Monday morning blaze destroys Mahaut house

An early morning blaze has destroyed the home of Robertson George, alias ‘Cozy’, of Mahaut.

According to public relations officer at the fire department, Courtney Challenger, fire officers responded to a call at 5:50 am Monday morning. Upon arrival in Morne Georgin, Mahaut, the owner of the house was not present, however fire officers met several residents of that community attempting to put out the fire.

The fire officers took over and were able to extinguish the fire, but not before the 16 by 12-foot wooden house was completely damaged.

According to Challenger, damage to the building and its contents is estimated at $15,000.

Challenger told Dominica News Online, that while investigations were still ongoing into the cause of the fire, information from the owner of the house indicates that a lighted candle had been left in the house. The owner left home in the early hours of Monday morning.

What does a house burning have to do with politics. Damn shame Dominica has so many small minded people. You would have thought in today’s world that people would be a little bit literate. Dang put a sock in it already. The man could have voted who he wanted. It;’s a dem, ocratic country. Hope you are ok Cozy
