Four communities that were affected by the passage of Tropical Storm Erika have benefitted from a fund raiser undertaken by International reggae artist, Dominican, Nasio Fontaine.

The Nasio Foundation, founded by Fontaine, in collaboration with WICE Q95FM recently handed cheques amounting to EC$ 14,000.00 to Petite Savanne resettlement committee, the Fond St. Jean/Bagatelle/Pointe Carib village council, Colihaut, Coulibistrie village councils and the secretary of the Parliamentary Representative for the Newtown constituency.
“I really want to say thank you to all the people who contributed to the funds that we raised at Q95 FM radio, I am really, really thankful to all the people who put out their best foot and really gave, and we give thanks that we had the life and strength through all trials and tribulations and to still come up with that venture and successfully we conquer it,” Fontaine said.
Meantime, Matthias Peltier, host of The Hot Seat program on WICE Q95 FM Radio, where the radiothon was held, said  that people were asking questions about how much was raised and how much wasn’t raised.
“…And in the spirit of transparency, we are here this morning to make that presentation to well deserving recipients following Tropical Storm Erika,” he stated.
Peltier remarked that over EC$20,000 was pledged, but so far they have only been able to receive EC$14,000.
“We waited that long because we were waiting for the monies to come in. You know when you pledge, it is usually a promise and many people don’t deliver. So, we had to wait this long and some monies may still be coming in as we speak, but we decided to make that presentation this morning and whatever will come, we will do another presentation at some other time.”
The recipients all expressed their thanks for the gesture and noted that the donation will go a promised that it will go a long way.

Mr. Nasio Fontaine, we the members, affiliates, comrades and supporters of the blessed Dominica Labour Party sincerely commend you in your efforts to contribute towards the rebuilding process. However, we caution you that your affiliation with the propagandist radio station Q95 diminishes its value. Mr. Fontaine, as an iconic representative of Dominica in the International Community your words are powerful and far-reaching. However, given the bad reputation of Q95 and their puppet masters, the Uneducated Wicked People it would be wise to stay far from them before they taint your name and reputation. Mr. Fontaine, these men and women who run and support this violent and trouble-making political party are a small minority compared to the millions of God-fearing and peaceful Labourites all over world. Thus, we urge you to seriously consider the company you keep. Your actions are indeed sincere and should be regarded at the highest level. It would be a shame to see it tainted blue.

Here in Canada sitting in front of my computer I am so impressed by the goodness of all the people in Dominica and beyond who have given to help the victims of Erika and restore the island. Dominicans you are loved!

I am sure many people enjoy Mr. Fontaine’s music. The music industry is about entertainment and there are many artists. But it is so uplifting to see this man presenting a cheque from the Nasio Foundation to such a worthy cause. This man is not just about entertainment. He is about giving back, reaching out, and blessing people.

    God bless Nasio Fontaine.

    Sincerely, Rev. Donald Hill. Evangelist.

OMG you’re so right! I live in Toronto and was blasting my Nasio on Saturday and my guy asked where’s that man from I said Dominica soooo proud and he’s like “I thought he was Jamaican all my life, Why aren’t they showcasing him? He’s like the day that man hits the stage anywhere in Toronto or Dominica I will be there.”
