R I. P. Well deserved For a man who never make noise to be respected, a man once one comes in contact with him feels compelled to gravitate to his well mannered composition a man with few words but profound in message. A man who never ask for anything but gaveth everything to his family, Dominica and the wider world. A man that all our tough talking noise making bragerdacious show off politicians of today should emulate speak less and ack more and thats how a true leader is always measured in the end. He is gone but not forgotton!

Ala Lance Gibbs, according to the great Jeff Charles. His spin bowling was mesmering, as he had the opponents beaten all ends up. Like Irvine Shillingford, he just could not unlock that West Indies door in the 1960s’. Like a windmill, his offspin bowling turned viciously ably supported by a very good spin-wicket. His ru-up was a sight to behold. Like Grayson Shillingford, his run-up to the wicket was graceful, one which could be likened to that of an antelope on a prairie. I renew my condolences to the family.

This is really good of the Dominica government to give Mr. Laurent an official funeral for his outstanding contribution. My condolence goes out to his son Kelo, Teacher Gigiff and the rest of Mr. Laurent’s family. I notice someone suggesting building a musium to display our sportsmen and women achievements and this is a good idea. I know funding is difficult to come by given the difficult economic times but, this is something that can be started with personal contributions which I would be happy to be a part of to see the idea become a reality.

A rare specie of “GENTLEMEN”. even through their pain your family should be enormously proud of you HONORABLE LAURENT. In my more than forty years on this earth I have met very few men that fit into the category of GENTLEMEN and you certainly one from that rapidly extinct club. God bless you – sleep well we will see you in the morning.

To the family of Honorable Laurent, hold on to the wonderful memories and try to emulate your father, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend and confidant. Abuntdant blessings.

    Wife of a former cricketer.
