These photos show the blockage on the road to the Retreat House at Eggleston by two land slides and huge fallen trees.
Reports are that it may take up to 2 weeks to open the blocked road. It is said that a high ranking government worker needs to climb over fallen trees to report for work, as his car is stuck between two land slides.
Those who live in the area say they are grateful to Domlec for restoring power in “amazing speed.”
Instead of criticizing and making uncomplimentary comments which serve no useful purpose, we should be praying. Even though the destruction is immense, we should still thank God for it could have been worst.
The 3 O’clock Prayer
You died Jesus but the source of life flowed out for souls and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fountain of life, immeasurable Divine Mercy, cover the whole world (Dominica) and empty Yourself out upon us . –
O Blood and Water which flowed out from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us, I trust in You. (Three times)
Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and the whole world (Dominica). Amen! (Three times)
Jesus, King of Mercy we trust in You! (Three times)
Dominica is a stone throw from America why is Skerrit so shy to ask help from the us army we are all wondering why
@chris mann BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
What’s so special about the blockage to the retreat house. Is it any different from the other villagers that share the same route ? Well then good ! maybe it’s high time to give the fathers (priest) their cutlasses ,let them go clear it, find hard work to do for a change, enough fooling around…
I find your comment rude and inconsiderate. Someone took photos and sent to DNO. That’s it! Why do you have to be so nasty? If you had any sense of history, you would appreciate that the same Fathers you are sending to “find work to do” helped to build many, many communities in Dominica from the ground up in a climate that was unfamiliar to them and with nothing but the Mission of Christ as their stronghold. Like my mother always says, if you don’t know what to say, just don’t talk!
I have observed, by reading such comments that people as this person has no respect. They have forgotten the good which was done. He is rude, crude and out of place. This one has lost his head and heart and probably his soul. One day his words will condemn him. They have mouth and fingers for now but one day they will be still.
When people as he die, Our Lord will reveal to them the value of priests and all what they rejected about the Catholic Church. May they not be sorry, too late to their eternal detriment.
The stone the builder rejects will be the cornerstone. Nothing can be compared to administering to people, consoling them, bringing hope to them, God’s hope with faith and trust and saving souls. Thank God for priests.
Clearly you don’t get it – it is just another picture giving us fuller image of what happens where – another piece of jigsaw, that’s all. Spitting at priests in this moment does not help. we are all in it, bro. Young and old, students, schoolgirls, politicians, taxi drivers, priests, unemployed – simply all. We are all one in face of such tragedy. We should support each other, not point fingers and spit. As a matter of fact I heard these bad priests rented a large boat and go on a trip to deliver supplies to fishing villages cut off by land slides. So, you see – there are other ways of helping and working than wielding a cutlass. would you tell a copter pilot he should rather use his cutlass? we do what we can do best – for the same purpose and reason – to help each other and make things better. So, calm down – you chose not the best moment to be spiteful. Peace be with you, I am sure you too do your best to help, and you feel the pain – like we all do.
It is people as you who bring down the wrath of God upon D/ca. Do you not think it is not time for you to repent, make penance and restitution in order to appease God to forgive your sins? Where is your love?
