OECS statement on tragic accident at Penville

Area where the vehicle ran off the road

It is with profound sadness that the Director General and staff of the OECS Commission offer their heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the people and Government of Dominica over the tragic loss of five young men in a road accident over the weekend. The area where the accident occurred is represented in parliament by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit.

Dr. Jules said that their thoughts and prayers were with the parents, siblings and loved ones of the boys and that he hoped families were able to draw strength from the knowledge that the whole of the OECS stood shoulder to shoulder with their families at this difficult time.

“I am mindful that no words or deeds offered can ever truly erase the pain of loss and we pray at this time that everyone affected by this tragedy may find comfort in the knowledge that these sons of Dominica rest in God’s eternal peace,” said Dr. Jules.

Guardrails like everything else can sustain a certain amount of impact…..

Guard rails are basically designed to prevent vehicles from going beyond the point of impact, also to create a sense of awareness and contiousness that danger lies beyond that point. One also has to consider the weight of a vehicle , the speed it is traveling, the direction and point of impact on that guard rail. All these factors would determine wether or not a guard rail would fail or serve its purpose. I believe drivers needs to maintain sober heads and be more mindful that transport doesn’t go to hospitals or lose their lives. Metal can be recycled but once you dead you dead.

The problem is, We need to go back to God,For when we forget God, Satan rules, Go back to 2000 when God was still being promoted in the land ,and see the records comparing to after 2000 to now, when no more God ,but skerit , Now even christians praying ,mentiones skeritt more than they mentioning God , God said, I am a jealous God, A God of wrath, Thou shall have no other God beside me,and the love of money is the root of all evil, There is much more to come, For ,Since labour came, God left

Don’t be so self righteous that your self righteousness turns into ignorance. Are you proclaiming that Christians do not get into accidents?you must be too young to remember the accident involving church goers coming from a crusade in the 80’s. You should spend your time praying for the families rather than casting judgement. That’s where the problem begin when we began to cast stones. Let ye who is without SIN… You remembered what happened to the woman’s accusers when Jesus began writing in the sand?.

So guard rails were installed and they could not hold back the car? Is this just cosmetic designed to make people feel safe?

Do not just sthe what you don’t know. These are new guaRd rails that replaced the old ones. But guard rails can only stop vehicle that hit them with a reasonable speed. At the end of the day, let us all pray for their families. As a member of this constituency and knowing three of these young men personally, it is not an easy time.

What I do know is when you can drive through a guard rail like a hot knife through butter, that is not my idea of safe.

@ Zandoli: You obviously did not go to high school but if you did, it is obvious that you never took Physics so it is understandable that you will not understand the relationship between mass, velocity, etc. That being said, I trust you have some human decency in you so I expect you would have said a little prayer for the deceased and the families they have left behind. Get busy now.
