward of the PMH.

According to Jno Baptiste, Fontaine was the rider of a Yamaha motor cycle, registration number PM 501, when he alleged lost control, struck Blanc before hitting a utility pole.

“The body of the late Dexter Fontaine was transported to the Accident and Emergency Department of the PMH where he was officially pronounced dead by a medical doctor,” he said.

A coroner’s inquest will be convened into the matter, Jno Baptiste said.

so if these so called corrupt men were not in office floods, hurricanes, volcanoes accidents crimes will not occur. Jesus Christ was on earth and look what happened and still our wicked nature we crucified him instead of trying to help destroy let us come together and try to build.

It makes me sad that yet another young person died in a motorcycle accident.
What caused him to lose control and struck the woman who got injured? Note, she was not a passenger. I hope in time she recovers.
My heartfelt sympathy to the family of the deceased.
May his soul rest in peace. Amen!

I am in the habit of also saying a prayer: “Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, once in agony, have pity on the dying.”
Millions of people world-wide die daily, every second or less. Some were terminally ill, some fall sick and suddenly die, others in accidents, other manners and some more through the wicked hands of some people.
As we pray for ourselves, family and others, we must try to remember to pray that short, efficacious prayer to the Lord that He will save souls. He needs us in “the salvation army.” :)
We, in turn will reap spiritual benefits from doing so, some of which we cannot fathom in our moral minds. God knows how much!
The good that we do follow us.

It is disturbing to read about any tragedy in Grandbay as it is most likely a Labourite victim. We all know that Grandbay is 99% Labourites and as such are under the protection of the blessed Dominica Labour Party. Anything that happens in Grandbay, good or bad, is felt by Labourites everywhere!!! Let us then pray for both victims of this tragic accident and extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Dexter Fontaine. Whether or not he was a Labourite is being looked into.

Hope this young man was insured ,because having a life insurance the young lady will get financial help ,she might be a working mother who will not be able to work any more to take care of her children .. there are many people with bikes or other vehicles all over the island especially grand-bay the gov’t should make sure that they are insured and M.O.T which is the annual test of vehicle safety, road worthiness aspects and exhaust emission are up to date ,nonetheless almost all the roads from tete la lay to tete morne there is no side walk.Is the gov’t waiting for someone especial the very young children and the elderly to get killed?Drive with care for yourself and think of others ,as pedestrians have the right to use the road also, not every one is fit to run to avoid getting hit by vehicles ,Wish the best to the young lady …and condolences to the family,,

People must recognize God, give him his dues, pay him homage and be kind to their fellow people. They must also pray to God and ask his protection. They must obey road regulations and the speed limit. If no speed limit, they must drive cautiously.
Therefore, do not put it down to bad things are occurring in Dominica. I reside in a country/city and due to the population and criminal elements, much more has occurred and is occurring here. One has to be strong and of faith to live a relatively happy and peaceful life here.
This past weekend a vehicle struck an 18 year-old. She died in the hospital. I have not yet heard or read the full story of how she happened to be struck down. The driver left the scene but later turned himself in to the police. At this point, this is all I know.
I feel sorry for this young person who has barely lived her life and pray God had mercy on her soul.
Nearly everyday it is shootings, stabbings or accidents. Some die.
